The previous review I wrote for this restaurant only did justice for the French, so for this second visit the review is in English.
I was excited when this place opened, because it serves Crepes, a thin crispy pancake with various topping (not be confused with american hotcakes) and savoury ones too.
After their successful branch in Shanghai, here it is in Hong Kong!
This type of French cuisine is more down to earth too, just simple pancakes and local items like moule frites rather than the classy French meals with numerous aperitifs and foie gras.
The restaurant was laid out with black wooden tables and chairs and lighthouse salt and pepper shakers.
It was like walking into a restaurant by the seaside.
The wall on one side had the thick grey bricks just like medieval Normande which is scenic medieval buildings and lush green grass.
As it just opened, there were not much people then on this visit, the staff there were nice and considerate, I was asked if the music was too loud and it was turned down.
Gradually the restaurant filled up with people, and the attitude of the waiters was still amazing, they even asked us if we minded people to sit by us, and also at the end, they thanked us for the tips too.
Never in a million years would honks to that!
It was also good that the waiters were French people, so were the customers.
Anyway back to the food.
Ordered two galettes, and two sweet crepes.
La plage: lemon cream, mint and Meringue.
creamy lemon sauce that tasted like lemon curd. I thought the Meringue would come as crushed pieces but it come as a small little meringue.
Apple and cinammon: la krompouz
This was really nice, thick caramel with cinammon and stewed apples.
La bosco: mixed seafood, parsley, white wine, cream
It was quite creamy, and there was a hint of spicyness in it, which I didnt expect for French food, but with the buckwheat pancake, it tasted nice.
les pierres noire: french camembert, cheese, smoked ham , mixed mushrooms, salads
This was my favourite, very cheesey. also nice gooey cheese wrapped inside, and the mushrooms were diced so finely.
To finish off the meal, tried the sweet cider. I never really order alcohol, but this one claimed to be very sweet and fruity.
When it came, it was served in two big bowls, the colour of the cider was bright golden brown orange. The taste was truly fruity, and at 2.5% I could not taste any alcohol which I can for other 2.5% alcohols.
Although I couldnt taste the alcohol, I could feel the effects of alcohol kicking it.
