Went here during the summer so I don't know if they are still that good.
I have been meaning to try this place but it is located between HKU and Sai Ying Pun.
Anyway, went here one Sunday as I was craving for some noodles.
All the noodles were around $25 per bowl and the portions are small which meant I could try others.
Started with the Classic boat noodle which did not disappoint as the broth was strong.
Next was the Tomyumkung noodles which had a refreshing flavour as well as a spicy kick.
The Hainan Chicken was ok but not as good as the noodles.
The curry noodles was too spicy for my liking.
Despite trying four items, I will still be coming back because there are some soups I want to try!!

Fine food with Korean touch
2018-10-02  140 瀏覽
Previous tried the seasonal truffle menu which was really good so went back for the other dishes because these are the signature dishes at this restaurant.
The restaurant is designed by Mr Adrian Cheng, Founder of K11 Art Foundation, and every object inside COBO HOUSE is collected and sourced by him from around the world.
Many items on the menu have a Korean touch to it which enhances the taste even more.

Here were all the delicious items that I liked.

Bulgogi, Seaweed Arancini Rice Rolls $188
These rice rolls were filling coated with crispy coating complimented by the fresh salad leaves.
Beauty and Beef Oven-baked Flatbread,
Bulgogi Korean Beef (Beef Tenderloin 1++), Argula, Homemade Cheese, Tomato
I definitely liked this because they used quality beef which was chunky and moist and the occasional seaweed in between gave it a nice unami flavour.

Finished with the dessert:
The  Sweet and Salty was creamy corn softserve covered in popcorn with grated pink Himalayan Salt on top.
Simply a match made in heaven.

Will come back soon for more desserts or dine at the coffee shop next door.

Shek Tong Tsui is now a hip place with the MTR and Instagram Pier nearby.
I was here again to visit COCO House which is located right outside B2 exit.
COBO means Community of Bohemians.

Here are the dishes that I had in the Truffle set menu:

Hokkaido Scallops with Rainbow Tomato Salad and Summer Truffles
[Rainbow Tomato salad, beets, mango, green plum vinaigrette, summer truffle]
It was impressive how they presented this dish from the placement of the cherry tomatoes to the layering especially the way they managed to put different colours on each tomato stack.
The pan-roasted Hokkaido scallops are sashimi-grade hence the silky texture and it was refreshingly complimented by the black vinegar.

Truffle Scrambled Eggs with Wild Mushrooms and Parma Ham:
[Wild mushroom, baby spinach, crispy parma ham, truffle toast, summer truffle]
The second starter was a bit more filling as it was scrambled egg, there was a good layering which can be seen on the side of the glass.
At the bottom was fried wild mushrooms and black truffles, in the middle is Italian baby spinach, at the top is truffle scrambled eggs surrounded with Italian Parma ham crisps.
It was all in harmony as scrambled eggs, truffle and crispy parma ham can never go wrong.

For the mains, there is a choice of Cod or Beef.

Cod Fish with Braised Fennel
[Braised fennel, asparagus truffle pasta, lobster emulsion, summer truffle]
This was a lighter main compared to the beef but I loved the paring of fennel and the fish.

Lobster Emulsion and Black Truffle and Beef Fillet:
[carrot puree, beer onion, finger potato, truffle jus, summer truffle]
The beef Fillet was just how I liked it, perfectly pink and juicy in the middle complimented with my favourite root vegetables and mash.

Truffle Marsala Tiramisu dessert:
Jasmine rice sorbet, chocolate wind, summer truffle
As well as a good beginning, the end was good especially the Jasmine rice sorbet which had a fragrant strong taste of rice contrasted by the bitterness of the coffee bubble.

Hello Summer at [The Artisan Room]
2018-08-18  140 瀏覽
I was meeting friends at The Cobo House which is right next door.
Since I was early, I went inside [The Artisan Room] to have a look.
It was a chic and modern place for drinks and cakes.
The cakes in display cabinet were so pretty.
On the side they have high quality teas which you can smell.
You can also buy the Designtific Scientific Coffee kit which has ground coffee in vials, drip-bags, and sugar in micro tubes. Ground coffee is sealed in each injection bottle for freshness and each bottle contains just the right amount for a cup of coffee.
It was hot so I had the Longan Sparkling drink from the Hello Summer Series.
The Longan Sparkling drink was so good as it wasn't too sweet and not everyday do you come across sparkling drinks that are longan based.

Definitely coming back for cakes and tea.

[Review 6733] Hong Kong style old school bakery @ 凱施餅店 Hoixe Cake Shop

To be honest, I have never liked anything from hoixe, especially the egg tarts and weird butter cakes that never go moldy after months of sitting on the desk!!!

Anyway, tried the black forest cake which was surprising good especially the chocolate sponge cake base.

I didn't eat the chocolate cream though as it was just some weird emulsion and not fresh cream.

There were no cherries in it either but some sort of jelly to acting as cherries.
I assumed I didn't like their bakeries because they are different from European cakes but when I was looking at their cakes from outside, some locals said their cakes make them puke which is interesting so it isn't just me.
To be honest, this cake should be called a chocolate cake as there are no cherries in it at all.

A stylish way to spend Happy Hour

After trying the Singmalay Tea treats, I almost missed a stylish Happy Hour if I didn't see this glam poster on the way out.

I have to admit, I was lured back by the digital promotion near the concierge.
At the Lobby Bar Counter, there were these beautiful ceramic Qipao figurine jars.

There are four signature cocktails to wow you!!

I tried the Beer Milkshake while my friend had the China Lady:
The Beer Milkshake was a fun concoction of Chocolate Ice Cream, Porter, Milk, cream, chocolate sauce and topped with an Oreo.

The China lady was very feminine and Oriental with Chinese liquers like Shochu, Plum Wine, Lemon Juice, Maple syrup, Pasteurized Egg White and and Cucumber.

I definitely enjoyed my girly time here and can't wait to come back to try the Pina-Kale Ada and Singapore Sling!!

Singmalay Treats for Tea Time

[Cafe Malacca] located at Hotel Jen is a popular place for Singaporeans and Malaysians to hang out because you get the real deal there.
They are now serving Singapore and Malaysian Treats during Tea Time so it was a good opportunity for me to try all these treats which I have not tried before, these treats are also on the A la Carte menu so next time I know what to order.
Starting with the Savouries, there is Pie Tee, Chwee Kueh, Murtakbak and Curry Puff, moving on to the sweets, there are Kuih Dadar, Kaya Toast and Durian Pudding which comes with Kopi-O or Teh Tarik for $288 with an extra 10% service charge.
All the savouries were equally good but my favourite had to be the Chwee Kueh which is like savoury rice pudding topped with preserved radish and sambal sauce.

It was my first time trying the Murtakbak and it tasted like a stuffed square puff pastry balanced by the pickles on top.

Moving on to the sweets, the creamy durian pudding was amazing and the kaya toasts are always my favourite because I love pandan, just like the Kuih Dadar pandan crepe rolls filled with coconut.

To finish off, the Kopi-O and Teh Tarik were a perfect ending.

I am so glad I tried this and the Tea Set is great way of sampling these Singmalay delights if you are new to it!

Authentic SingMalay fare at Hotel Jen

Hotel Jen is located near Hong Kong university so it used to be an effort to go but now the MTR has made it much more accessible.
Since the last dinner, there were so many new items on the menu like durian puddings with a choice of D24 and Musang.
+++++++++++
Started with drinks: Michael Jackson and Chin Chow.
They both have herbal jelly but Michael Jackson is mixed with soy milk and the syrup is served separately which is brilliant.

Here was the food that we had:
Assorted satays with ricecakes:
Tender grilled meats which have a very sweet taste paired with peanut sauce.

For noodles we had the Penang assam Laksa and Ipoh Bee Thai Bak.
Tbe Penang assam Laksa was my favourite because it was strong and tangy with a hint of spiciness.

The Ipoh Bee Thai Bak has short strands of noodles which are similar to Chinese pin noodles and the broth was not spicy.

For the mains, we had the Grilled stingray which was moist and silky.

Finished with Fried beansprouts/beanshoots with salted fish which was another comforting dish because it tastes like choysuey.

The dessert choices were captivating so we had the Abok Abok, D24 durian pudding, Musang durian pudding and coconut jelly.

If you like durian then these puddings are a must but personally I prefer D24 as a dessert because the Musang pudding can get quite heavy especially if you didn't leave room for dessert.

I was really looking forward to dining here because of the decor.

However the noodles were average and the broth was very salty.
The pork blood cubes tasted strange and rather metallic.

The fried chicken fared better but also extremely salty.
