Went to KFC again because they had chicken nuggets.

As well as chicken nuggets, they had crisps and these Portuguese tarts filled with mochi and red beans.

For mains, had my usual favourite which was rice with luncheon meat, fried chicken and mushroom gravy.


Unfortunately, the rice was rather mushy this time, a cross between congee and soggy rice while the luncheon meat was dry on one side.

Next were the chicken nuggets which come with wasabi salad sauce.
The chicken nuggets tasted really familiar like those frozen microwavable ones.
I would much prefer BBQ sauce to go with the nuggets but then this is Hong Kong where they prefer wasabi.
Ended up getting the crisps as well as it was reasonably priced at HKD10 for 2.
They were quite spicy with a sweet aftertaste and reminded me of the Indian Lay's Masala Magic with the spiciness reduced.

Not a popular spot so this restaurant is nice and quiet during festivals but probably worse off now!
Anyway, the lobster efu noodles were very salty while the fish was steamed for too long so it was dry.
At the end of the banquet, you get given fruit and red bean dessert.

I love fish so went here for the fish!

They specialize in skewers, chicken pots, HK style tea and fish according to the Chinese on the signage.


Had the Sichuan fish.
The basic fish is 1xx but we had the leopard coral trout because I love this fish!

It was covered in coriander and purple onions submerged in Sichuan broth.

The fish needed some time to cook.
When it was ready, the fish was delicate and spicy which went well with rice.

Also tried the skewers and it was good the sauce was served separate.

The wings were my favourite.
Will be back as if I am in the area.

Went here for the green algae noodles but ordering was super confusing.
The lady kept saying this and that wasn't available and this and that wouldn't match the broth.
But I suppose she was right because the one she made for me ended up tasting so damn good.
The quality of the fish was really fresh and even though it was spicy you could still taste the fish.

The algae noodles were not as elastic as anticipated because I was worried the texture would be like konjac.
Also had the soup which was clear and oil free.
While sitting there, I was fascinated by the huge bag of noodles.
Will definitely be back!

While all the other shops were always open, this one closes real early.Anyway, it is not the first time I have had these rice rolls so I was just trying this one to compare with the one at Kai Ching market and Kwun Tong.
Ordered the plain one to see how the texture was.
I am so glad I did not order two or even order the rolls with other stuff.

The texture was just sticky and stodgy.
It was not even elastic  and the texture was just like steamed rice flour mixture which is technically what it is but normally it is meant to be extremely thin  and then scraped together to form the roll.
I reckon the person who usually does it was off that day.

There are two joints that serve chicken and rice and this joint has a Sichuan twist to it.
Sadly, the other joint ran out of yellow rice so I can't compare it to this joint but the chicken here was definitely better because it was super soft and tender.
The rice wasn't memorable because I couldn't really taste the turmeric.
But the good thing is that they have so many condiments and sauces at the bar for you to use.
I found it really amusing, they have a curtain installed in the kitchen premises which I thought was used for changing but the chef was in there for a quite a while so he really didn't want people to see his secret recipe.

There are quite a few branches of this.
Previously went to the joint at Lam Tin as it was more accessible but sadly they didn't have it.
In a way, it was good they didn't have since it made me venture into WongTaiSin as there are loads of delish eateries here with small dine in areas.
You will find curry sauce and other condiments at the counter which I didn't really use except for the chili and soy sauce.

Overall, I loved the black shaomais more than the fish because you can really taste the squid.
They taste a bit like the octopus shaomais that you could buy at the supermarket a few years ago but better as they are freshly made and you will find chunks of squid in it too.

Hopefully Prince Shaomai will be popping up at more places with more flavours as I missed the Sichuan flavour.
