Came here again because the locals love this place.

I had no expectations because the food here is always greasy and salty.

Roasted goose:

This was just skin and bones.
The goose meat was quite nice because there was not much meat which meant that it absorbed all the marinade and was tasty.
Even though there is not much meat on them, they are a good seller though.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Morning glory with dried prawns:
This was very salty and oily and the cracked pot was funny!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Glass noodles:
I thought this was going to taste nice but it was rancid.

Made the mistake of eating Chinese food again.

Anyway this time came here for lunch because the locals only ate Chinese.

Ordered the steamed pork patty with salted fish and the braised beef brisket with e-fu noodles.

steamed pork patty with salted fish
It was so salty. I know Salted fish is meant to be salty but pork itself was oversalted.

braised beef brisket with e-fu noodles
I think I made the wrong choice as well ordering this.
Since e-fu noodles are fried before they are packaged it reeked of oil, and it absorbed the gamey smell of the beef.
The real thing was not as good as the product shot, the sauce was not even visible.

Before the mass advertisements and commercials THE used to be an average place for Chinese food serving Chinese roasts.
To me, they still fare average despite the amount of TVC’s campaigns featuring how you can go there for breakfast, tea, dinner, anytime, any day theme.

Ordered the crunchy roast pork belly in wasabi sauce, which includes soup.

Although the food was not impressive, their customer service was really good, there was a fly in the soup and the waitress apologized and exchanged the soup.
{It was probably the same soup brought back with the fly removed, but at least they said Sorry and offered to exchange it, which is better than other restaurants.}

I did not like the food much, because the rice beneath the meat was fried rice and baked again with the pork on top, it made the rice dry and greasy.
The pork was chewy and not fresh, and there was a strong overnight pork odour to it.

I would have preferred it if it was plain rice and Roast BBQ pork in wasabi as opposed to pork belly.

Although I did not like it, but it would be a good source of calories for those who need it, especially with the combination of fried rice and roast pork belly for the cold winter.

[Review 572] Lamb hot pot @ 太興 Tai Hing

As usual, their lamb hotpots are good, rich beancurd sauce with pieces of water chestnuts, mushrooms, dried beancurd and lamb.
There was also a separate plate of lettuce to put in too.

The lamb was quite tender, but a knife and fork was needed, as chopsticks were useless.

The beancurd sauce that was provided was good also, but slightly too sweet.

[Review 511] Expensive tea set @ Tai Hing 太興

For tea, the average price is around 2x -4x, so for Chinese food, 4x is classified as expensive especially when it is stir-fried noodles, usually a la-carte noodles are around 3x-4x.

Anyway, it tasted ok, the instant noodles had a good mix of vegetable julienne, and strong in black pepper.
The satay ho-fun was quite spicy too, lots of sauce, but the ho-fun was a bit over-smoked with wok fumes.
