Yakisoba Style noodles

I love noodles so got these Yakisoba style noodles which need to be reheated.
I didn't find much pork in it but then I wasn't bothered because I don't really eat the meat anyway.
The noodles turned out quite nice because they were not too salty and they don't have that oily taste like Hongkie style noodles.
The texture of the noodles were similar to pasta with a little bit of springiness to it.
Overall, quite nice.

Difficult name to remember

I was just looking for a drink and ended up getting a buckwheat tea from here.
As well as buckwheat, there are other drinks to choose from.
It was a memorable buckwheat tea as there were other ingredients as well as buckwheat.

You can see pieces of carrot in it and well as buckwheat and green tea leaves.

The tea was quite nice as the buckwheat was quite prominent.
I will probably visit again knowing it as the buckwheat place as the Chinese and English name is difficult to remember as you can't really see it on the logo.

Felt like protein so got the braised chicken leg in abalone sauce.
There is quite a lot of sauce in the pouch and the shop can help you heat it up.
Had it heated up so it was ready to eat when I got home.
The chicken was soft and silky but very very sweet.
There is so much sauce in there that it is good for dipping bread or you could marinate a few wings with it.

Shunde scrambled milk

Fung Shing is famous for scrambled milk and many other Shunde dishes.
I went to this one because it seemed the oldest out of the bunch located in Whampoa near exit D2.

Here are the Shunde classics that we had:The scrambled milk is a signature of Shunde cuisine which is delicate and smooth.

Next was the crispy chicken which is always tasty.
I loved the chicken wings and chicken drumstick as the chicken was flavourful and tender.

The Chinese soup was good as it had a lot of mushrooms in it.

Prawn toast is another signature.

To finish off, there was fried rice and vegetables.

I was actually looking forward to dessert as the baked sago pudding is always the best but this time is was sweeter than the one we had at Kowloon Bay.

The other dessert fared better as it wasn't so sweet topped with lots of desiccated coconut and peanuts.

Cheese Melon Tea

I love Cheese melon tea but quality varies at different branches as the ratio of tea to cheese cap is different.
Since I have had bad experiences with the cheese cap at HT, I shall go without next time.
It seems there is a bigger proportion of the cheese cap lately so they can give you less tea and it really doesn't taste good.

Just for the Stinky Omelette

One of favourite Thai ingredient is the Cha-om, which is known as the stinky vegetable. It is often cooked with egg and served as an omelette but not many Thai restaurants have it so when I found out that this place had it I decided to make a visit.
As well as this joint, the other places I have had it are in SSP, CWB and WC at different restaurants.

Thai Mui is located on the corner of some mall in Whampoa.

The menus are about the size of an A3 sheet of paper.

Ordered the stinky omelette, chicken feet salad and GRILLED GOLDFISH (that's what it said on the menu).
The stinky vegetable omelette was loaded with cha-om vegetables and it was not too salty which made it healthy.
The chicken feet salad was rather spicy and salty but it seemed the spiciness levels were quite hot that night as the table next to us said their food was very spicy when they asked for the least spiciest level.

Finished with the grilled fish which was stuffed with herbs like lemon grass etc.

The fish skin peeled off nicely the fish itself was soft and supple.
I didn't really need the sauce as the fish was tasty enough.
Last but not least was the guava slush which was pink and aromatic with a mild sweetness.

Kanada-Ya is all over the world and there are three branches in London.
This is my second time at Kanada-Ya .
Went to the branch at Whampoa where it is quite a small joint with a bar by the ramen kitchen.
Obviously the drinks are slightly different internationally.
In UK, they have exclusive corn fed chicken whereas Tonkatsu is the main theme here.
There are quite a few main ramen broth bases to choose from.
For starters had the gyozas and kaarage with mayonnaise.
For noodles had the Spicy Yuzu ramen and the MIX.
The spicy yuzu was spicier than expected with the heat coming from the peppercorns which taste like Sichuan Peppercorns.
The yuzu was present but it wasn't as citrusy as anticipated in the sense that it wasn't tart but at least it wasn't artificial with a strong yuzu peel essense.
The MIX was a mix of pork and chicken broth so it was rich and flavourful with a creaminess.
The pork slices for both ramens were soft and tender and my favourite thin ramen is used here.

Warming pot of noodles
2019-02-01  28 瀏覽
Discovered this joint after eating at Sushi Man nearby.
They specialize in fish maw noodles and soups.

I went during lunch because they serve lunch sets.

For drinks had the roselle tea and Chrysanthanem tea.
The roselle was refreshing.

For the noodles, had beef and chicken were they both have fish maw in it.

On appearance the beef looked better but then the chicken was tastier because it was tender and marinated.
The noodles were flat and al dente but didn't really absorb the broth.
Although the noodles didn't hang the soup well, the soup was msg free and it was loaded with dried longan berries and red dates which made it nourishing.
Will definitely be back on a cold day for these noodles.
