Chunky tofu with omnipork

I never eat at Fairwood but the omnipork tofu has made me a regular visitor for this dish.
However, it is always inconsistent, sometimes saltier and this time it was spot one but the tofu pieces were big and chunky which was ideal as I love tofu!
The taste and everything was spot on, just a bit too salty.

I don't really eat much Chinese food but omnipork is making me eat more Chinese food lately.
This time it was GOOD Bbq because they have launched the omnipork charsiu which will be officially launched on the the 30th August.
I love the taste of charsiu so went and had it.
The price tag is affordable unlike other vegetarian dishes.
On first bite, it really did taste like charsiu because it was smokey and the spices that they use for charsiu was there.
The taste reminded me of juyukgone (pork jerky) which is amazing,
Definitely worth trying so I might try it again as they are constantly improving the recipe.

Omnipork Curry

Went to Fairwood for Omnipork again, this time it was curry on the menu so I decided to try it.
HKD41 with table service and a drink that I could drink deemed worthy of trying.

The curry looked ok when it came.
I would describe it as four elements on the plate: red rice, curried omnipork, kidney beans and possibly frozen vegetables.

The curried omnipork was quite spicy but tasty and it was cooked with diced onions and it had these tiny white balls which looked like mustard seeds.
Anyway, the curry went nicely with the rice.
The vegetables and red beans were just vegetables as they were not cooked with curry so they just tasted like blanched frozen veggies!

My quest for vegetarian food is all about having acquaintance with it.
Ever since Fairwood launched the omnipork series I have been meaning to try the Omnipork tofu but their omnipork menu is on rotation.
I think there are 4 vegetarian dishes that are on rotation which means a 0.25 chance of that dish on the menu plus the probability of it not being sold out and the probability I haven't made plans for FOOD!

It was Thursday night and I was in Wanchai so I tried my luck!!!

It was on the menu and still available to order as it was 6ish that time so I was super happy as the guy at the cashier was super friendly.
Wanchai is a good bet because the office people have buggered off.
Evenings are better as you get table service just like McDonalds.
If it wasn't for omnipork, I doubt I would be dining here as the meat isn't edible because you just get fat and bones which I end up not eating.
If you look at it closely, the sauce is evidently a thick paste and dark.
Unfortunately it was too salty but the best omnipork tofu I have tried because you can taste the Sichuan peppercorns, salted vegetables (jaachoi) and shiitake mushrooms.
The taste is similar to the omnipork tofu at Green Common Deli recipe from TASTE. Kowloon Tong but GCD is sweeter.
As it was salty, I requested for more rice to finish it off and they were happy to give me more rice.
Funnily enough, I was still hungry afterwards.
Even though it was too salty, I am still going to try another branch and see how it compares.

It was Friday night and I was in Polam to visit the newly opened USelect so I tried my luck!!!

It was on the menu and still available to order as it was 6ish that time as most people dine out on Friday nights.

Evenings are better as you get table service just like McDonalds.
If it wasn't for omnipork, I doubt I would be dining here as the meat isn't edible because you just get fat and bones which I end up not eating.
This was my second time having this dish as I had it the previous night in Wanchai and it was too salty.

It looked promising here as the sauce was like gravy and it wasn't so dark or paste like.
Here they give you kidney beans which I didn't get at WC.
It was salty but not as salty a WC.
It was the best omnipork tofu I have tried because you can taste the Sichuan peppercorns, salted vegetables (jaachoi) and shiitake mushrooms.

The taste is similar to the omnipork tofu at Green Common Deli recipe from TASTE. Kowloon Tong but GCD is sweeter.
Again, I was still hungry afterwards but I still plan to try their omnipork curry.

Vegetarian dishes with Omnipork at TEAWOOD

I am so glad that TEAWOOD has extended their menu with more vegetarian dishes.
TEAWOOD is modern and relaxed with different themes at different restaurants.

They have two new omnipork dishes.

There are also some other dishes that are worth trying because it uses Taiwanese ingredients such as white bittermelon and fried wax apple.
Tried the eggplant with spicy omnipork and it was similar to the Chinese eggplant with mince but the one here had a nice basil aroma.

It was a good dish with rice.
Also had the hand pulled noodles with omnipork in spicy tomato sauce.
It was nice and filling just like fettucine but the texture was chewy and firm.
The spicy tomato sauce was spicy and tangy which made it moreish.
We also had the white bittermelon which is also recommended as the white bittermelon is imported from Taiwan.
There were other Taiwanese snacks like Sweet potato with prune powder and fish tofu.
Overall impressed that Teawood has made the move with omnipork.
Finished with the purple potato milk which was a soothing and sweet finish.

Chilled noodles with omnipork

It has been a while since I have last been to The Joomak and again every time I go there is something new to try.

On this visit, they had chilled noodles which were perfect on a hot day.

There are three choices of pork, beef and omnipork.
Tried the beef and omnipork.

The vegetarian one comes with omnipork jelly terrine in the middle with soymilk foam.

Beneath it is dry ice which makes it visually stunning.

The omnipork terrine was refreshing with a strong taste of lemongrass.

Here was the beef version of the chilled noodles which came with egg.

To eat, you just mix the noodles with the sauce in the bowl.

The other dish I have been meaning to try was the fried chicken which is evidently successful as it has been on the menu for quite a while.

The chicken looked exactly as shown on the picture.

Each bite was damn good because of the sauce which tasted like guacamole that made it moreish

Plant Based dishes for less than HKD50 at Tsui Wah

Tsui Wah is a famous restaurant that serves Hong Kong style dishes.
I was really excited to find out that Tsui Wah Restaurants are serving omnipork which is the current trend for plant based alternatives.

In general, the prices at Tsui Wah can be pricier than similar restaurants so I was elated that their plant based dishes were under HKD50!!

On the plant based menu, they have the classic Baked Omnipork Bolognese Spaghetti for HKD49 and the local Hong Kong favourite, Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice for just HKD45.
If you want it totally vegan, you can request for it without egg and cheese which they are happy to accommodate.
As well as main dishes, you can also get your vegetable fix with chilled okra complimented by wasabi soy sauce.

+++++++++
Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice:
I am so glad this is now on the menu because I loved it, bolognese and rice is simply delicious together and more nutritious with egg if you can eat it.
+++++++++
Baked Omnipork Bolognese Spaghetti:
For pasta lovers, this is another good option, again you can request it without cheese.
+++++++++
I will definitely be coming back for the Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice because it is just comforting and filling.

For those who are new to omnipork, it is cholesterol free, lower in calories and unsaturated fats.

I love sausage rolls and I love omnipork so I had to try the omnipork sausage roll.
They also have beyond meat pies as well.
When you buy it, they reheat it for you.
I was surprised how delicious it was because you could taste all the usual sausage roll herbs.
The only thing that I wasn't prepared for was the spiciness which overpowered the everything.

I am so glad there are two Green Common Delis, one at Kowloon Tong and the other one is here!
Last time had the tofu so this time got the omnipork with aubergine.
Both of these dishes are flavourful but the taste of the Aubergine was my favourite because it had lots of shimijei mushrooms with a touch of ginger as well as those brown fermented soy beans.
 0 讚好

The aubergines were chunky and soft with lots of omnipork.
Overall it was affordable as it only cost me HKD28.

I am so glad that I was in KT recently as I hardly go there these days because there are too many people and supermarkets in Hong Kong do my head in as they didn't used to have the self check outs.
Now that supermarkets have these self check outs, I am more willing to go shopping these days however their system is still not as advanced as UK and other countries because reduced items or people paying with vouchers/discounts still have to go human manned tills.
All they have to do is stick a reduced barcode for people to scan but being HK, there is no trust.

Didn't take many photos of the counter as I didn't expect it to be listed.

Got the Mapo Tofu for HKD29.5 which is extremely reasonable made with omnipork, however they do not serve rice at that counter but you can get it at other counters at the supermarket.
 0 讚好

It was quite impressive as the portion was big and there was quite a fair amount of ominpork in it.

Basically all the dishes are in the heated cabinet so you can see before you buy and eat it straight away as it is hot.
The taste of the mapo tofu was quite flavourful but the garlic and sweetness was quite prominent but overall delicious.
