[Review 7317] Dill is the secret @ Soho Bánh Mì

Went here a while ago for Bánh Mì obviously.
There were quite a few to choose from, they had fish, the Signature and vegetarian.
I would have chosen the vegetarian if I saw it on the menu.
Anyway, the fish I had was good as there was lots of dill in it even though the menu doesn't say , the chili jam was extremely spicy.
The Coffee was good but I needed a lot of condensed milk to balance the bitterness because I am not used to drinking coffee but love trying out Vietnamese style coffees.
The buncha which I didn't have any expectations was pretty good especially the noodles which were soft and thin, not the commercial crap you get elsewhere.
Again I liked it as there were lots of dill in the soup.

[Review 7311] Sunday roast @ The Phoenix Bar & Kitchen

The Phoenix located at the mid levels is evidently successful as they have been here since 2000.It is always busy when I go past it but this Sunday I seized the opportunity for dinner as it wasn't that busy.
There were so many good options to choose from like dishes launched for St Patrick's Day and they even had bubble and squeak.

Sunday Roast is almost disappearing from the Hong Kong scene so I ordered that.
Delaney's in Wanchai used to serve it but they have closed down a few years ago.
It was roast pork loin that day with cider gravy.
The pork was a bit dry but the other stuff made up for it especially the cauliflower cheese which was so comforting.
It tasted like the stuff we got at school in this creamy cheesy sauce that complimented the dry pork loin nicely.
The pork crackling was way too hard.
For drinks, had tea and the zero alcohol lager by Carlsberg.
Not that I'm complaining but the Sunday Roast was only HKD158 on the bill so maybe it was a late night discount??

I have always wanted to visit this cafe where quite a lot of films are filmed. The cafe is right beside a tram track with trams that commute from the peak to and from Admiralty
The menu was a bit boring as it was just the usual Chinese Chaan Teng and Chinese style Western stuff.
Just got the pineapple tea as this was the only interesting tea there.
It was red tea so it has that slight bitterness to it but luckily it was quite nice with pineapple and not too sweet.
The tea was not too syrupy which was great as a thirst quenching drink.

Lovely joint on Caine Road

A few weeks ago my friend said this Food Hall opened on Caine Road so I went to look for it.Went to Caine Road and couldn't find it but it turns out that my friend read the word Food Hall beneath Bon Licious.
Anyway, finally found it and went there for lunch.
Ordered the salad with mac n cheese.
Totally regretted not getting the steak because it looked good after someone posted it.

The mac n cheese was surprisingly good but the potato and sweetcorn salad was a bit disappointing because the potatoes were hard.
You could tell hard they were because they were giving me such a hard time trying to jab the fork into the potatoes.
For desserts, I had this damn delicious overnight oats strawberry cheesecake which was loaded with healthy oats.
At the bottom of the jar you could see more oats that you mix in when you eat.
Finished with Comptoir Jasmine Tea which was a great finish!
Anyway, terribly regretted not getting the steak.
Service was super friendly and there is a really cute guy there who is really nice.

Arrived at EG and initially sat outside because it was packed inside.
Luckily the staff found us a seat inside because it was friggin hot outside and the staff there were really nice.
Anyway, I got the fish katsu sandwich which was really delicious but as I was clumsy the bits of cabbage kept falling out.
It was smothered with my favourite kewpie mayo and there were lots of cabbage in it.
For drinks, I got the strawberry iced tea which was such a good drink because they used  strawberry puree which tastes so much better than syrup.

Great fish fingers bap

I've been here three times now and it seems that I should stay clear of the cakes and carefully choose what to eat.
The grilled cheese toast and fish finger bap were brilliant while some of the cakes were too sweet.

On this visit, I had the fish fingers bap which was damn good.

It was, a proper dusted soft bap filled with crisp fish fingers and real Mayonnaise.

For drinks, had the avocado smoothie which was not too sweet and it was good that they used ripe avocados because you can really taste the difference.

Afternoon tea set

Nice environment but the tea set was average.
The sandwiches were obviously made for a while because the bread was dry and dehydrated.
The scones and muffins smelt strange and there was no basic cream or even clotted cream with the scones.

Paua fritters are a traditional New Zealand dish made of minced black abalone (paua) coated in batter and fried.
Tried it because I was curious.
I couldn't quite find any minced abalone in the patty but it did have a fishy seaweed taste.
Not quite what I was expecting but at least I have tried it without travelling to NZ.

I guess I was just curious so dined here because this joint has been on Caine Road for quite a while in the posh territory.
It didn't look welcoming from the outside and you couldn't peep inside so perhaps this is a restaurant for celebrities who are avoiding the paparazzi.
Had the salmon with spring onion rice and it was literally chopped salmon with spring onions.
Unfortunately, it didn't taste nice because the whole thing was just sweetness.

Great [FUSH] and Chips three years running

This is probably my fifth time here since they opened in 2014.

Suddenly felt like fish and chips so came here because the fish batter is light and crisp.

The place is bigger and better and they even sell paua fritters for $40 which is black abalone!!!

The fish and chips were consistently good but seeing photos of the chips in different shades of colour, I requested my chips blonde.
I think I will ask for platinum blonde next time because I don't like chips too crispy.

The fish was good as expected and I had HOKI which was the cheapest and it has a texture like COD which is firm and flaky.

Anyway, I'll be back for the PAUA FRITTER!

This joint is from NZ and they pronounce FISH as FUSH whereas we Brits pronouce it as FISH.
