A while ago was given these cookies from a foodie friend.Isabelle is quite popular in Hong Kong and each box is conveniently wrapped for giving away as gifts.
The contents inside:
There were a good assortment of cookies inside but my favourite was the Taiwanese style shortcake.
It was slightly chewy in a lovely butter shortcrust and it was not too sweet.

Went to CoCo Espresso for some food and drinks.
The food and beverage options were a bit boring so just got the reuben sandwich which was rather hard and didn't really look like a reuben.
Somehow the cheese wasn't very fresh so there was a strange smell.

My friend has an affection for red velvet cakes so got that as well.

I found it rather hard and sugary.
The only thing that saved the day was the tea which was very fragrant and pleasant to drink.

This shop has been here for ages but I don't know if this was the first branch or the one at Kowloon City.
Anyway, I never really bought anything from here because the attitude of the staff are rather off putting.
There are about four shop assistants which all seem to get in the way where ever you try and browse.
Secondly,  they never budge which is typical wherever you go shopping in Hong Kong.

There are lots of delicacies and condiments so it's good if you know what you are looking for otherwise expect to be followed about.

Anyway, they had these really good Bruce Cost Ginger Ales which come in lots of flavours.
I got the Jasmine Tea ginger ale.
The cap was really convenient as you can just twist it off without the need for a bottle opener.
I definitely recommend this soda because there are chunks of ginger at the bottom and they use cane sugar as a sweetener which gives it a unique taste that is really palatable.
Overall, I really loved this drink and it had a good fizz.

[Review 7067] I love TEAPIGS! @ Teapigs

24/12/2018
Teapigs
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/i-love-teapigs-e3255226

teapigs is a famous brand of artisan tea in the UK which are now all over the world.
I encountered them a few years ago at a stall at the Island East Markets and now you can find them all over Hong Kong and available at most restaurants and cafes.

Time flies and it was their 10th birthday two years ago.
I loved the packaging because it was colourful and the graphics are well designed like their other teas which makes them memorable and outstanding.
The jelly and ice cream birthday blend is the best way to celebrate as it is fun and everyone likes it.
The ingredients in this tea are: apple, blueberry, orange peel, liquorice root, citric acid, strawberry pieces, vanilla pieces, natural vanilla flavouring, raspberry flavouring, natural cream flavouring, natural biscuit flavouring.
When I took the tea temples out, there was a lovely sweet berries and cream smell and the tea has a pretty pink colour to it with a fine tart taste to it.
As well as jelly and ice cream, the Earl Grey strong was really pleasant too drink.
I just love the flavours at teapigs, next time I hope to try chocolate & Mint, apple cinnamon, and rhubard and ginger.

[Review 7037] Healthy Poke @ Peek-A-Poke

Went here because I like the flexibility of building your own poke and they have lots of healthy raw ingredients.
I admire the fact that they do not claim to be authentic but serve Hawaiian inspired POKE.
This joint is located on Haven Street so it is nice and quiet on weekdays.
Decorated with paddles and fish nets which make it a lovely corner in CWB.

Ordered a build your own poke, crab salad and some drinks.
The Pineapple Coco Cooler was served in a tiki tiki glass, it was thick and creamy with a surprising fizz in it.
Couldn't quite taste the pineapple but it was minty.
The Almond smoothie was very filling because it is a meal substitute loaded with almond milk and oat milk and my favourite cinnamon.
Also got the jax coco because the one they had here was fizzy.
My friend had the crab salad as she was on diet.
Here was my poke which was so damn good!!!!!!
It had so much kelp in it and I love kelp!!!!
I also chose tofu and edamame to go with it as it is healthy.
Will definitely be back for more poke bowls with kelp and other choices!!

I suppose I could eat musubis everyday because they are so delicious and I end up getting them when I didn't intend to just because they happen to be around. This joint is located near exit K and there are some bar tables at the far end to eat if you wanted to.
This time I fell for the spicy konbu which was quite good but I wish there were more pieces of konbu in the middle.
It is not as spicy as anticipated.
The buttered potato was hard but then ideally it tastes better reheated.

The butter is not overwhelming so it will not go all over the place when you rip the packet open.

Mäckish sandwiches at Rye House
2018-12-04  1443 瀏覽
Went to the Nordic Innovation House opening a few days ago. After the opening, there was food served on the top floor by the Mäckish girls Olga and Kegen.
I was gutted I didn't try the moose Mäckish but then I discovered they were doing a two day pop up at Rye House so I decided to go as I haven't been to Rye House either.
Rye House serves Nordic food but I only tried the sandwiches that day as it was only a two day event.
I will come back for the egg pie and other Nordic goodies.

They had drinks and sauces imported from Finland and Sweden.

Sauces:

Here were the open faced sandwiches that I had where I ate like there was no tomorrow as this was my first and last time trying it.
==========
- Skagen Mäckish (Left)-
Skagen is a Swedish treasure, a cream based on mayo and shrimps.
Freshened up with horseradish, dill & lemon zest.
Served on rye bread with salad topped with roe, red onion and lemon.
This was sensational as it was just like eating prawn and mayonnaise taken to the next level with red onions and dill.
The lemon gives it a refreshing balance so that the mayonnaise doesn't get too heavy.

==========
- Renskavs Mäckish (right) -
“Renskav” is a classic Swedish beloved dish but this time with a twist.
The creamy reindeer meat is combined with sour lingonberries, parsley and pickled chanterelles.
It was definitely a festive Mäckish with red lingonberries, parsleys and pickled saukeraut to compliment the creamy reindeer meat!!!
It tasted like lean ostrich meat and there is no gaminess.
Sorry Santa, I ate your reindeers.
==========
- Vegan Super Beautiful -
A colourful and sweet hummus combined with steamed mini asparagus and beetroot sprouts.
Topped with black and white sesame seeds.
Hummus never fails because I love cumin and pureed textures.

==========
Can't wait to come back and try the stews and everything else.

Last but not least were the drinking straws!!
These are the stalks of Rye Grass that are natrual and hollow which allows you to sip your drinks.
It makes perfect sense to use these as horses are fed hay and straw!

Discovered Food Monster since I was dining at the Taiwanese restaurant on the same floor.
At Food Monster, they sell frozen foods which can be eaten there.
Behind the shop is a party room where you can book for events such as cooking, parties etc.

Got the mango and durian lollies which are said to be 100% fruit.
To my surprise, they were indeed 100% fruit on a stick.
The taste is basically the taste of fruit put on a stick and then frozen.
The durian had a really strong smell but the taste was not that strong or sweet since you are eating it frozen.

The mango was quite palatable as it was too sweet but the texture was quite woody so you are getting real mango here!

As well as desserts, they also have frozen items such as ice lollies and jellies. They all cost $10 each so decided to try them.
The milk lolly was quite good as it wasn't too sweet and it was creamy just like "Walls Mini Milks' but with a softer bite.

For the Frozen Jelly, there were two flavours.
It was difficult to get them to defrost as the guy at Chateraise said to wait a few minutes.
The texture was like sorbet so I liked the blood orange while the Kyoto grape was too artificial.

The spork (Spoon+fork) you get is great for spooning the sauce and rice!

I really liked the miso beef goulash because the sauce was rich and went well with the rice.

Also had the curry pork tonkatsu.
The pork was very crispy and while the curry was not strong but great with the rice.
I really liked the pickles but some people might find it too acidic.

The Japanese tea was a great finish because it was delicate and soothing.
