Chinese dessert deconstructed and reimagined

Deconstructed Food is not new , it is breaking apart elements that are traditionally combined together to make a dish and serving the items in a uniquely separate way.
Traditional Chinese dessert is served in a bowl which takes a runny liquid form either hot or cold.
To be honest, I am not a fan of Chinese dessert because it is nothing quite like Western desserts where it takes the form of a cake or pudding.
The idea of putting liquid dessert in my mouth is rather strange because I would rather have it as a drink or thick milkshake.

At Eat Darling Eat, they have totally revolutionized Chinese dessert by deconstructing it and serving it a totally different way.

I do love dessert but I need to satisfy my hunger first so had the tofu puffs which are stuffed with cheese.
It wasn't a wild paring as tofu and cheese are often paired together but I think brie or feta would taste more wild than the cream cheese they used.
The taste was still good but it wasn't that cheesy which is safer for the general palette I guess.

For mains had the Squid & Salted Fish Darling-made Lemon Pasta.

The pasta just looked like ordinary fettuccine but it was surprisingly flavourful infused with the taste of squid.
It is quite tricky getting the flavour out of squid which meant it was fresh and the texture of the squid was just right as it was soft and gives in when you bite into it.
So overall, very tasty with squid and lemon.

Now to the Pineapple Bun which was the star of the show.
It certainly hit the spot for me as they replaced the boring bun with a choux which is much airy and lighter.
I liked it because choux beats that Chinese bun any day and I can't stand that weird butter crumb on top and even strange with a piece of butter/margarine in it.
The pineapple sorbet was sweet and beneath that there is some custard which tasted like yoghurt.
Adding the pineapple pieces on the side made it more refreshing.

For the other desserts tried the tongshui which is normally served in liquid form in a bowl that you drink with a spoon.
Again, in the West, desserts come in the form of cake or pudding and the only liquid thing would probably be custard.
Had the Lava Cake and Sweet Potato which are normally served in a bowl but it was served on plate.
The Lava Cake was the usual fondant but filled with Walnut paste that is normally served in liquid form.
The sweet potato cake was served with a jug of liquid which represents the Chinese sweet soup.
Overall I liked them both as they were presented in a Western form especially the sweet potato as there was a piece of cake in it.
Finished with the chestnut latte which was served in a cute bamboo cup.
