I have always wanted to go to that singers XLB joint in SSP but unfortunately it closed down. They used to have all these colourful dumplings.
Anyway, the old shop is still there so went there for the omnipork XLB.

As well as the XLB, there are other omnipork options on the menu:
When they came, they looked so perfect from the folds to the way it was steamed.
I think I was lucky in the sense that not many people order it so they were freshly made.
Inside, there was some broth in it and it was filled with courgettes and omnipork.
It was not overly salty so it was healthy.

Super Hidden Veg menu
Last year, found out that Pizza Express were launching some vegetarian dishes so decided to give it a visit.
Normally I go Pizza Express in London where it all started, then tried it when it came to Hong Kong.
Not long, the menu was localized hence I never went back.
Anyway, after shopping at USelect went here for dinner.
Was browsing through the menu and couldn't find the vegetarian dishes.
Perhaps they had changed the menu again as the promotion was last year, just as I had made up my mind to order I found the damn menu booklet little hidden underneath the front of the back cover so had to decide again.
Couldn't find the planted based pizza because found out that is for the Singaporean PE.
Ordered the omnipork fusilli, you can personalize your pasta so changed it to spaghetti.
Funnily when it came, there wasn't any omnipork so they had to recook it.
According to the menu, this is what is in the dish:
Omnipork the plant-based pork alternative, flavoured with fennel and water chestnut. Served with garlic, chili flakes, button mushrooms and rocket
The taste was great with a spicy kick but couldn't quite taste the fennel and water chestnuts or see any of the button mushrooms.
The ravioli was good but a bit oily and too salty.
Avoiding the local pizzas, I felt the pastas were slightly better and the salad we had was great.
The avocados were ripe and the lemon dressing had a proper lemon tang to it unlike sweet lemon dressing at other restaurants.
For drinks, had the smoothie which is said to not contain any sugar but it tasted horribly sweet not the fault of the restaurant but the apple they used were naturally sugary and starchy.
Finished with the apple tortino which was really good and got 30% off it as friend was wearing orange.
The sweetness of that was normal and not as irritating as the juice.

Went here because I got this place confused with this other hotpot place that serves duck blood jelly. They serve them here but not the ones I wanted.
The menu turned out to be quite good so stayed as they had omnipork meatballs.

Started with the hami melon slush which was quite syrupy.
Also had the pan fried Pork buns which I thought were ready to eat but you have to put them in the hotpot.

For the main hotpot, chose the spicy and pork with pork slices and omni pork.

The omnipork balls were fun putting them in the hotpot as I have not encountered the uncooked form before.
When I have them from other restaurants, they are all cooked.
They actually behave like real pork because when they are cooked the colour is not so bright and translucent.
Overall, I enjoyed dining here as the menu options were good.

Finally made an effort to eat at #肉餅哥 because of omnipork.
Ideally the steamed omnipork with lotus root should have been ordered but I have already tried the panfried version at Kind Kitchen.
There was also Chiuchow style and Sichuan style patties in the omnipork series.
To be honest, it is better off ordering the steamed ones because they don't have the old oil pan fried taste which is worse if you order the meat version because more people eat meat so the oil is probably stronger as the oil is reused more often.
Anyway, the sweet and sour sauce was really good which complimented the omnipork patty very well and it was like eating pork patty without the smelliness

Omnipork in Shanghai Pan Fried Buns

There are so many plant based meats around but Omnipork is a brand developed in Hong Kong.

The first time I ordered it was at Kind Kitchen where it was in patty form stuck to a lotus root slice and pan fried.
I decided to try the Pan Fried Buns here because they were using Omnipork in them.

The only complaint was the Pastry as it was too dry and hard as if they were made and left there for a while before anyone ordered them.
Inside the filling was juicy just like the meat version.
Apart from the dryness of the pasty, I would be happy to order this again as Hong Kong meat is not fresh and they stink unless you go to high end restaurants.

Finally tried omnipork at Kind Kitchen.
Omnipork is basically plant based vegan version of pork.
There are quite a few dishes on the menu that uses omnipork: dumplings, patty with lotus root and some noodles.
I decided to have the pork patty so that I could taste the omnipork in a better way as the dumplings are wrapped in dumpling skin.
When it came, it did look like pork, but the taste was similar to beyond meat which is a beef version.
Overall, it was really good so I am looking forward to other dishes later.
