Tornade omelette to the next level at Le Menu

As well as delectable buffets at Le Menu, you can get an instaworthy lunch with the Tornado omelette 旋風蛋叉燒飯 or if you are hungry you can pay a little more to include salad buffet and a drink.
When I saw them post this on FB, I was definitely captivated because they have given the Tornado egg with a local Chinese twist with the use of Barbeque pork and spring onions.

Finally went for late lunch and I was the last to have it.

When it arrived, it was stunning like a swirled omelette generously sprinkled with crisp green spring onions and sweet purple shallots.

The Barbeque pork is piled on top of the rice beneath this pretty omelette skirt.I seriously recommending watching videos on youtube on how they make it because it is so magical watching the chopsticks twist in the middle of the omelette to get the tornado effect before the egg gets cooked.

Anyway, back to my Tornado omelette, there is a side of house made sauce which tastes like the soy sauce from that famous place Shun Hing in Tai Hang infused with spring onions.
Adding their secret recipe sauce makes it complete.

Every spoonful was divine with the omelette and spring onions in your mouth while the slices of barbecue pork are tender, lean and flavourful complimented by their house special sauce which tastes like fragrant soy sauce with the sweetness of stir fried spring onions and shallots.

From the new territories yuen long to the city.
DS heritage has branched out to CWB with a shop on the corner according to the staff gossiping with family in the UK as well.
Anyway, expect this shop to be busy during peak hours as dimsum is always popular at any quality.

Tried the rolls which were crispy and oily inside.

The dumplings were a bit bland.

The only thing I liked was the soup.

Went to Marks and Sparks for some bakery.
Ended up getting a custard donut and a cinnamon swirl.

I would definitely get the custard donut again because the custard was silky and loaded with vanilla seeds.
The texture of the donut was non oily and fluffy.
As for the cinnamon swirl it is best reheated so that the swirl is nice and flaky.

Venchi is almost everywhere now in Hong Kong, there is a new branch at POPCORN that opened a few months ago.
As I was at the Hopewell Centre, decided to get some gelato.
Gelatos are priced HKD55, HKD68 and HKD78.

Got the mini for HKD55 with two flavours and chose the pistachio and hazelnut.
The pistachio was my favourite in the sense that it was thick and creamy.
Probably won't be back because the flavours are boring.

Oily and herbal broth

Jaffe Road has changed a lot in the past ten years, this spot used to be some Vietnamese joint.

Tried the noodles here which are served in a herbal soup.
It was nice but there was also a lot of oil as well.
The only thing I didn't like was that there was only one choice of noodle so if you don't like Yunnan rice noodles then you won't want to order it so it is best to just order soup but then you can see how oily it is.

Only went here because of the drink that comes in a plastic can with a ring pull lid.
Unfortunately, you can only choose certain drinks so I got the pineapple soy milk slush.
Despite asking for it not so sweet, the drink tasted super super sweet and syrupy.
It tasted better after diluting it with milk.

I am not sure how long this drink has been on the menu but when I found out they had Pandan Sago I had to get it.
As well as sago and pandan there were cubes of taro in it.
Every sip was bliss as it had a strong pandan flavour with sago and taro.
The taro was firm but it wasn't hard and starchy.

Looking forward to more pandan and other creative dishes!

I was getting the ferry so Tea One was on my path and they were also giving away drinks subject to some conditions!
Got the rose and lemon honey which was refreshing on a hot day.
It wasn't too sweet balanced by the lemon with a lovely rosy fragrance.

Stew is doing very well.
Since its first branch in LCK, there are now three branches.
The new wanchai branch is a bit off the radar from WC or CWB.

Ironically it is near another Chinese soup shop so it has competition however the seating area is bigger and spacious at STEW.

The menu option is the same as the other branches.

All soups are salt and msg free.
There is salt at the condiments area which can be used if required.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the red dates and the snow fungus soup.
There were so many plump dates and snow fungus in the pot so it had a sweet taste that was soothing.

Overall, I was most impressed with this branch compared to the other two, but then quality should be good during the first few months!

Fancy Teas at Moon Street

I have always wanted to try Basao Tea on Moon Street and now they have another branch coming to CWB.
They offer nitro teas which are unsweetened but as I have already tried it at another tea joint I had the tea crystals which is basically tea jelly.
The cubes of tea jelly are dusted with tea dust which makes it more fancy.
Overall, the cubes of tea jelly were quite nice and not too sweet but I would have liked the tea taste to be stronger.

Basao tea was full so went here instead.

Didn't find the staff friendly upon entering as they just gave you the typical stares and looks like Chinese people do.
Ordered tea as I was thirsty .

The cups were not that clean so exchanged for a clean one.
The tea turned out quite nice and it was thirst quenching.
Overall a cozy place for drinks and once the staff have warmed up they were quite nice.

Five guys milkshake

I have always wanted to try Five Guys milkshake but strangely they took their time with it.
It costs HKD55 which isn't cheap.

The MILKSHAKES are handspun vanilla milkshakes with or without whipped cream.
You can choose as many free mix-ins as you like according to their website.
The mix ins available are Bacon, Bananas, Cherries, Chocolate, Coffee, Malted Milk, Oreo Cookie Pieces,Peanut butter, Salted Caramel and Strawberries.

I chose 3 mix ins!
-Sweet Ghirardelli caramel with a savory kick
-Crispy, sweet applewood-smoked bacon chopped and mixed for a salty crunch in your shake
-Real, tart cherries.

While I was waiting, I could see the guy put real bacon in it.
It was really sweet as expected but I loved it especially the salty bacon crispy pieces
The cherry was prominent as well but I really regretted not adding the malt which is an American classic.

Anyway, looking forward to trying the K11 Musea branch.
