Came here for a gathering, ordered a dinner set, with the usual soup, chicken, tofu, vegetables, stir fried vegetables.
The only thing that was a bit different and I havent tried before was the cook milked in curd/egg form.

I was hesitant to give it a try, because I assumed it would be sweet, but it was savory, with bits of crab in it. Actually I was wondering if its meant to be that Shanghai egg white dish with crabmeat.

Anyway dessert was included, heart shaped marshmallows (only 6, could have have been more for a table of 12), the sago pudding was a bit too sweet, and the tapioca pearls were over cooked and like a thick paste with the pudding.

[Review 285] Heaven on Earth? @ 天與地中華料理 Heaven on Earth

This restaurant has always been mysterious to me, firstly its name, and the picture, but when you get to Knutsford Terrace, you realise it a restaurant amongst the pubs there.

Heaven on Earth is a subsidiary of The King Parrot group, so the food tastes roughly the same as its other restaurants, that are under different names, there is a slight variation in dishes offered here.

Ordered:
Taiwanese bamboo vermicelli
stir-fried fun pay
Clams in Wine
Beef with pancake wraps
Fried egg whites

The bamboo vermicelli tasted a bit plain, same with the fun pay, the clams in wine were the best, as there were a lot of clams in the soup with wine, slight bitterness in it, but went well with the mushrooms.
Also ordered the fried egg whites desserts, tasted ok, first time to have it filled with taro ice-cream, since its usually red beans, mango or plain ice-cream.

[Review 284] Noodles with soy sauce @ 安利魚蛋粉麵 On Lee Noodles

Only came here to try noodles, because the dry noodles are mixed with soya sauce, and in other places, the dry noodles rely heavily on the other ingredients to give it flavour.

I ordered the dry noodles with wonton, it came neatly served in the bowl, laid with iceberg lettuce and wontons on the top.

The noodles were utterly delicious, with soy sauce, the wontons tasted how it should with a hint of sesame sauce.

[Review 283] Trek into the New Territories @ 綿綿冰甜品屋 (元朗)

I rarely go to the New Territories, but I came all the way just to try their Taro flakey ice, after researching on openrice, this is the only place that does Taro flavour.

However, when it was served, the texture just turned out to be 100% ice-cream, the taste was purely frozen Taiwanese Taro milk tea, made with that milk powder.

I believe the suppliers do not have Taro flavour, so they must have made their own concoction of it, and processed it with the flake shaving machine. Probably the mixture was too creamy, hence it doesnt have that icy texture.

For the toppings, there were some that were not offered in other dessert houses, such as the black sugar jelly (shaped like chopped spaghetti), and the green tea jelly cubes usually found in the Taiwanese drinks. Awkwardly enough, the topping were placed beneath the shaved ice rather than on top!

Apart from dessert, also ordered fried smiley potatoes and Taiwanese fried chicken with your choice seasoning.

The smiley potatoes are not a a regular menu item in alot of places, so I ordered that, they were golden yellow, but still too over done for my liking, as I like it crunchy outside with a soft inside. But I think this is the way Hong Kong people like to fry their stuff.

For the fried chicken pieces, it is basically fried chunks of chicken thigh in a crunchy flour coating, and my choice of seasoning was seaweed. There are various other seasonings such as curry, Mexican chili, spring onion and so on.

[Review 282] Quality egg tarts and pies @ 小阮子 (油麻地)

I don't have many favourite places for egg tarts or pies, but this is definitely one of them.
For egg tarts, you can either have the hot ones or cold ones, the cold ones are really good, flakey crust crust with a cool egg tart filling, just the right sweetness.

Then for pies, I have also tried the peach pie and the apple pie.
Both have a lovely light and crumbling buttery crust, not too sweet either.

[Review 281] Die of thirst @ Sauce (西貢)

Sat down, at that time there were not many people, so my friend asked for some hot water, which was brought to her only, they did not even offer me a glass, and I did not ask for one since I was busy looking at the menu.

After browsing the menu, finally ordered a sirloin steak and ravioli.

Waited for a while and the restaurant filled with tables of customers, then taking a glance at the other tables, they all had glasses of water, so where the hell is mine!
I think this is the negative comment I would give to it, I wanted to ask the manager why all the other tables had water and I didnt.

Anyway, the food arrived, it was so-so, not that European or Italian, I think ordering the Tapas would have been a better choice. The so-called lunch set as stated on the menu wasnt even a set, because no drinks were included. For $75, in central or wanchai this would be medium-high end choice on the menu including soup and drink.

I couldnt be bothered to complain so asked for water.
I also forgot to bring my camera, so I couldnt take pictures of the food or all the other tables with water except ME!!!

[Review 280] Select wisely, the choice is yours @ Applegreen (旺角)

Finally tried this place, after seeing all the scrumptious pictures.

It can be very delicious or it can be ordinary depending on what you pick.

The buffalo wings were a bit of a disappointment, not cooked thorough enough, as it is still red and bloody around the bones.
The fries in Cajun seasoning were aromatic, and fried just right.

The Green princess salad, was elegant and presented as stated, slightly too small as a portion. But I suppose quality is better than quantity.

Then finally the seared Ahi Tuna was the best, tuna wrapped in seaweed then fried in a tempura batter, half cooked, with the wasabi soya vinegar sauce was a perfect match.
