Back for desserts

On the last visit, the Earl Grey slush was sold out so ordered it on this visit.

Also had two coconut puddings, one with durian and one with birds nest and peach tree gum.
 0 讚好

The birds nest was surprisingly generous.
 0 讚好

Both coconut puddings have a coconut jelly base made of young coconut.
The sweetness is just right.

The Earl Grey slush was a great cooling dessert on a hot day but it was a little too sweet for my liking but the Earl Grey is super strong and fragrant.

It is served on a golden teapot with smoke coming out of the teapot sprout.

[Review 4583] Green tea and sprite more like! @ 滿記甜品 Honeymoon Dessert

Tried the Green tea lime soda.
Wasn't impressed because it was just sprite/7up mixed with green tea that cost $30 and it just tasted of sprite.

It would have tasted much better if it was freshly squeezed lime with soda water and not sprite!~

[Review 4336] Ruined by the presentation @ 松記糖水店 Chung Kee Dessert

Went here randomly because there was no queue.
There were quite a few interesting desserts such as green tea jelly noodles.

Mint chocolate oreo which was sold out (typical).

Anyway, went for the glutinous rice roll.
When it arrived, they ruined the presentation by pouring the sauce on top, otherwise you would have seen the rice roll and sweet potato filling as shown below.
There was too much ice which was annoying.

Overall the glutinous rice tasted nice because it wasn't too sweet and the cream went nicely with it but the sweet potato filling in the middle was too sweet.
Luckily the dessert wasn't too expensive.

[Review 3659] A sweet place for me @ 甜心屋 Sweet Heart

This dessert joint is diagonally opposite the Garden Bakery headquarters.
When I saw it from the distance, I was already impressed by their logo because the heart was horizontal with the letter S in the middle.
Inside it was modern and cute with my favourite black and white chequered tiles.
This was definitely the dessert shop for me because their desserts are modern and cute.

I didn't order the desserts below but the panna cotta was impressive because the chocolate and raspberry looked pretty and colourful.
I wished I ordered the dessert below because it had coconut water jelly which is my favourite.
(An excuse to come here again).

I went for the raspberry mousse tart because it looked girly, it was similar to a short crust egg tart but filled with dreamy raspberry mousse.
The crust was a bit dense and too buttery and the raspberry mousse could have been lighter and more refreshing.

For coconut and mango lovers this is just the dessert shop!
The dessert chef absolutely adores mango which is why almost every item has mango
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coconut pudding with caramel pudding:
I was really looking forward to this because the last time I had a similar dessert was at Dessert Revolution where they used a Young coconut instead and inside it also had coconut jelly made from coconut water.

I really liked this dessert because the coconut jelly had a stronger taste compared to young coconut and the caramel pudding on top enhanced it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mango, pomelo sweet soup:

Mango lovers will love this and there were also liquid filled pearls too which give it a burst of flavour here and there.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Longan, vanilla icecream and sago dessert:
I really liked this dessert and it was refreshing, the sweetness was just right and I loved the kanten jelly pieces in it too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Almond pudding:

Visually I loved this dessert, pure white almond pudding against the lovely red strawberry slices.
The almond pudding was really silky with strong almond taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Champagne jelly:
The jelly was made with a good proportion of champagne because you can actually taste the alcohol in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Just want to Thank Mjqueen7e, 甜入心 and Lxgxxn for inviting me to the tasting.

[Review 2122] Sweet desserts now available @ Hoi Kee in Jordan 海記合桃甜品 Hoi Kee Walnut Place

I was really happy to see a new branch of Hoi Kee in Jordan.
Chungs dessert and Chung kee used to be my favourite but now Hoi Kee's is my favourite!

There are other branches in Mong Kok and To Kwa Wan, but TKW is too far and the one at Mk is not that good.
While I was outside looking at the banner, this weirdo shouted at the menu and said it was not nice, but I still went in anyway.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
White dessert:

This is my favourite dessert at Hoi Kee but they used to only available at certain times of the day but now it is available all day but the price is slightly higher.
It has my favourite sago, mini rice dumplings, aloe vera and cream.
The sweetness was just right with strong vanilla flavouring.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crushed cherry ice:

I was disappointed with this because the crushed cherry ice was solid and frozen.
The taste of cherry was not cloyingly sweet was it was syrupy, however the taste was not artificial which was good.
It came with strawberry icecream on top and canned peaches.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio flavoured snowflake ice:

This is my second time having this dessert and it still tastes great because the pistachio flavouring is natrual.
However I did not like the orange coloured gelatin balls. They tasted really artificial.

[Review 1957] More dreamy desserts @ Hoi Kee Walnut Place 海記合桃坊甜品

The desserts here are so delicious that I had to come back to this particular branch for the other stuff.
I wish the Mong Kok branch would taste as good as this because the To Kwa Wan location is a bit inconvenient.

I came back especially for the vanilla dessert which is not served after 7pm on weekdays, so I had the desserts first and then had dinner afterwards.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Iced white jade HKD16:

Another amazing dessert which was worth coming all the way for it.
It had sago, aloe vera, and glutinous rice balls in milky vanilla sauce. The sweetness was really gentle and moreish.
The whipped cream on top made it even more dreamier.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding with peach and pearls HKD15:

I was surprised the tofu pudding had a strong creamy tofu taste yet its texture was like panna cotta.
The coloured pearls were not as pretty as the product shot and they were a tad too sweet.
The peach slices were canned peaches and were slightly sweetened.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
grounded pistachio dessert $24:
Last time I had delicious desserts at the To Kwa Wan branch so I decided to get the pistachio dessert again at the Mong Kok branch, however the dessert here was lumpy and it was too sweet and lacked that delicious pistachio taste that it did in the To Kwa Wan.

As for the presentation it looked nothing as good as the TKW branch and there was dessert overflowing on the side of the bowl.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The dessert at the Mong Kok branch did not fare as good as the To Kwa Wan branch.
The interior was not as good as the To Kwa Wan branch, although the lights were the same.
The menu was also not as extensive as the TKW branch too.

After eating at the nearby Legend Restaurant, I noticed this shop because of the colourful banners where I spotted this bowl of green dessert that I thought was Green Tea dessert.
However on a closer look it turned out to be Grounded Pistachio dessert which Menty told me about a few days ago, then when I looked at the name of this dessert shop, it was indeed Hoi Kee.
I have walked past the Mong Kok branch numerous times but I never went in because the MK branch was just grey and boring.
The menu at that time only had Chinese desserts then, perhaps it may have changed now but looking at the MK reviews I cant see any of the new desserts.
Anyway went in with the Grounded Pistachio dessert in mind, but when I looked at the menu there were so many other items I wanted to try as well, so there shall be more visits.
The desserts at this place was not just traditional Chinese sweet soups but they had other desserts with colourful product shots which were really tempting to try such as:

Purple rice and mochi

+++++++++++++++++++++
Peach and tofu pudding

+++++++++++++++++++++
Berry merry

+++++++++++++++++++++

Not only was the menu colourful the decor of this shop was modern.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grounded Pistachio dessert

I do not usually go for these grounded Chinese desserts but because it was pistachio I tried it.
There was a choice of hot or cold and I really regret not ordering it cold because when it is hot I keep burning my tongue and cannot taste it properly.
When it did finally cool down, I found it delicious because it tasted really nutty and you can taste the savouryness of the pistachio.
The pistachio had been grounded really fine and it was not lumpy.
The pistachio pieces on top gave it some depth.
After stirring it vigorously to cool the consistency did not change, it still remained thick hence its high heat capacity.
Although it was delicious I would have preferred it in pudding form because I am still not quite used to Chinese desserts which are in liquid/paste form which involves "drinking" it.
For the take away version the pistachio is in a separate bag for you to add separately.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grounded Chestnut dessert:

Again I do not usually try these desserts but tried it as it was Chestnut, I did not expect it to taste nice because chestnuts are starchy and it did not taste as good as the chestnut paste in the Chestnut croissant at Le Salon.
I still feel that chestnut tastes better with roast dinners or French style.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Berries and yogurt with aiyu jelly

This was a cup of aiyu jelly at the bottom with natural yogurt on top with strawberries and blueberries.
I really appreciated that they used natrual yogurt which was sour and because the jelly at the bottom was sweet, the taste balanced out.
It tasted like greek yoghurt but the texture of the yogurt was not that thick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio snowflake ice

The snowflake ice tasted as good as the grounded pistachio dessert, there was strong pistachio flavouring in the snowflake ice, the texture of the snowflake ice was slightly sticky and viscous.
Initially it reminded me of sushi because the green colour and shape of the snowflake ice resembled wasabi, and the orange balls looked like salmon roe.

I thought the orange balls would be filled with liquid but they were solid cute balls of jelly.
The texture of those orange balls were like kanten, hard firm jelly and there was a faint taste of mango which was quite artificial, but eating the glutinous rice balls together with the snowflake ice and those orange balls were delicious and the whole dessert was not too sweet.
