Wong Lam Kee has been around for decades.
There was a shop in Shaukeiwan which has moved and now there is another joint in Chaiwan.

The location is a bit off the radar as it is located in the residential area of Chaiwan.

I went there for two things: Fish lips and the Spring onion fishballs.

Not many places or if any serve Fish lips with noodles.
The last time I had it was many years ago for dinner at Linheung house where it was served in gravy as a main dish for dinner.

To be honest, fish lips were a bargain as each piece was big and gelatinous.

The fish belly wasn't so good though, it was just the usual spongy stuff.

The spring onion fishballs were quite good and something different.

The noodles were just noodles.

Overall, an affordable choice if you are in the area.

Spotted these Daifukus at Sushi Take out so decided to try them.
They come in a box of six for HKD15.

From left to right were original, chocolate and mango.

To be honest, they were balls of glutinous pastry filled with cream and dusted with icing sugar.
In a way it was nice because they used cream instead of traditional red bean paste but the cream they used was tacky synthetic cream which wasn't so nice.

It's been a while since I have dined at Marsino but as it was a hot day so decided to go in for drinks.
Ordered the passionfruit tea and the four seasons tea with salted milk cap.
The passionfruit tea fared better but the four seasons tea with salted milk cap was a bit tasteless.
The passionfruit tea was a bit sweet but it was pleasant to drink as it was made with the usual syrup.
There was a slice of lemon in it as well.
Overall, a nice corner to have drinks if you are thirsty.

I didn't have any expectations so I didn't get any disappointments here. The items were very affordable but they just didn't impress.
The only thing that tasted alright was the gyoza and the rest were too oily.

The green pepper thing has been refried many  times and the fish mince in the middle has shriveled up.

The Chinese naan was too dry and heavy, again very oily.

The savoury tofu didn't taste good because it was ruined by the over fried oily burnt dried shrimps.

Had some crappy food nearby so decided to get some soup and tea eggs from here.
The place is freezing with two air conditioners above the seating  which probably explains why no one is sitting on these comfy chair.

Herbal Square is part of the Yan Wo Tong groups so they offer the same soup range.
The plates have Yan Wo Tong even though the picture of the bowl shows Herbal Square.
Got a soup and two tea eggs.
The soup was served in a plastic bowl which was very different to the other branches.
Other than the presentation, the overall taste was strong and msg free.
One of the eggs was dry and hard but they were happy to exchange it.
Out of all the tea eggs I have tried, the ones here lacked a herbal flavour and they were too sweet for my liking.

Depending on where you go and live, you either see more of Tong Kee Bao Dim or Bao Dim Sin Seng.
There are two branches of BDSS at Chaiwan, the branch at Wan Tsui Shopping Centre is better because there are bar tables for the food joints nearby.

There are two custard buns, one is the standard and the other is the extra runny custard filling which was new so I tried it.
The bun is quite big and the there is more bun to filling.
As the filling is quite sweet, I ripped open the bun and dipped the edges into it which turned out quite nice.

Shaomai Prince is popping up everywhere.I was in the area so couldn't resist getting some shaomai from this joint because they are freshly made.
There is a table opposite so you can eat stuff that is bought from these joints.
I got the mixed shaomai for HKD20, there were 4 black and 4 originals.
They tasted great with the chili sauce but the soy sauce wasn't that nice because it was too sweet.
Overall, the black remains my favourite as it has pieces of squid in it.

Fell for HM again when I did not intend to buy it, this time fell for the clams and vegetable soup which was served piping hot.
It was nice and clear with finely chopped vegetables.
As there were clams in it, there was a unami aftertaste.
There was okra, clams, carrots, sweetcorn and courgettes which all make it healthy and the sweetcorns gave it it a lovely sweet taste.
Finished with the rich melty egg yolk which tastes good every time as the filling is rich and tasty that compliments every grain of rice.

Hello HM, Goodbye Mrs Fields Cookies
2018-09-13  127 瀏覽
This spot used to be Mrs Fields Cookies for quite a few years, since I don't know when but now it is Hana Musubi!
I was quite shocked at the change but at least Hana Musubi is a good brand.
Every time I pop to have to look, I end up getting something.

This time it was the new September treat, it was tofu skin and seaweed so I got two.
There was a nice hint of wasabi but unfortunately, there was not enough filling inside both of them.
More tofu skin would be nice.
Luckily, the musubi still tasted ok because the crispy seaweed wrap on the outside gives it flavour as well as structure.

I have always wanted to try HOW COOL but they are located in Chai Wan.
Luckily they were at Ocean Park so I finally got to try them.
It was a grilled mushroom on top of mash with meat sauce and cheese sauce.
The mushroom was big and juicy but the meat sauce was a little sweet so next time I am going to order the one with just cheese or see if there is anything new.

Thanks to Maxim's PR agency for this cake.
The cake is called Cacao Barry which is made with Cacao Barry chocolate.
Cacao Barry is a brand of chocolate founded by Charles Barry in France in 1842.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cacao Barry:

It was a Bailey's chocolate mousse cake.
Inside the cake there is a layer of Bailey's mousse, white chocolate mousse, dark chocolate cake, dark chocolate mousse and a crispy chocolate base.
The outside of the cake is covered in dark chocolate sauce.
Although the cake looks quite small, you could actually get 14 decent sized slices from it.

The taste of the chocolate was really strong but slightly too sweet, it tasted like coffee even though there was no coffee in it.
The cake stayed in shape when it was sliced unlike some other cakes that collapse when you slice them.
