This joint is round the corner from the famous pork chop place that has two furry cats.
Although not many people know about this joint, it has already been filmed by a few people.
I was captivated here by the fried chicken leg because it looked good in this golden coating and it was not cut.
When I got there, the staff were friendly but then everyone is generally friendly on the Sheungwan side.
Ended up coming here quite a few times.
On the first visit, had the fried chicken leg and chicken wings.
The fried chicken leg was as good as expected because the coating was even and crunchy while the chicken was tender.

The chicken wings were the best chicken wings ever because they were infused with Chinese wine and served hot.
Most chicken wings which are marinated in wine are served cold but these wings were hot and springy.

On the second visit, tried the bap which is basically an Irish bap.
As there isn't really a name for it in Chinese, they just named it the "mut bau" as in the What bun!
Ordered the pork chop bap and had it with the chicken wing meat which was much nicer.
Will definitely come back again for the wings and as well as other items on the menu.

Sandwich that will make you come!!!

A while ago I saw pictures of this sandwich joint with their famous slogan:
"sandwich that will make you come" which got me curious.
I thought it was a sandwich hub serving a wide variety of sandwiches but it turns out to be a Vegetarian Indian joint that serves more than sandwiches.
Discovered it one evening when I wasn't looking for it so decided to go in and try something.
It was really hard deciding what to order as everything was tempting.
In the end I had the Cheese toast.
The toast is made with Amul cheese which tastes just as good as cheddar with a curd like texture similar to cottage cheese.
It is crispy and thin so you taste more of the cheese and they give you this orgasmic green sauce which is slightly spicy made with ginger, coriander, chili and some secret stuff.
Also tried the cheese chili which was just as good loaded with vegetables and the cucumbers in it were delicious.
Overall, their sandwiches were delicious so I glad I tried it.
Everything here is Vegetarian and Jain by request.
Will definitely be coming back.

Since Rolling congee closed, I haven't had congee for long time.
One night, a restaurant that I was planning to go was shut hence fate led me here.
It was on the corner and there was a big flyer with congee and some interesting snacks so I decided to try it.
Unfortunately, it was hot that day so it was the wrong day for congee but I still had it as I was there.

The guy wasn't very welcoming at first but he was actually super friendly.
+++++++++++
For the congee, I had the [chicken and fish maw congee] which cost HKD25.
0 讚好
Chicken and fish maw the congee was expected as it was called chicken and fish maw but the things that made it look expensive were the mock sharkfins and beancurd sheets.
The congee really made my day because I love mock sharkfins and there were loads of it in the congee.
The chicken is the usual on bone so you have to watch out for bone fragments.
+++++++++++
Next were the [salmon dumplings].
To be honest, I ordered them because they looked like grilled salmon!!!
0 讚好
To my surprise, it was similar to fishball with minced salmon filling in the middle.
0 讚好
+++++++++++
Another exclusive that they do is [Rice Patty Pancakes] which are similar pancakes but made with cooked grains of rice.
I definitely recommend this because it is savoury and different.
Different fillings obviously taste different so it depends on what you like.
The liver one was unusual and luncheon ham simply tastes amazing.
++++++
For dessert, there was Eight Treasure Congee which is their signature.
It contains so many different pulses such as green beans, red beans etc.
++++++
Went back another day as I was in the area and had the lotus wrapped rice, purple potato buns and LOBSTER SHAOMAI which was nice and filling for lunch.
Will be back if I am in the area because I love this joint especially the rice patty pancakes.

Goodbye Mr. M

I wasn't expecting this to be my first and last visit to Mr. M!
Anyway, this joint has been open for a year now but I only just found out as I was in the area recently for Cart Noodles.
Located in an Alleyway is Mr. M serving Scotch Eggs, Burgers and Fish Fingers and Chips.
On the counter was a Pop-Up Pirate where players take turns to insert plastic swords into slots.
The unlucky person who launches the pirate is eliminated.
I was tempted to play but it wouldn't be funny if the pirate landed in the frying vat as I had just ordered the Scotch Egg and Fish Fingers with Chips!!!!
[Fish Fingers and Chips]
I loved the chips which were flat and chunky, the Tartar Sauce they used was creamy with a little bit of tartness similar to the ones at McDonald's but not so acidic.
The Fish Fingers were ok but not as Fishy as Bird's Eye Fish Fingers.
Now to the star of the show [Scotch Egg]
Overall it tasted really good but I was concerned the bottom part was a bit pink so I asked because traditionally it is sausage meat/pork mince.
Found out that it was beef so they said pink is ok for beef which makes sense as beef tartare is eaten raw.
Hopefully someone will make a omnipork version soon so vegetarians can devour this as well.
Unfortunately it will be their last day this Saturday according to the guy.
Giving this a smile because they serve all my favourites but Tsuen Wan is a bit out of the way for expats.

Best beef sando in my opinion

The first SANDO I had was at Sunday's Groceries a few years ago where they put a runny egg inside.
Trending at the moment are these expensive Wagyu Sandos with the priciest from Wagyumafia.
Although I haven't tried Wagyumafia, I managed to try the one at PIQNIQ at H Queens.
The wagyu sando there was a bit too buttery for my liking in the sense the toast had too much butter.
Discovered SANDO.BA had a popup at PMQ Tastekitchen for a limited time so I was lucky I managed to go when they had it.
The menu was simple, clearly the sandos had to be tried.

There were different cuts of beef as well as IMPOSSIBLE MEAT.
Wagyu Sando was my firm choice but I would have wanted to try Impossible as well.
When the sando arrived, it was how I expected it to be.
The wagyu was red and moist, about 1 inch thick.
The bread was toasted just right in the sense it is still soft in the middle.
Comparing with other Wagyu Sandos, there are a variety of sauces that can be used.
Normally Teriyaki is used but this one was evidently tomato and I could smell onion in it as well.
It worked for me because I prefer tomato sauce over cloyingly sweet Japanese sauces and it wasn't smothered in butter either.
Funnily it smelt like McDonalds simplest Hamburger with just the onions and tomato ketchup.
As well as the sauce and bread, the wagyu was soft and meaty so it was the best Sando I had.
The bread used was from Garden Bakery which strangely tasted good as the stuff I usually get from the supermarket tastes crap unless I buy the continental type.
For sides had the lotus root chips which I thought were spicy even though they were not meant to be spicy.
The soba noodles were also good , they were topped with eggyolk shavings and karasumi which gives it a lovely fishy saltyness.

I am not quite sure how to react but the Chinese culture is always mocked for eating dogs especially in Chi Naaaaaa.
In UK people would always joke and ask if dog meat was served in Chinese Takeaways and restaurants.
When I saw dog on the menu from the flyer I decided to check it out and it didn't really say what it was.
There were bunnies as well which looked like they had German measles.
Well, pretty realistic and they look like a newborn foetuses wobbling about.
Ok, so it wasn't a real pup but some pudding!
Also had the golden abalone ingot which was just jelly with sweetcorn and abalone in it,.
The fish was quite good as it was topped with black bean sauce.
Unfortunately, you get charged tea per person which comes in the form of tea bags with a jar of hot water.
