Got the mini moon cakes from Peninsula boutique, eight cute moon cakes in a box, two layers of four.
The pastry was very buttery, and when the packet was opened, you could smell the butter from the pastry.
The pastry was about 4mm thick, and tasted like the Taiwanese pineapple roll pastry, but softer.
The egg custard in the middles was warm orange in colour, and the texture was dense like cheesecake.
It was not too sweet, with full creaminess of the custard.

[Review 439] Standards dropping @ 愛家 (灣仔) Loving Hut
愛家 (灣仔) 26/09/2009 Loving Hut
灣仔軒尼詩道256號地下
256 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai

This was my third visit, first I wrote a long good review, the second I did not write, the third time the standard had evidently dropped.
The last time I had the fatty pork with pickled vegetables it was topped with so much sauce, this time it was very dry, I had to ask for more sauce.
The imitation pork had an off taste too.
As for the dessert, had the orange, quite interesting, it was made up of orange and jelly, but had the texture of orange.

[Review 438] Chinese pina colada @ Hui Lau Shan 許留山 (將軍澳)

These days I am beginning to like huilaushan, I have been trying mango free products.
(Mango is a popular in hk, yes i know, but i hate the taste of mango)
This time I got the Golden pineapple with crystal jelly to go with my dumplings from the new four seas dragon.
The layers of the drink was quite pretty, clear jelly at the bottom ( crystal jelly), layered by clear yellow, then coconut milk on top with some pineapple pieces.
After mixing the layers, I found notes of vanilla, then sweetness of pineapple and the crystal jelly.
Overall it was a bit like Pina Colada.
Althought HLS claims to be healthy, yes I do agree fruit is healthy, but sometimes I think too much sugar is not healthy.
I agree sugar should be added, but for naturally sweet fruits such as mango and banana there is no need, infact this is why i like smoothies, as the banana is a good natural sweetener to balance out the sourness of the berries.,
But anyway, I requested for less sugar in my pineapple drink, it was fairly sweet, so I would hate to imagine the the sweetness of normal one!!

[Review 437] dragon Queue at the food court @ 四海遊龍鍋貼水餃專門店 Overseas Dragon
四海遊龍鍋貼水餃專門店 Overseas Dragon 26/09/2009

Was a bit surprised they opened a branch in a food court.
As there is not much choice in metro city, it proved to be quite popular with a never ending queue.
The price seems to be slightly more expensive than the dine in at north point.
Quality wise, it is not as good as the one in North point, firstly is it more expensive and secondly its self service.
The dumplings fell apart easily, and rather floppy, unlike the crunchy rigid ones at north point.
Also due to the demand and so many customers waiting, I felt they were short staffed, and the dumplings were not cooked as thorough as they should be.
I would also avoid sitting at the tables near the shop, as there are so many people queuing and whizzing past.

[Review 436] Perfect pasta @ Pasta and Oyster Home 意蠔屋 (北角)
25/09/2009 Pasta and Oyster Home 意蠔屋

Shop 54-55, G/F, 1-3 City Garden, 233 Electric Road, North Point

Initially I wanted to try their branch at Hung Hom, however the location is hard to find and I rarely go there, later I found out there was a new branch at fortress hill, and decided to go there.
As they are located in Hung Hom and fortress hill, both are residential areas, I didn’t expect it to look posh. However the food selection in there have an extreme quality range, by that I mean the lower end of the food is the chachaanteng style food, and the upper end food is very good.
The restaurant was chachaanteng style as expected, the drinks, soups starters were also chachaanteng style.
I think for the people who have been and ordered the lower end items, I dont expect them to give good comments, in fact just so-so comments. So for people who plan to come here, I would recommend them to order the premium items such as the Jumbo oyster, as for the other items you can order them elsewhere.
I chose the beef in satay sauce as an insurance incase the pasta wasnt as good as expected, then ordered the Ink pasta in white wine sauce with Jumbo oysters, the pasta came with soup and a drink.
There were baked pastas, but since I wanted to try the quality of the oyster, I picked the white wine sauce. The cheese in the baked one would have overpowered the oyster.
Although the wait for the pasta was long, but it was worth it, by the time it arrived, the satay had already been finished.
The beef in satay sauce just tasted like chachaanteng stuff, however the mixed mushrooms in it were very good, not the canned ones.
When the pasta came, the Oysters were as huge as claimed, about 7-8cm in length and 4-5cm in width.
Both of the oysters were gently cooked, slightly creamy and runny in the centre, even its stomach contents were still in liquid form, usually it would be firm green/brown inside.
As the oysters tasted nice in its simplest form, the baked ones will also taste good.
However there was no wine taste in the pasta, but all the elements in the pasta were good, the garlic, onions, mushrooms, herbs, if other ingredients were added, it would have ruined the taste such as tomato.

[Review 435] Cosy place to eat @ The Bull and Bear (灣仔)

灣仔謝斐道52-58號金鐘大廈
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/cosy-place-to-eat-e2031737
Last week, wanted to eat here, but it was being refurbished, so finally came here today.
It is quite a small pub, so there was only 4-5 tables and some bar tables.
The menu today was quite good, had difficulty deciding what to order.
Chicken steak, Pork with lemongrass gravy, risotto, and beef tenderloin.
In the end of I got the Risotto, I rarely order Risotto, because the places here don't do it right, but the one from here was nice and cheesy yet not sickly.
Also there was lots of big prawns, scallops in the rice.
It was piping hot too!
The desserts were as good as before, however the portion was smaller than before!

[Review 434] noodle time @ 新九記粥麵 (灣仔) Sun Kau Kee Noodle Shop

After the delicious oyster congee on the last visit, and the noodles with beef belly, this time I tried the noodles in Jahjeung sauce, and also tried the wonton noodles.
The wonton noodles tasted how it should, the wontons were reasonable in size with prawn inside it.
The noodles in Jahjeung sauce was fiery hot and the pork was sliced char siu, the only negative comment I would give is their soup base, very strong in MSG, leaving you thirsty for the whole day.
