The food here in general is good, I saw the fried chicken set with rice.
The name was weird, crunchy jade (tsui - tsui), the jade usually means courgettes.
Anyway, the set comes with iced ribena with jelly.
From the product shot there is no soy sauce on the rice, however there was soy sauce on my plate of rice, other than that, it was 80% like the product picture.
There was crunchy garlic sprinkled on top, which I thought could be missed out, as it tasted nice without them.
The pieces of chicken was juicy and tender, and coating of the chicken is so similar to the fried chicken at "cheese pizza".
Interestingly, this is the first chinese fried chicken I thought was nice, usually it is uncoated chicken directly put in oil and fried.
For improvements, it should be served with chips and ketchup.

[Review 952] High expectations with slight disappointment @ Frey & Ford
31/12/2010
Frey & Ford
中環港鐵香港站地下1層HOK69號舖
Shop 69, LG1/F, Hong Kong MTR Station, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/high-expectations-with-slight-disappointment-e2140028
When it first opened, the pictures of the food were amazing, they reminded me of the savory sandwiches at La Salon De Robuchon.
I arrived there at 11.40 thinking of a late breakfast, however I was surprised there were no sandwiches in the display counter, so I walked elsewhere and came back at noon, and the Chef was just putting the sandwiches on display, the Salmon sandwiche was the last to come and still in the making.
I am surprised that it is located in Central, and they start late. I would of thought there would be alot of people ordering gourmet breakfasts from there.
Presentation, they were as pretty as expected, and instead of the fillings sandwiched in between, they were on top of the bread like fine patisserie.
Also at the scene was a food and hygiene inspector issuing their new license, hence they are now fully licensed.
For the sandwich range, I was told only the top 8 were available and the rest were Chef's daily specials.
The range available were:
Salmon dill creme,
Peking chicken,
Poached egg and sausage,
Roast beef,
Grilled pepper caponata,
Giallo salad,
Branston double decker,
Salade nicoise
I was going to get the poached egg and sausage, which is similar to English breakfast, however the poached egg wasnt the usual poached style, but a hard boiled one.
So in the end I ordered the Salmon dill creme, and the ones I was most looking forward to were not available.
I think its annoying when its printed on the menu, and it is not available to order, perhaps because they are more expensive, so there would be no profit under the opening promotion.
The ones I was hoping to order were:
Rock shrimp milanese (rock shrimp, saffron aoili and chives)
Moti mahal classic (diced tandoori chicken housed in a bread bowl)
Hummus pita wheel (hummus, ham, olives wrapped in a pita bread roll)
Luckily, they had a promotion because 3 out of the 4 items I wanted were not available.
The salmon sandwich was nice as expected.
For drinks I got Inko's Melon Iced Tea, it is packaged similarly to Snapple, but not as sugary as stated.
The taste was light and refreshing, the taste of tea was stronger than the melon.

I am not fond of Chinese food but just tried these dishes.
The wax duck is basically like a Chinese version of Parma ham, except that it was duck.
The wax sausages were the usual taste, but they were inferior compared to the ones in CWB, as the ones there contain duck blood and liver.
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2065785
If you compare the liver sausages, the one at CWB are much darker, richer and less in fat content.
The chicken with rice was the worst, it was fat, skin and bones, and hardly any meat to eat at all.

Food here was excellent, the choice of food was acceptable.
The best item was the crunchy pork knuckle, it has truly crunchy skin, and the pork was still tender and not dry.
For the desserts, there were many items ranging from fruit to bread pudding.
There was raclette cheese too!
Service was excellent, they start your buffet off with a plate of fine pork knuckle cuts, sausage and sauerkraut.

[Review 949] Fusion dim sum at kowloon city @ 譚點 Tam Dim

九龍城南角道29號地下
G/F, 29 Nam Kok Road, Kowloon City
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/fusion-dim-sum-kowloon-city-e2140011
Reminds me of V cuisine which I am itching to go, but V Cuisine locations in Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong are a bit of a trek.
My initial impressions of the place was the noise, it was so noisy with people talking and the nasty clinking of the cups and bowls.
Anyway, sat down, it was freezing, and the air conditioning was so strong it was giving me the chills, the worst thing was, the temperature outside was warmer.
Ordered the toasted tea, which was rather bland.
All the teas they used were teabags, although the teabags are prepared by themselves, for a big teapot like that, there should be at least two bags inside or more tealeaves per bag.
The menu had chinese and english, but the english was slightly wrong,
MENU description: "beancurd sheet rolls with tomato and egg soup"
from the description I was expecting beancurd sheet rolls in tomato and egg soup literally, not thick tomato and egg sauce, and there was no indication in the english it was fried.
MENU description: "pomegranite juice pudding"
it wasnt pomegranite flavouring, but guava.
Ordred the following items:
MENU description: Baked rice with preserved sausage and chicken + preserved pork
There was nothing interesting about this dish.
MENU description:Steam pork dumpling with caviar
Just tasted how it should.
MENU description:Steamed rice rolls with slice beef and thousand year egg
This was the best dish, beef with cut pieces of preserved egg wrapped in rice roll.
MENU description:beancurd sheet rolls with tomato and egg soup
This wasnt what I was expecting, the tomato and egg soup was actually thick sauce, which went well with the deep fried meat.
This was the dish I expected it to look like, with the soup being tomato and egg as stated on the menu.
http://static1.openrice.com.hk/UserPhoto/photo/2/1U9/00D38FF1510597FA92C779m.jpg
MENU description: deep fried sticky meat dumpling
These were carrot shaped whey they arrived.
MENU description: deep fried pork dumpling and prawn dumpling
This was basically a porking dumpling and a prawn dumpling deep fried, however the prawn dumpling didnt taste as good as dragons descent.
http://static4.openrice.com.hk/UserPhoto/photo/1/138/007R1V4A6B500A42B2EBFEm.jpg
MENU description: Garlic cheese bun
Tasted like garlic bread.
MENU description: Mini wasabi mustard burger
There was no "wasabi" taste.
MENU description: pomegranite juice pudding
Just tasted like fake cream with a hint of guava not pomegranite
MENU description: Steamed brown sugar cake
This was bitter and the self raising flour didnt serve its purpose, because the texture was clumped together.

Ordered the sweet potato milkshake which is slightly different to the product picture.
However I do not have the product picture.
The product picture was basically purple milkshake with jelly in the drink.
When it came, it had wheatgerm on the top, and the milkshake was watery like rather than thick.
The taste was rather milky too.

Came all the way to try the vermicelli with chicken in fa diu wine, however when the noodles came, I could hardly smell the wine.
I then tried the soup, which didn't have the taste of wine, and it just tasted like plain chicken broth.
The chicken just tasted like plain chicken as well.
The drinks were OK, and the place was OK, over looking the sea.

It's so cool, MOS is spreading like virus!
Now there is as branch in Kowloon Bay as well as Lok Fu~!~
Tried the grilled chicken burger with orange sauce (HK) name, which was launched simultaneously all over Asia on 26th Dec 2010.
The Singapore one is slightly different, it is called Grilled chicken burger with Orange-Pepper sauce, however when I tried the HK version, it was the same, it also had pepper in it.Hopefully it is here to stay for good!
When I got the burger, it was just like the product shot, it was layered with thinly sliced onions at the bottom, which were semi-cooked, with a slight crispy texture. Then it was the grilled chicken on top with golden orange sauce on top with pieces of black pepper.
Finally the best part! A scrunched up cake make of miniature fries! HOW CUTE!!!!!!
I just couldn't resist breaking it up, so that they were individual chips!!
Anyway, this is my favourite burger out of the whole MOS selection.
I really liked the chicken with the wafer thin sliced onions, crispy potato and the sweet orange sauce.
However it was slightly messy to eat, and the chicken was slightly tough.
The crunchy potato was certainly fun and delicious, they are similar to coated chips, but in super cute mini form.
So cute I had to place those mini fries next to a chicken nugget.
But overall I still felt hungry afterwards, even though I had a burger, chicken nuggets and a tea.

There are various branches of Overseas Dragon, however at this branch they offer more options on the menu.
The other branches, they have instant noodles, but this branch has New bamboo rice noodles, but same as Trusty gourmet, they are thicker than the ones I usually see.
The noodles and broth was very plain, and I also ordered vegetarian chicken with kelp in Lo Shui sauce (no picture).
The environment was fairly quiet, but there were a lot of mandarin speaking diners.

B1, Capital Building, 6-10 Sun Wui Road, Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/chips-made-of-mushroom-e2139618
When I saw Mushroom poutine, I just had to try it.
It is not fries with mushroom sauce, but actually huge chunks of mushroom cut into the shape of thick cut fries.
The mushroom fries come covered in gravy and cheese, the gravy tastes like bistro gravy, however I would not call it poutine because there should be far more gravy than a few drops which is such a joke.
The mushroom fries are not crunchy, but slightly crispy on the exterior with dense mushroom texture on the outside, the taste and texture is similar to mushrooms served for breakfast that are fried in golden oil.
Interestingly, there was a slight potato taste on the mushroom fries.
The service was quite good overall, and they offer you water, the staff were friendly.
For takeaway, they do not charge the 10%
The restaurant was slightly different to what I was expecting, because I thought it was going to be similar to Shake-em Buns, but it turned out to be a pub.
I really liked the gigantic beer glass!!

Went to some gathering, hence the location wasnt selected by me, and I didnt know what place we were going to eat, so I couldnt check on OpenRice for comments.
Arrived there pretty early and there were no waitors at the entrance, so we had to walk into the middle of the restaurant to ask for a table, and the waitress reluctantly gave us a table.
The waitors asked what tea we would like, so asked for the Jasmine, but they gave us Pu Erh. What a great start.
Ordered the set dinner which includes steamed prawns, chicken, soup, sugar snap peas and ostrich meat, fish and dessert.
As we were early and it was the winter solstice, they tried to get two rounds of tables by serving us the food fast.
However, we sat down at 5.55 and all the dishes arrived except for the fish at 6.15, so we finished all the dishes around 6.40.
There was a long gap between then and the last dish.
The amusing thing was that three different waitors came 5 minutes after each other to check if only the fish was to come.
It would have been amusing if I had filmed it, having three waitors ask the same question but no follow up.
What was worse, the tables that came after us got the fish first, while we were bored we started playing with the soy sauce and found a floating thing in it, so used a toothpick and found out it was a tiny insect, the worst thing was that we had already dipped the prawns in that sauce.
We told the waitors and the reaction was " oh yes" let me check it and pretended nothing happened.
After waiting an hour, the fish finally came, slightly undercooked because the fish stuck to the bone.
Food:
All tasted ok, one of the prawns was weird it had some white stuff on the head.
some stuck to the shell and were not fresh.
All the food was a bit under portioned.
THE SET DOES NOT INCLUDE RICE, AND THE MENU STATES THERE IS A 10% SERVICE CHARGE WHICH I EXPECTED, BUT IT DID NOT STATE CHARGES FOR THE PEANUTS N CHILI SAUCE.
AFTER THE MEAL, FOUND OUT THE NAME OF THE RESTAURANT AND SAW THAT THERE WERE ALOT OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS WHICH IS TRUE, HENCE OPENRICE IS A RELIABLE SOURCE!

A fun wintery snack that I got from MOS burger for $39.9.
Usually, they are chocolate covered strawberries, but these are frozen strawberries that are filled with creamy white chocolate.
The whole packaging is very pretty, from the clear crystal shaped box to the crispy clear bag, both imported from Japan, and each strawberry is individually wrapped with a gold twist tie.
When I got box of strawberries, it contained an ice pack to keep the strawberries cold, I asked if they were to be eaten straight away or defrosted, and the guy said they are supposed to be eaten straight away.
Anyway, undid the cute gold twist ties and popped one of the strawberries in my mouth, and my mouth was numbed by the coldness of the strawberry. It was rock hard too@!
Slowly I could taste the strawberry and the sweet creamy filling.
Although it is recommended to eat them straight away, I let them thaw for a while and ate it to compare the taste.
It tasted much better slightly thawed, the texture of the strawberry was slightly slushy with the ice cold filling oozing out, and as it wasn't so frozen you can get a more impactful taste of the strawberry tartness and sweet white chocolate creamy taste.
Interesting variations of MOS products in Taiwan, Singapore and Japan.
