For years, I was fed food from here which I didn't even know.
At that time, I didn't really explore Chinese BBQ meat so didn't realize I was having such delicious food as I took it for granted.
Every location and time we had these faan hups, the food was hot and the meat tasted fresh.
Often, the faanhups would be waiting for a while before we ate them but the rice and meat would still be hot and there wasn't any polystyrene odour in the food.
I only made an effort to find the source when I was leaving that company and found out that it was in some village in Wong Tai Sin, not that near the MTR which was why I didn't go earlier.
After exploring roast meats in Hong Kong, the quality and taste was just not as good as this place and I just couldn't understand how the roast faan hups here won the other restaurants.
After googling this shop, I found an article which confirmed that this was the shop I was looking for because he also got the source from a PA at TVB.
Quoted from Weirdjun at Blogspot
"TVB 無論在天涯海角拍戲都要番黎鳳凰村 買飯盒"
Hence true as the crew are always working at different TV Stations.
Basically, the roast pork was damn good because it isn't too sweet or salty with a nice crispy edge.
The scallion oil is also amazing so is the salted egg.
Anyway, it was comforting that I found it, however dining in a restaurant with strangers is so different to eating out at different locations be it inside/outside from a polystyrene box with a bunch of celebs and crew.
I haven't dined at the TVB Canteen, but this hidden one at Clear Water Bay studios where the cops go for meals is damn good but not sure if it is still around.
The salted meat patty and the pan fried chicken is also recommended but I wonder if it is still around.
The service here is cocky but they deserve to be cocky!
