Since my last visit to Hon 10, they are now serving Omakase which is good when you can't decide what to eat. There are two choices, but sadly only in Chinese at the moment. But then what you get is different each time so it doesn't matter if the menu is in Chinese or English because there will always be some appetizer, sashimi, soup, cooked item and sushi.
As I was there early, I got my favourite drink which is made with berry jam puree and carbonated water. It was refreshing and bubbly.
The omakase was a great start because the first appetizer was light and delicious. It was my favourite soybean sheets in delicious soymilk!!! The white sweetcorn was just angelic and sweet.
Next was the sashimi, I loved the maguro and the side of plum jelly which was really appetizing.
Next were the Alaskan crab legs which were juicy topped with generous amounts of truffle.

As a fish lover, the fried fish was good, the texture was flaky.
Next was the star of the show! Juicy cubes of wagyu beef. Each bite was soft and tender.

It was tasty on its own without the yuzu pepper but adding it made it taste even nicer with fiery salty kick to it. The finale was sushi which was a great ending leaving me almost full but with room for dessert.
Dessert finished with this smooth and silky beancurd pudding topped with grounded black sesame!
Overall, it was good from beginning to end and the best thing when you can't be bothered to decide.

I thought I was seeing things when I saw another DALLAYAU on the floor above the popup store and it turns out that this was a new Bistro so we went there for dinner as it is nice and quiet.
The cake selection is as good as always and it is impressive that they have a gluten free cake as a choice.

As it was a cold day, we started with soups:
++++
Parisian vegetable soup:
To most people, it looks like finely diced vegetables but I really liked it because it was light and tasty consomme.

Onion soup with cheese toast:
The onion soup was also good because it was sweet with a concentrated onion taste that wasn't too salty.
+++
Lobster salad Religieuse:
This was a savory version of the Religieuse dessert, the top choux is stuffed with avocado while the bottom choux is filled with lobster.

+++
duck confit opera:
This is a close up to show the beautiful layers.

++++
Norwegian salmon roll:
The salmon roll is so much more stunning than the photo because it is wrapped in a delicious clear savory jelly.
In the middle there is a poached egg with a runny yolk which makes it evilicious and gives it a surprise to someone who is having it for the first time.
The gem lettuce on the side has been drizzled with lemon juice so it is really appetizing.

++++++++++
Duck leg confit:
Next was the signature duck leg confit, the meat was soft and supple that it came off the bones easily.

+++++
Croque Monsieur:
I had to get the Croque Monsier because I just love cheese and ham.

+++++
scones:
Finished with a scones because scones and cream are irresistible.

Also had other cakes and drinks.
The Earl Grey and chocolate was a wonderful hot drink to end dinner.

I love Yunnan food (known as the DIAN cuisine) but there are not many places for it.There is one in Kowloon City but there are more options here like soup, strange insects and Chinese cheeses!!
Started off with a memorable glutinous rice tea which was really fragrant.
Unfortunately, they give you some pickles which are charged.

Here was the food I had:

As a carbs lover, I got the rice with peas and Chinese ham which was delicious because it was fluffy and tasty flavoured by the ham and sweet peas.

The beef with lemon was an interesting combination so I decided to try it out and the taste was surprisingly good because the lemon made it appetizing.

++++++
Chinese cheese was a must for me but there were two types on the menu Rubing and Rushan.
I had to ask the staff which one was the savoury one because one is sweet and crispy served with rose!

The cheese tasted like halloumi cheese flavoured by the saltiness of the ham.
++++++++++
For dessert finished with their famous dumplings in rose essence!

L'Eclair de Genie Mid-Autumn collection 2017

Since the opening L'Eclair de Genie at Pacific Place and Prince’s Building in autumn 2015, there are now branches in Kwun Tong, Olympic and Tai Koo.
For Mid Autumn festival, they have launched two festive eclairs and limited edition Mid-Autumn festival mooncakes.

The man himself Christophe Adam was in Hong Kong to showcase the new collection.
No 286 Chestnut Umeboshi is filled with vanilla mascarpone cream and chestnuts from France, following a layer of umeboshi confit which gives it a salty kick to complement the chestnut.
It is garnished with a white chocolate golden rabbit, golden leaves and chestnut cream to give it that Autumn festive character.

No 287 Red bean sesame is very buttery and a popular pick because it is infused with smooth red bean cream and sesame crisp garnished with a rabbit and lotus pattern on pink.

La Lune Mooncake gift box are 4 colourful milk or dark chocolate shells filled with goodies.

Two contain fruit jellies (lemon yuzu lemongrass, coconut pandan) and the other two are caramelized nuts (caramelized hazelnuts, almonds).

The jellies which appear to be wrapped in plastic are 100% edible because the wrapping is just rice paper.

Fruit jellies (pate de fruit) are a traditional French sweet treats that are made with natural fruit juice.

Traditional dimsum with pork fat
2017-08-27  107 瀏覽
The dimsum here is quite traditional in that it contains lots of pork lard and pork fat.
Therefore you have to select carefully if you don't eat that.
As usual I had the prawn dumplings which were flawless and the dumpling skin was taut.
The texture was springy with meaty prawns inside.
The abalone noodles were on promotion so I ordered them, however the staff were not clear as to which noodles were served because they seemed to say it was the thick ones and it turned out to be the wonton noodles.
It was difficult to communicate because it was soooooo noisy.

The noodles were quite nice because the gravy made it delicious but there was not enough gravy for all the noodles.

The rest of the dimsums fared average but the layered custard sponge was really tasty but when you discovered pieces of pork fat, you either love or hate it.

[Review 5893] Not your boring Japanese fare @ HON10

Hon10 is conveniently located in Pacific Place on the ground floor.
They serve fine Japanese food with a Western touch.
I was attracted because they had dishes with a Western touch which suits my palate more.
The Sakura smoked salmon was really good because it was sashimi grade sakura smoked salmon with baguette slices, wasabi cream sauce and spring onions for you to put together.

The buffalo chicken was also good because of the sauce, it was made with celery and cheese.
The Wagyu comes with four fun condiments to dip.

My ultimate favourite was the Wagyu Yakiniki cheese roll because it tastes exactly the same as a Philly Cheese steak except the beef is better and there are so much delicious onions tossed with it topped with cheese and it is paired with purple potato crisps.

For those who clearly like sushi and sashimi.
Clearly it is fresh so I won't bother going into details about the sashimi and sushi etc but my favourite was the eel rolls because it was topped with soft and creamy avocado and my favourite salmon roe.

The Tuna Maniac roll (mixed tuna platter) was also good because the grilled tuna and the lean tuna were my faves.

Finished with the strawberry jam soda which was very refreshing with a natural taste as they make it with their homemade jams.

Some surprisingly good dimsums

After trying this traditional layered cake at LinHeungLau, I decided to come here and try it here as well.
Tried the crispy and steamed prawn dumplings. The steamed version was actually pretty good because the prawn was springy and sweet.
The crispy version and the fried items at this restaurant did not fare so well because the oil was a bit old hence all ther fried items had a rancid taste.
The steamed custard buns were quite good with a runny filling that was not too sweet.
The layer cake could have been better because I couldn't taste any of the dessicated coconut and there was too much egg yolk which made it too rich. There was also pork lard in it which ruined it.
The fried pumpkin and taro cake was really good especially the mushy pumpkin, however it was way too salty.
The egg tarts were good but again the pork lard ruined it.
