Didn’t know what to have for dinner, so decided to eat at Satay King, the food here is always good if you pick the right stuff.
On the way there, the queue to the elevator was long, I was expecting it to be quite full on arrival, however on arrival, the restaurant was only 70% full, so got a seat without waiting.

As a basic choice, I always go for the white curry, tastes consistent every time, this time I chose the Japanese crunchy chicken to go with it, when it arrived it was a bit different to how I imagined it to be.
The Chinese description was “K Chui chicken”, so I thought it would be like chicken nuggets in steak form, but instead it was fried pieces of chicken, the chicken tasted better than I thought, it tasted like chicken dipped in red beancurd sauce and deep fried.
The white curry is always as good as usual, and it was good the sauce and chicken was separated.

The chicken curry set came with fried salt and pepper tofu and passion fruit tea.
The tofu was a bit soft and silky, I would have preferred the firmer type, and as for the drink it was quite good, not artificial fruit essence.

As for the other starters, one was a mistake, it was called Golden potato, which I should of guessed was sweet potato not lovely savoury potato.
Then also had the clams in black bean sauce, which was surprisingly good for a place like that, it was slightly gritty, otherwise it was good.

Finally the prawn cakes were a bit over fried, and a bit boring too, the prawn patty was tasteless.

As mentioned before, I still havent eaten any good food at Sai Kung, apart from McDonalds or Starbucks which is just the same as anywhere else.
I havent been to Sai Kung for ages, but quite alot of restaurants have shut down, so hopefully the future ones will be better.

This noodle joint serves noodles and western food.

I ordered the sausage with egg, not really worth paying $45 for it, I knew I wouldnt be full after eating it but I didnt order the sausage platter for $52 because its my first visit, and to be on the safe side I ordered less.

It was a bit strange, there was stir-fried legumes and onions as a side.
The vegetables reeked, it tasted of fried beef ho-fun, so i suspected they cooked the vegetables after cooking noodles.

The seating in this place is rather cramped, hard wood tables and stools.

[Review 578] Dinky Yummy Kaya Buns @ Ra Cha Moo Yang 超級食得開心

This is the first time I purchased a non savory item, they don't usually have Kaya for Thai food, but they had these cute little buns with Kaya paste inside.
Just as the picture shows, there is a generous dollup of Kaya inside.
It is thick, but not that strong in pandan taste, and a little too sweet.

This is the cheapest Christmas lunch I have had so far, but not that British, firstly the starter was quite oriental, containing sugary sweet papaya.

Then the mains came with baby sweetcorn too.
I get annoyed when I order TEA and they ask if I want it with Lemon or Milk, because then the whole place doesn't feel that British, and tea is with milk traditionally.

Anyway, just another option for people I guess.

Overall, it was turkey roll with dates, gravy, broccoli, cauliflower, half baked/boiled potatoes and mash.
The mash was the pre-made ones where you add water to it.

The dessert was dense sponge with peel and currants and vanilla sauce, although it was meant to be brandy, I couldnt taste it.
I think I would only recommend the Christmas lunch to Hong Kongers, It is value for money since it is a five course for $98 (bread, starter, soup, main, pudding and tea).

Before this dessertery, there were quite a few beforehand before they closed down.

The design of this one is rather vibrant, and the variety is different and good.

I got the 3.6 hokkaido milk pudding in chocolate milk with Baileys.
It was served rather neatly on a mini tray, and quite thoughtful of them to provide a small glass of water, especially when some desserts can be quite sweet.

The milk pudding tasted better than the one at Michelin desserts in sheung wan.
The chocolate milk was a bit boring, but when the baileys was added, it made the whole dessert light up.
The amount of baileys given was quite a fair bit too.

Food here is good, but service and chopsticks are not that acceptable.
Firstly had to eat with disposable wooden chopsticks, ready to snap in half at any time.
One of the waiters stunk of BO!
Anyway back to the food.
Whelks in sauce:
a bowl of four whelks in sauce, I thought they would be chewy, but they turned out to be sweet and tender.
Mussels in miso and sake sauce:
was impressed the mussels were fresh, not the frozen ones.
Sakura shrimp and veg tempura:
was not the item I wanted to order, but it tasted ok,
Sakura shrimp and peach roll:
This one tasted the best, ground raw shrimp inside with sweet peach slices inside.
The roll was coated in sakura shrimps, but the thing that let it down was that it didn't stay in one piece when you picked it up with chopsticks.
Overall the food was good, but had difficulty eating mussels and whelks with only a pair of wooden chopsticks and mini fork.

[Review 574] Good breakfast @ 漢堡王 Burger King

Found a burger place that does croissants instead of muffins for breakfast.
Got three items:egg, mushroom and cheese croissant and the sausage, egg, bacon burger with mini hash brown bites.
Drinks were included so got coffee and normal tea.
Drinks were ok, I thought the croissant was the best, the egg was tasteless and was tasty with the melted cheese and mushrooms.
As for the sausage and bacon burger, it was ok too, a sausage patty sliced in half and placed in the long bun. The bacon was a bit chewy.
The mini hash browns were quite good too, bite size much better than McD's.
