There are so many branches of Ocean Empire congee but the quality is different at different branches.

For fried noodles, it is good that most branches serve it hot but tried the Sichuan stir fried noodles here and it was bad.
Previously tried the noodles at North Point and it was tasty with Sichuan spices but at this branch they used grounded pepper which is not how it was meant to taste.

On another visit, had the fried noodles which were edible.

Omnipork Curry

Went to Fairwood for Omnipork again, this time it was curry on the menu so I decided to try it.
HKD41 with table service and a drink that I could drink deemed worthy of trying.

The curry looked ok when it came.
I would describe it as four elements on the plate: red rice, curried omnipork, kidney beans and possibly frozen vegetables.

The curried omnipork was quite spicy but tasty and it was cooked with diced onions and it had these tiny white balls which looked like mustard seeds.
Anyway, the curry went nicely with the rice.
The vegetables and red beans were just vegetables as they were not cooked with curry so they just tasted like blanched frozen veggies!

A tricolour bowl of wontons

I am not really a fan of super super congee but often I see their posters on the mtr and fall for their new products.
This time it was the tricolour wonton noodles.
On the menu, there are two options, you can get tricolours hkd38 or just the two different wontons for hkd36 .
The wontons looked roughly the same as advertised but the colour wasn't as rich.
The green ones are the truffle, the reds are Spicy and the normal ones are just the regular shrimp wontons.
Overall, the Sichuan wontons were good but a little too spicy to handle.
But anyway, I feel that wonton noodles are possibly choking hazards because they wontons are big and slippery that using a fork would be better.
The noodles are also too slippery to pick up.

Secluded spot for Japanese food

Hang Hau village is no big secret if you live there and there is a film studio nearby so the only way to get out is taking the minibus from Hanghau village to choihung or HKU.
I was in the area because of Uselect so went here for dinner before I went shopping.

There is quite a lot on offer but I opted for the Donburis.
Although I didn't get the grilled skewers I got the unagidon as the guy looked professional at grilling the stuff.

[IMG:https%3A%2F%2Fstatic5.orstatic.com%2Fuserphoto2%2Fphotopending%2F2D%2F1VFW%2F0DBL4G66601F118E756C33px.jpg]

Started with the prawn soup which you can see is really strong.
It tasted like concentrated lobster bisque.
Both donburis were to my liking.
The portions were small but I strangely felt full afterwards and they give you freshly grated wasabi.
Personally I liked the salmon and salmon roe because they just taste delicious with rice and you get a piece of calamansi which you can use to make it more appetizing.
Will be back again for other stuff next time.

The hype of almost over

I am not sure what the hype is but this shop wouldn't be seen open past 4pm because everything would be sold out.
The hype is almost over since there are no queues now during the weekdays.
The popular choices are the sweet ones but I am more interested in the savoury choices.
Settled for the spring onion miso croissant which was crusted with sesame seeds on the top.
It was a pretty airy croissant so it was hard all the way through.
The miso was quite nice so it was an interesting pairing of Japanese ingredients with the croissant.

Phole is known as the best pho in Vietnam but personally I like the North American ones as the broth tastes different.
The pho is ok here with a glass of herbs, not bad but just not my cup of tea.
I didn't like the pho they used but the broth was ok.

Despite being in Hanghau quite often, I haven't had time to try this but since this restaurant has been there for a year now and the queues have gone I finally decided to go.
It is located on the corner near Marks and Spencer and Muji.
The decor is modern yet with a twist of old school elements to it.

Obviously they specialize in casseroles aka Chinese claypot dishes.

There were two rice pot dishes that got my attention because of the creativity and simply it would taste quite different served in a pot.
The hainan chicken which is normally served in a plate was presented in a casserole.
The chicken and pickles were laid on top.
In terms of taste, it was super hot and the rice had more flavours because of the constant heat from the casserole forces aroma in it while you are eating. I loved the pickles as well as they were tart and not sweet like other restaurants.

The other rice pot had a Japanese twist to it, the rice for this one was more al dente so I liked it and there was a lovely matcha fragrance infused in every grain of rice but not too overpowering.
As well as the eel, there were dried Sakura shrimps which came it a crunch and briny flavour.
The eel was delicate and sweet brushed with Teriyaki sauce.

Last but not least was the traditional fermented red bean curd vegetable casserole.

This was the best  fermented red beancurd vegetable casserole I have had as it was not sweet or oily and the red bean curd was strong.
It might be a bit strong for others but I think this is how it should taste.

[Review 7259] Haagen Daz kicked out for Tea! @ Comebuytea

Previously this spot used to be Haagen Daz but now it is a tea joint and HD has moved to a smaller joint round the corner!Tea is the trend these days and it costs cheaper than HD icecream while making tea will take longer than scooping out icecream so I guess they will have to have a good turnover.
But then their rent could be cheaper than HD as the mall is trying to attract more people by changing the brands about.

Anyway, ComeBuy Tea has suddenly decided to boom everywhere with some branches at top locations such as the GF of TOP Mall in MK.

I was captivated by the large glass cylinders of tea leafs and the machinery which is similar to coffee machinery but didn't try it because the machinery was rather noisy.
Finally tried the one at HH as it was relatively not so noisy.
The hot tea was actually quite good so I will probably come back to try the guava tea.

Mos Burger used to be located on the 1st floor next to Gin Curry but all that has gone and turned into a big clothes shop.
It has now moved upstairs with the dining area downsized to a small bar.
All I had was drinks because the dining area isn't as comfy as before.
The matcha latte was pretty inexpensive for $2x topped with whipped cream.
It was quite sweet with a mild grassy aftertaste.
The tea at Mos burger is always interesting, some serve it with the tea bag already in the hot water while some branches let you put the tea bag in yourself, and this other branch strangely gave me milk and lemon!

Tapas at boring Hang Hau

Say goodbye to HoYuen Express and Hello to What The Food which serves young and modern Tapas in the boring town of Hanghau.

The grilled cheese caught my eye as I love real grilled cheeses which might be a bit too funky for the area.
Anyway, at this point the Chinese confused me because it says there is chicken or tuna which was not my pure grilled cheese although they were able to do just a plain grilled cheese for it.

As they specialize in tapas I decided to try the croquettes.
The desserts looked delicious as well because they are churros rolled into a circular spiral to sandwich icecream in between.

They even had Pintxos, Tapas, Spanish tortillas etc but as I was having food afterwards I went for the croquettes.
Again the Chinese confused me here as croquettes are normally mashed potato with fish/bacon or whatever but the Chinese was Spanish Fried Milk.
Anyway, there were four different flavours: Sweetcorn. Beetroot, Mushroom and Spinach.
Got the sampler which had all four.

They were very hot so had to wait for it to cool down first.
Decided to try them in the following order because wanted to start with the lighter tasting ones first.
Sweetcorn - Mushroom - Spinach - Beetroot.
The sweetcorn turned to be a bit boring, perhaps it would be tasty with pieces of bacon in it.
But the other three were damn delicious, I can't decide which one was my favourite because they were all good especially the spinach. the beetroot was the strongest in taste as well as the mushroom.
Finished with the churros which were quite nice.

Next time I will try the bikini and the churros icecream sandwich which has a modern touch with Meringue and Okinawa Salt icecream etc.

Syrupy Juice
This shop is really popular in HH because there isn't a competitor for fresh juices.Anyway, ordered the cherry and apple juice.
I was pretty annoyed as she ran out of apples and put Asian pears instead which I hate because they are sweet and syrupy.
I couldn't quite taste the apple or cherries and it was rather syrupy sweet so I didn't like it.
