[Review 638] Chilled noodles are also good @ Bubble Green

Apart from their hot pasta's, the cold selection is ok too.

Lots of sesame sauce within the noodles, however the portion was a bit small, leaving you hungry afterwards!
Surprisingly for someone does not like carrots, the softened julienne carrots and shredded cucumber went refreshingly well with it.

Although this shop does not specialize in these glutinous rice balls, they were much better than the one I tried at TKO, those were disgusting.
The only complaint was that the pastry was too thick, 70% glutinous rice wrap, and 30% filling, however, the wrap had taste so it was ok.
The coconut roll (green one) tasted softer than expected, I thought it was be firmer and chewy.

Got a take out, as I did'nt want to sit in this open restaurant right in front of a congested road with car fumes and smokers.

Ordered two Hainan chicken's with rice, however when I opened the boxes, I realised they were both completely different.
The way the items were packed was disastrous, the lids of the soup were not even put on the bowl properly, so all the soup spilt, and looked more like a bag of soup when I got back.
Tastewise the food was average.

This place is a totally a different place during day time and evening, in the evening it becomes a BBQ scene, where people can get skewers of meat and various things.

I have wanted to try their stuff since it opened, however my octopus was always out of credit, and there was no sign saying you could pay by cash at the till.

Anyway, packaging and appearance is no way near Mochi Cream, the taste and quality is far from it.

One of them was sour too.

The flavours available are:
Strawberry
Blueberry
Sesame
Custard
Hokkaido milk
Chocolate
Taro
Edaemae beans
Green Tea
Japanese herb

[Review 634] Mini buns in a cute pink bag @ 美心西餅 Maxim's Cake Shop

Wasnt really intending to get anything from Maxims, but saw this cute pink bag with buns packed inside so got it.

The one without the bag costs $10, which only had 4 mini buns, so I suppose the one I got including the bag was cheaper for $18 with 8 buns inside.

There were four flavours:
1 x cheese
3 x cream cheese
2 x chocolate
2 x peanut butter

The cheese one was the only savoury one in the packet, the rest were sweet.
They tasted how it should, however I was surprised with the peanut butter, never imagined a bun to have peanut butter paste inside, although peanut butter is a spread.

[Review 633] Chicken chipolata bun @ 美心西餅 Maxim's Cake Shop

Got this because of the chicken chipolata sausage, it was quite nice, however the sausage skin was quite plastic.

I think it would match western dough, i dont know what is it with chinese dough, it dosnt seem to rise properly, and the texture is very compacted.

Overall, it tastes ok.

Earlier this year found out about this bakery through Mandalay, however I hadn’t made an effort to list it yet even I already tried it.

Thanks to Babedolphin it is now listed

On the business card for this place, it states since 1965, so being established since then, I assumed it would be listed on OpenRice. As it was not, I searched it on the net, and found out it used to be a famous bakery back then, but closed down since the owner moved to Canada.

However this new shop is opened by a Miss HK 1986 pageant May Ng with the co-operation of the baker from the previous shop.

Anyway back to bakery, there is quite a variety, from the front it looks like a high-end bakery store with cakes and expensive cookies. I got a marmalade scone and a fig bun.
When I picked up the scone it was rock hard, but I still wanted to try it, as not places have orange peel, same with the fig bun.

The scone as expected was very hard and very dry, the fig bun was ok, but only contained one piece of dried fig in the middle, the bun was quite chewy too.
The tops of both the scone and bun can be seen that a coating of egg yolk had been applied to the top before it was baked.

As the baker lived in Canada before, I was expecting some cakes to be more Western, but since he is trying to keep up the standard how it was before, it is understandable they are in Chinese style.
