Discovered this restaurant after dining at the Japanese grill a few doors away.
Went here after xmas as they have donburis as well as sushi.
I liked the way they serve both so that non carbs people can just order sashimi.
The decor is quite modern.
There is a cool flight of stairs that lead you upstairs but you probably have to be careful coming down if you were slightly tipsy.
All sets come with soup, salad and appetizer.

I chose the Hokkaido don which had all my favourites but you can also opt for the customized dons which allow you to select 18 items.
Everything was fresh but the rice was a bit clumped together and the vinegar was a bit strong.
The sushi was good too so there is something for everyone.
Next time I will come back for something else.

To be honest, I haven't really been to hotels on this stretch so decided to check it out over the Christmas period.As my friends love Japanese red beans and chestnut, I joined them for tea which had these items.
The price is $348 for two and has the following items.
There was a good mix of savoury and sweet, although some items were sweet and savoury at the same time such as the red bean pancakes and smoked salmon.
My favourite was the jelly cup with chestnut and lobster salad on top.

The scallop croquette was visually nice as it was in a layer of purple sweet potato mash coated in breadcrumbs.
For the sweet tooth, I loved the scones which come with thick and creamy clotted cream.

Finished with the sweet items which were light and not too heavy.


The signature drink is another must try if you stop by for drinks.

Sushi man is a famous omakase restaurant from Yuen Long.
It is so famous that it attracted people who did not eat sushi to go.
They are so successful that they now have a branch in Hung Hom for almost a year now!!!
I finally tried it recently and not bad for a first visit.
As with the usual omakases, you start with the sashimi first and then the sushi.Began with the Chawanmushi which was silky steamed egg topped with delicious salmon roe pearls.


The Sashimi section was a wonderful surprise, and my favourites had to be the creamy fish milt  in refreshing yuzu sauce.

My next favourite was the Monkfish liver which is like pate that has a velvety texture.

Another star of the show was abalone which is served with liver sauce.
The liver sauce is made even more rich by mixing butter in it.
When you have eaten the abalone, the Sushi Master will give you some rice to dip the rest of the liver sauce.

The golden crab was an  overload of crabmeat and crabroe!!

The Sushi (8 pieces) not in order was a play of the chefs skills in making each piece taste very different but tasty.

Next was the famous sea urchin donburi and nourishing gelatinous fish soup!!!
As a donburi and carbs lover, it was joy eating rice with creamy uni.

Finished with Fruits which were sprayed with alcohol to bring out the sweetness.

Discovered this drinks joint as I was going to take the escalators to the other side of the road.
Figured out it wasn't a local brand as the receipt was printed in simplified characters.
Got the grapefruit tea as the menu says it is made with fresh fruit and there was a fresh fruit cabinet there which looked promising.
For the sugar levels, ordered the minimum.
Unfortunately, it was too sweet and there was not as much grapefruit in the drink as I hoped.
A huge disappointment because it was expensive and despite ordering the  least sugar levels it was bloody sweet.

I am not really a fan of Taiwanese teas because it just doesn't make sense drinking a drink with bits in it.Chewing and drinking at the same time is rather difficult.
However the idea of pearls in desserts and buns sound good because it gives it a lovely chew to it and pearls in icecream is even better as the cold temperature makes them more chewy.
The buns are filled with custard and pearls!
Normally pearls are black but these are translucent brown which have a lovely caramel taste to it just like the ones at Flamingo Bloom!
It was just delicious together because the custard was not too sweet yet thick and creamy.

The pearls had a nice chew just like the ones at FB without being too soft but the only complaint was that there were not as many pearls as the product shot.
Looking forward to more flavours as they could experiment with different custard flavours eg Earl Grey, Oolong or Whatever.

Before coming here, I was expecting this to be a bakery as the name LE BREAD LAB sounded like it was a specialist in bakery and a laboratory for bread.
When I got here, it turned out to be girly and pink which makes it instaworthy and popular with girls.
They specialize in these cakes which look like thick pancake tacos filled with cream topped with fruit.
There are so many flavours which you have to get in 4s or 16s: Strawberry, Chocolate, Coffee, Banana, Mango and the Hong Kong exclusive which just reminds of local cakes with fruit on it.
My favourite is the original because nothing beats strawberries and cream.
Just the treat for Wimbledon Tennis season!
The coffee was also good as it was not too sweet.
For me the star of the show turned out to be the strawberry latte which is basically strawberry milk.
The strawberries are not blended but chopped up so that strawberries are able to infuse in the milk giving it a natrual flavours.
If you like purple potato, there is a purple potato latte as well.
Sadly not for the lactose intolerant as most of the items are made with milk.
Perhaps they could come up with vegan options using almond/soya milk in drinks.

I have always wanted to try this soup joint but frankly the location is in the middle of no where and the fact that it has been here for quite a while means it should be quite good.
As a soup lover, I got the Overlord flower with pork ribs Chinese soup [quoted from the menu].
It was quite tasty and piping hot loaded with pork bones and those herbs.
The noodles were too oily though and found something in it so exchanged it for another dish.
It wasn't bad but just oily so despite having a healthy soup, the food isnt that healthy.
The vegetables were killed by the garlic which was too strong.

I have been meaning to try Reserva Ibérica for a long time.
They have a small joint in Poho which is a bit of a trek, then there is Wanchai but unfortunately there is too much construction work nearby so I didn't quite make it.

Recently discovered this joint after dining at Happy Pancakes nearby and a glowing review from falsesilver.

As it was near Xmas, they had Christmas lunch on the menu but I decided to go for the hams.
It wasn't as quiet as I hoped as there was a noisy bunch there but the food was good.
Started with the platter which had all the Deluxe Iberico Jamon Platter with Pa Amb Tomaquet.

You simply just had to eat them from left to right because the Serrano Ham is soft with a lovely saltiness and moving to the right you get strong flavours of the Iberico Ham which are all acorn fed.
Last but not least is the Spicy Chorizo which is smoky with a little spiciness to finish.
On the side was Pa Amb Tomaquet (tomato toast) which was scrumptious because the slices were crisp with a soft springy centre.
Finished with the ox cheek ragu Fettucine which was made with fresh pasta covered in braised ox cheek meat .

For drinks, tried the melon coconut juice smoothie which was an interesting combination.

Now I am tempted to come back for breakfast as they have croissants with their finest hams so that should be delish as well.
