2/3 Dolci starring at Cafe Deco Pizzeria
2019-09-10  91 瀏覽
Cafe Deco Pizzeria has been around for ages.
There was a branch at Sheung Wan which  I didn't get to visit.
Previously they were on the 1st floor of elements and now they have moved to the 2nd floor next to the cinema.

When I arrived, I was greeted with a gelato cabinet which happened to be my favourite gelato brand 2/3 Dolci.
Their pistachio gelato is highly recommended.

As I was early, I had the salted caramel milkshake which is made with 2 scoops of 2/3 Dolci gelato.

Crostini plate:
This was a nice light assortment of crab and salmon on crostini.

Steak Tartare:
The steak tartare is highly recommended as there was a nice balanced taste with tart pickles.

Roasted Octopus:
Not what I expect to find on the menu but I liked it because of the Mediterranean twist with olives etc.

Pork cheeks cavatalli:
It was a creative combination of olives which was really moreish as the sauce was tangy and just the thing for summer.

From the choice of 10 pizzas, we reduced it down to two!
The Japanese free range egg with smoked tuna belly pizza and the M6 Wagyu beef and prawn.

Japanese free range egg with smoked tuna belly pizza:
The tuna belly pizza was really tasty enhanced by the egg and Shichimi oil which gives it a spicy exotic flare.

M6 Wagyu beef and prawn:

Desserts are a must and they have the latest souffle pancakes but my favourite was the cheesecake which was presented in a deconstructed way wrapped in fruit jelly.

The fighting flavours:
Salted caramel mousse with candied peanuts.

The best of both worlds (cheesecake):

Souffle pancakes: Original and Matcha.

The pastry was very buttery, and when the packet was opened, you could smell the butter from the pastry.

The pastry was about 4mm thick and tasted like the Taiwanese pineapple roll pastry, but softer.

The egg custard in the middle was warm orange in colour, and the texture was dense like cheesecake.
In terms of taste, I found it too sweet and sugary.
It did not taste as good as the first time I tried it in 2012 because it was just sugary and chalky.

Bangers and mash!

Went here with a friend.
Tried the sausages in mash which reminded of bangers and mash!
Overall, it was ok but the butter in the mash was too overwhelming as the butter smelt a bit strange.
Finished with the tea which was the best!

Discovered this on the way to K11Musea.
Grabbed a musubi and some vegetables.
The musubi was salmon with seaweed.
It contains brown rice so there is a nice firm chewy texture.
I don't know why but the salmon was quite fishy.
Next was the veggies with clams and garlic which I found quite salty.
Overall very satisfied because I love carbs and veggies.
Anyway, there is also a Tens Musubi at K11Musea.

My Day is a wedding venue in TST with a beautiful rooftop
The interior is dreamy and elegant.
As they are doing a tea set at the moment, I seized the opportunity to try it.

Here was the tea set which comes with:
Homemade Mini Seafood Burger + Mini Crabmeat Egg Tart + Smoked Salmon Mousse + Pineapple Roll + Hazelnut mango cake + Blueberry Yoghurt Mousse Cup + Grilled Pineapple + Macarons

Started with the savoury items which were delicious especially the smoked salmon mousse open sandwich topped with caviar, mini burgers.

On the sweet side was the pineapple rolls and delectable macarons which made my day.

A great place to go in the afternoons for tea with beautiful surroundings.
As well as tea sets, they also serve lunch.

Apple Yogurt Cup with Hawthorn And Fruity Granola
2019-08-22  258 瀏覽
Last year Pacific Coffee did a crossover with Yiu Fung's preserved plum and this year they are doing the Hawthorn series which are added to drinks and desserts.
The yoghurt was more captivating because I love apple.
It was an Apple Yogurt Cup with Hawthorn And Fruity Granola which had Yiu Fung's diced hawthorn.
It was pretty good that the granola was separated as it was quite sweet.

The granola was quite nice but then I wouldn't really call it granola as it didn't have much oats or nut.
They were just rice crispies and dried fruit which I was quite happy with and it even had dried pineapples and apples as well as Yiu Fung's Hawthorn pieces.
Anyway, the yoghurt and apple at the bottom tasted quite good together so I didn't really need the granola so I just ate then separately.

Unique Chiu Chow delights

As I was crossing the road I spotted this obviously Chinese restaurant with a name Nine Kee so I took a closer look out of curiosity.

The stuff displayed at the window was the usual stuff ie duck and cold mullet.
Then I spotted this fried fish that looked like canned dace fish so I decided to go in and try it.
Found out that the fish was Cutlass fish which is a fish that looks like a long flat eel.
I've actually tried it before at a wet market restaurant that was a gem but closed down during renovation.
It was in soup form with radish and black pepper and it was just amazing but I doubt anyone has heard of because it is a fishermans soup drank by fishermans and their families.
Started off with the Chiuchow fried noodles (chiujauchauminseen) which is a must as not many places serve it.
A must try if you go during the day as it costs HKD96 at night.
The strands of noodles are super thin and it is tossed with spring onions, purple onions and pork.

It was nice and not too salty but the pork wasn't that fresh and there was a slight oil taste from the wok but still acceptable.
Next was the Cutlassfish (ngadaaiyu) which was chewy and crispy.
It was refried so it was hot.
The saltiness of this fish would go well with beer but I ordered plain congee which also went well.

The only complaint was that it was cut into pieces so the bone structure is damaged.
Will be back because the octopus tentacles looked good!
Overall good but a bit pricey!

[Review 7660] Exclusive hotpots at the K11 Sichuan House @ 霸王川莊 Sichuan House

It has been a while since I have last been to Sichuan House.
The K11 branch has hotpot which is exclusive.
There is a nice bar area.
In the middle, there is a display of all the herbs used in the hotpots which you can smell and see what they look like.

Condiments:
The food at Sichuan House is authentically spicy so I ordered a grapefruit slush as a cooler for when things get hot!!

The menu:
We had the pickled fish pot and the Sichuan pot.
Both were super fiery as this restaurants guarantees that authentic spiciness.

For hotpot items, we had vegetables, seafood and meat which were all fresh and tasty.
As the food was really spicy, we finished with their house made gelato!!!

The Sichuan pepper had a really strong numbing feeling so beware!
