Best Kept Secret

This joint is round the corner from the famous pork chop place that has two furry cats.
Although not many people know about this joint, it has already been filmed by a few people.

I was captivated here by the fried chicken leg because it looked good in this golden coating and it was not cut.

When I got there, the staff were friendly but then everyone is generally friendly on the Sheungwan side.

Ended up coming here quite a few times.
On the first visit, had the fried chicken leg and chicken wings.

The fried chicken leg was as good as expected because the coating was even and crunchy while the chicken was tender.

The chicken wings were the best chicken wings ever because they were infused with Chinese wine and served hot.
Most chicken wings which are marinated in wine are served cold but these wings were hot and springy.

On the second visit, tried the bap which is basically an Irish bap.
As there isn't really a name for it in Chinese, they just named it the "mut bau" as in the What bun!
Ordered the pork chop bap and had it with the chicken wing meat which was much nicer.

Will definitely come back again for the wings and as well as other items on the menu.

Second branch of Home Dumplings

This is the second branch of Home Dumplings in the area.
The first branch is near Central with more dumplings to choose from which are on rotation.

At this branch you can only choose the choices on the wall and it wasn't as exciting as my first visit to the other branch as I was faced with so many choices of sauce and different dumplings.

Anyway, tried the dumpling with preserved vegetables.
It was palatable and the preserved vegetables were chunky and salty.
The pork had some weird chewy bits in it which I didn't eat.
Overall, ok but a bit pricey.

Tried to list this on openrice a while ago but it got rejected so I couldn't be arsed to submit it again.
Went here in June when it was scorching.
There are two seats as it is a takeaway with eat in.

I wanted to order the desserts but they were not available.
Had the lamb shorba soup which was super spicy but it was reasonable as Indian food is spicy.
The only complaint was the saltiness.
It was so salty that dipping naan bread in it would do.

Not mooncakes this time but tea

Since my fave French joint closed, this spot has been regularly opening and closing with drinks joints and other stuff.

Went past and discovered something was there again so had a look.
It was drinks so just got a plain cold brew tea as I was thirsty.
I would have ordered the [Light as dust] series but I didn't spot that.
Clearly I wasn't interested in their other drinks because I already had a sweet drink in my hand that was a sweetened drink and clearly not thirst quenching.

Anyway it appears I may have interrupted something as they looked at me strangely but then all hkers are like that.

The shop had cookies, dried fruits and some cakes which I shall check out next time.

The store is branded with DustyKid which appeared on East Ocean Groups mooncakes a few years ago.

As for the tieguanyin, the tea flavour wasn't very prominent but as I was thirsty it didn't matter!

Another tea place has popped up so decided to check it out.
The name of this one is quite fancy just like 2decimalplacest.
On the menu, there were so many drinks to choose from like milkshake, straight teas to fancy teas and there were sweet treats as well.
As it was a hot day, I settled for the Caramelized pineapple tea which has a caramelized pineapple on top where they torch it when you order.

As you can see, there is a lot of pineapple pulp at the bottom so you have to mix it well when you drink it.
Overall it was quite refreshing because of the fizz.
The prices here are affordable as well!

Shunde delights in Sheung Wan

After trying the CWB branch of Fung Shing, I decided to try the Sheung wan branch as it is much more convenient.
I love this branch because it feels old and basically the vibes in Sheung wan are much nicer.
The menu is pretty much the same.
Started with the orange intestines and jellyfish.

I am not a fan of intestines but the jellyfish was generous, each slice was chunky and fat.

Next were the traditional golden money chicken.
The slice of liver was velvety and the roast pork was meaty however I left out the slice of lard a usual.

Prawn Toasts are a must:

For the mains, had the fish in two ways, stir fried and fried on top of brocoli.

Also had the scrambled egg which tasted better than the CWB branch.
Vegetables were delicious as they were tender cooked in a delicious broth.
Overall, this is my favourite branch as I like the location and staff!

My second hangout in Sheungwan

There is a Hangout Corner in POHO that serves good steaks and now they have another hangout on Mercer Street which is closer to the MTR station and a great place for dinner as it is currently undiscovered so nice and quiet.
It makes sense to have their restaurants close to each other so that it is easier to manage.
The menu is the same with affordable steaks and a good range of side dishes to choose from in the evening.
Lunches are simpler and quick to suit people who are working nearby.

The ambiance is nice and casual with self service cutlery and sauces.
Started with the spritzers which were refreshing.

For meats,  had the pork chop and steak.
Both were to my liking especially the pork chop which was huge and moist.
For sides, had the sweet potato fries, baked cheese and tomato and popcorn shrimp.
To my surprise, the cheese and cherry tomatoes were my favourite because the cheese was good.
The popcorn shrimp was seasoned just right with a bouncy and crisp texture.

Overall a great place to hangout in the evenings.
