[Review 400] 麻薯波'd donut @ 芭琳莎 Princess Donut

Basically as stated by their shop, not a donut!
I got the plain charcoal one without the fancy rainbow coloured candies, and found its chewyness and texture to be like the 麻薯波 sold at A1 bakery, Panash, those cheese/chocolate/cranberry flavoured Pontxxxx.
Anyway I quite enjoyed my plain one, not too sweet, but when i finished it, I did feel I had a greasy mouth. It was not so greasy at the beginning, only towards the end it felt greasy.
Just like Babedolphin mentioned, it did have a slightly runny centre, same as the 麻薯波's.

[Review 399] Snowflake ice with Valrhona chocolate @ China Town Dessert 糖仁街 (尖沙咀)

My second visit to China Town dessert.
This time I had the taro snowflake ice with hazelnut syrup topped with Valrhona chocolate balls.
It tasted as good as last time, however slightly different this time with the Valrhona chocolate, rich dark chocolate blending with faint taste of Taro.
The taro base is not as milky as the one at Sweet CC, this one is more icy.

[Review 398] Minced Pork with Thai Basil @ Ra Cha Moo Yang 超級食得開心

Usually the minced pork with spices and lime juice is served as a starter and wrapped in gem lettuce.

It can also be eaten with rice, as I just did for my gourmet lunch.

Good for hot summer days, when you have no appetite to eat.

The minced pork contained many finely chopped shallots and a few leaves of basil, but enough to have an empowering lingering taste. Nice and appetising with the well mixed lime juice and finely chopped chili.

[Review 397] Hot Spot Wednesday @ Subway

As Wednesday’s special is chicken, expect long long queues, but the wait is worth it.

Firstly there are four choices of bread: White, Honey Oats, Parmesan with herbs, and Wheat. I chose the white for simplicity, usually I have the Parmesan one. After the chicken and cheese was toasted. I picked olives and cucumber and had BBQ sauce.

Their BBQ sauce tastes exactly like the one at McDonalds.

I also got the White chocolate macadamia cookies, a gorgeous chewy sweet cookie with a milky taste from the white chocolate.

[Review 396] Mee Siam 土司工坊 Toast Box (銅鑼灣)

After I saw their new addition of the Mee Siam, I had to give it a try. They finally had something new on their menu since they opened.

As commented in my previous reviews, the Laksa is the most tasteless in Hong Kong, however today it was hotter than usual, also the prawns still had guts attached.

Anyway, the Mee Siam is not as strong as the one at Katong, the coconut milk is very prominent in the soup base. Slighty fruitier than the Katong one, and not spicy at all.
I would recommend it to people who haven’t tried Mee Siam before, to see if they can accept that sort of flavour, and if they can, they can try the stronger one at Katong, which is also at its true spicyness.

For Toastbox, I feel their food is a gentle representation for Singaporean food.

[Review 395] Great Tea sets @ 新金鐘食堂

01/09/2009 新金鐘食堂
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/great-tea-sets-e2025664

Came here for a late afternoon tea, ordered noodles with pork skin with radish, and black peppered chicken burger.

The noodles were OK and tasted how they should, the pork skin reminded me of unshaven stubble.
Anyway the chicken burger was the best, it was much better than I expected, the chicken was thinly cut, also nicely grilled. It was a little different to what I imagined. I was expecting a round bun, but it was a long shaped bun. Also I thought there would be black pepper sauce, however it was chicken marinated with black pepper, then dressed with salad cream.

We thought the food was so good, we ordered an extra tea set, it was already past the tea-time hours but they let us order it.

Apart from their tea, their menu is also quite extensive and very cheap too!

[Review 394] Good egg tarts @ 將軍堡 (荔枝角) Tseung Kwan Castle Cafe

This is my favourite place for egg tarts, especially when the pastry is just right and golden brown.
Very good value at $10 for 5.
The custard filling is rather nice, it tastes of custard and vanilla, and not so much of egg.
Apart from the egg tarts, its other bakery items are good too.
