I have heard many people mentioning this restaurant, however I didnt know it was this one, the chinese name merely means Simple kitchen, so I was expecting a chinese place. The English name however is trendier.
Personally I really didnt expect the food to be good, just Chinese style cooked Japanese and Italian food. Basically the pasta's and risotto's and the whole style is similar to Pokka Cafe.
The soups were the usual vegetable soup and the Cream soup was the one that tasted the better of the two, it was basically potato soup. Not the fake cream mixed with starchy flour.
The food here is slightly different to the one at MK.

Ordered the set dinner consisting of pasta and scallops in tomato sauce, and beef steak risotto.
The tomato sauce for the pasta was slightly too sour, and the pan-fried scallops were a bit too salty and over grilled.
As for the risotto, it had a slight truffle taste, not the real truffle, but truffle essense as used in Fairwood's truffle scrambled eggs.
Although the risotto wasnt that good, the steak was tender and grilled well.
I liked the desserts, they reminded me of that 中意仿 at Sai Wan ho

However I still havent been there yet, because food is just simple chinese dishes, which doesnt match the elegant desserts.
Ordered tofu cheesecake, white wine jelly, passionfruit alaska, and blackforest chocolate
mousse.
The tofu cheesecake was nice and simple, not much tofu taste but a light starter to the desserts. White wine jelly was rather hard, with lots of fruit in it. The Passion fruit alaska was quite strong with meringe on top, and finally the blackforest mousse was ok, but the jelly in it was blackcurrent rather than cherry.

As said before, I will not post food photos in SK, unless it is very very good or very very bad.
Frankly the food here in the day time is better, good quality dim-sums better than the ones in local sai kung.
however their evening food is not as good, just the normal chinese cafe foods such as yinyang fried rice, noodles etc.

My favourite joint for quick noodles, and fried treasures, the noodles here are always good.
This time tried the fake sharks fin soup, the soup colour was dark caramel containing glass noodles, sliced mushrooms and meat.
My friend got this bowl of pork in soup, basically fat pork belly, which stunk like hell!
Don't know what is the specialty for this dish!!

McDonalds have introduced a chocolate pie which is similar to the marshmallow chocolate pie by KFC last year.
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=1953900
Basically it tastes the same without the gooey marshmallow.
The pastry does not have any chocolate taste at all, it is slightly salty and chocolate coloured.
Same as the KFC one, there is not much chocolate filling inside, you have to eat 60% of the pie before you get any filling.
I was told by Babedolphin that there is a chocolate apple pie in Mcdonalds in China, and a ham and egg pie too that would be interesting to try.

Apart from the delicious chips, hotdogs, and subs, today I tried the Pizza.
It came in a nice pizza pocket designed especially for their pizzas.
There were quite a few slices of pepperoni's on it, but the cheese was tasteless.
The pizza base was quite thin, chewy and slightly crispy.
If it tasted slightly stronger, I would of liked it.

Yellow coloured Kaya filling in the dusted bun, rich in coconut taste, much better than the Starbuck's Kaya bun.
The one at Starbucks just tasted merely of egg custard.
As with all Maxims buns, the bun is so unbalanced, dough on one side and hollow the other side with filling.
Out of all the Singmalay range, I like the Pandan cake the most.

[Review 555] Too Salty @ Hot.com

Decided to try some snacks at this little joint, ordered the beef devil, two skewers of snacks.
The beef bun, was basically satay beef with onions in a Chinese sesame sweet bun, the beef was quite generous. The usual Chinese taste, nothing special about it.
The skewers were fish tofu, spinach fishballs, and some artificial rubber cake with seaweed on the edges.
As they were pre-fried, they were fried again when ordered, basically tasting like hard chewy rubber, and very salty too.
Each skewer cost $10 which was totally not worth it, you can buy these at any market in HK.
The only good point about them, was that they labelled their takeaway bags, as seen on the brown paper bag.
