I was checking out the rude dessert shop next door and discovered this joint on the way. They basically sell fruits as well as juices.
Decided to get the fruit combo for $30 which was melon and orange.
I don't know why but it took quite a while to come so perhaps the fruit was freshly cut to order.
Anyway, the taste was ok but not much melon taste because the orange was too prominent.

Peach Tree Gum!!

There are so many drinks joints this year and Thailax stood out because they serve Thai drinks and they even have branches in Macau!

As well as Thai drinks, they have the latest trend such as brown sugar and other popular ingredients such as Taro.
There was so much choice on the menu but in the end I decided to get the featured brown sugar milk with peach tree gum.

Peach tree gum is good for collagen and I like it because the texture is just like jelly.
The brown sugar they use is also a good one as it is very comforting with no strange aftertaste so it was all good.

Not your usual hot chocolate

Spotted this joint a while ago but it was too hot to try in the summer.

I was in the area so finally tried the hot chocolate.
The hot chocolate is very different to the chocolate drinks available which are made with cocoa powder or chocolate syrup.

The drinks here are made from the cacao bean which has a stronger and fruity taste if you can imagine coffee straight from the beans.

The smell is very different so be warned.
Basically it was like drinking a chocolate version of coffee and it is quite bitter and fruity at the same time.
After drinking it, my pulse went so the caffeine in it must be strong.
Will be back to try the cold chocolate as the milk content in that is different and the staff here are really friendly.

Hearty soup

After trying the SKW branch, I have been meaning to come back for the soup which I spotted on the menu. The rice rolls were good so had them again and the roast pork rice rolls.
The texture was a little different and softer at this branch.
For congees, had the pork blood and oyster.
Both were consistency thick and creamy.
To go with the congee, had the chilled preserved eggs.
Another star of the show is the fried noodles.
At this branch, the noodles still had that firm texture but the wok taste was stronger.
I was surprised they had the goij berry, liver and leaf soup as not many places serve it and people normally make it at home.
The goji leaves were tender but the liver didn't quite come through in the soup flavour so it was comforting.

Will be back again but there are two branches in MK and quite close to each other!!

Tragic

I love the food here, this time got the fried noodles as they have stopped doing congee!!!
It's so tragic, many of my favourite places have discontinued congee and this place too.
The fried noodles are tasty without any sauce and it is good they don't put beanshoots in it.
They had glutinous rice with preserved sausages but the rice was too soft and the sausages were too fatty.

[Review 7057 Fantastic dinner and Vegetarian too @ 活蘭印度素食 Woodlands Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

Woodlands has been around in Hong Kong since 1981, longer since I have been here.
I heard of it when I asked for curry recommendations but I didn't really know my way round those days.
In a way, I am glad I didn't try it earlier even though I have had countless of Indian meals because my knowledge of Indian food is better now.
There has been a big change to Woodlands too, they have redesigned the restaurant and menu so diners get a fine experience.

There was so much to choose from especially my favourite rices, they had tomato, coconut, yoghurt and even lemon rice.
It was hard choosing a rice as lemon rice and yoghurt rice (curd rice) are my favourites.
They even have JAIN curries to cater for people on a Jain Diet.

The staff spoke good English so this place is expat friendly and they even have zero alcohol beer and zero alcohol wine per glass/bottle which can be ordered or you can buy them at Maharaja Mart.
It is pretty amazing, you can get Zero alcohol Rose, Red and Whites!!

Ended up ordering drinks as the selections were worth trying.
They had pineapple lassi and my favourite Jal Jeera with soda.
Pineapple lassi is a great option for people who do not like mango.

Jal Jeera is just something I like because of the sourness and punchiness!

For food, started on the Onion Rava Dosa which stayed crispy all the way through the meal and they serve it without oil which makes it healthy.
The texture is similar to crispy French galettes and they taste tasty with or without the sambar.

Next were the mains, the vegetable fried noodles were sooooooooooooooo delicious.
They were soft and flavoured with lots of spices.
Luckily they asked how spicy I wanted the noodles because I often forget they are spicy and end up not finishing it because it is too spicy.

The lemon rice and the spinach mushroom curry were great together.
Again the lemon rice is good on its own and I appreciate they used button mushrooms in the curry and not Asian Shitaake mushrooms.

Will definitely be back again and it is now easier getting here as it is right near an MTR exit unlike the old days!

I have always wanted to try this place as it is well known in the French community and headed by Chef Stéphane from Brittany where he serves down to earth French food with a modern twist.

For Christmas, he has designed a Christmas dinner menu available from now until Sunday 23 December during dinner.
As with the regular menu, there is a wine sommelier to suggest some good wine pairings.
Here is the menu and for the price and portion I found it more than satisfactory.

Appetizer:
3 Oysters with yuzu granita
The oysters served on ice were refreshing and the yuzu granita had a nice citrus tartness which made these oysters extremely moreish.
They were paired with a sharp wine which was definitely a good pairing to begin as it makes you ready for the next courses.

Starter
Crab Ravioli, mushroom, herring roe, scampi sauce.
I love ravioli and they are more tasty than they look visually and from the description.
The scampi sauce had a little bit of heat in it and the raviolis were loaded with crabmeat and other goodies because you can taste something citrusy going on as well as some Kaffir leaves.
The herring roe made it look glamorous while giving a hint of saltiness.

Main
Chicken Breast with foie gras, rice topped with Comté cheese and truffle sauce.
The main course was quite heavy but I loved the way you are served chicken in two ways, the bigger piece is white meat and the thing that looks like a big Brussel Sprout is actually diced chicken with some black pepper wrapped in cabbage leaf!
The rice beneath it was topped with evilicious melted Comté cheese and a rich creamy piece of foie gras.
I found it really comforting because it tasted like something I had when I was a kid served at my friends house.
To be honest, I was rather full after this but as a cheese lover I had to try the next cheese course.

Cheese
Brillat-Savarin cheese with truffle (+$80)
The portion of cheese was very satisfying but unfortunately I couldn't finish it all.
It tasted thick and creamy infused with truffle.
A must try as it is made with triple cream.
I really regretted not asking if I could take the rest home as I just couldn't finish it.

Dessert
Mandarin Tart, chestnut, meringue
Although I was full, I had to finish the dessert.
It was juicy mandarin slices topped with smooth and velvety chestnut puree complimented by the meringue pieces on the side.
The whole thing was just wonderful as everything was in harmony and the meringue pieces were crisp with a slight soft chew in the middle.

I love coming here for Brazilian grill and it was my second time here.
There is so much choice from the salad and appetizer bar but I didn't eat much from there as they will continuously bring you freshly grilled meats.
The chicken wings and ribs were the best.
Don't eat too much as there is also juicy grilled pineapple dusted with cinnamon.
FW is a great place to go for Christmas and New Year.
There is a countdown here for New Year 2019 with local Macaunese singers!!

You can't miss this drinks joint as the logo and illustrations really make a statement.
I am not sure what the artist is trying to express but it looks like the character has a straw shoved up is nose!!!
Anyway, their cupcakes appealed to me so decided to go there and try it but they have been quite busy since it opened.
HKers just love checking new things out because they worry they miss out.The menu is in English and Chinese.
Got the softie floatie because it was sea salt softie which turned out baby blue and instaworthy.

The orange soda fared better because it was refreshing with a cake stabbed on the straw.
I liked it simply because I wanted to eat a cake.

As well as fancy drinks, I decided to get a simple tea to see how they fare.
Strangely they had oolong and iron buddha together so I tried that.
To be honest, I liked the plain tea which I had hot without sugar as plain tea simply beats everything.
