This is my second visit since it opened, the Oriental orange is no longer served.
However there are a few new items such as bread and butter pudding and apple jelly.
There is a pick and mix section where you can pick any 3 desserts from their pick and mix range.
There are two prices either $11 or $13 each.
Picked six items:
Apple jelly, melon sago, bread and butter pudding.
Egg white in vanilla sauce, tofu cheese pudding, apple tart.
Apple jelly:
This is a new item that wasnt there last time, so picked it.
Although it was jelly it lacked the refreshingness of apple.
The jelly that was used was firmer and resembled konjac rather than gelatin.
It was slightly too sweet and the apple bits were too sweet as well.
Melon Sago:
This was also disappointing apart from the melon pieces!!
The sauce was basically purified mango with pieces of grapefruit in it, a blander version of "yeung ji gum lo".
In the sauce there was also bits of plastic too, and the waitor said it was odds and ends of sago?? hmm!!
Anyway, was offered another free dessert to replace it.
Bread and butter pudding:
It was piping hot drenched in alot of vanilla sauce with a few pieces of raisins on top,
Out of the above three, and for the $11 price range, this would be recommended.
Egg white in vanilla sauce:
This has kept its standards, and still tastes as good as it was before.
Fluffly eggwhite in warm vanilla sauce with slivered crunchy almonds.
tofu cheese pudding:
This was firm and not too heavy, although the tofu could not be tasted, it was quite refreshing and decorated with a piece of strawberry.
apple tart
This has also kept its standards since my last visit, flakey and delicate, not too sweet.

[Review 754] Berry juice drinks @ Panash

Panash (灣仔)
灣仔軒尼詩道253-261號依時商業大廈地下D號店
Shop D, G/F Easey Comm. Bldg, 253-261 Hennessy Rd., Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/berry-juice-drinks-panash-e2085768
Got these drinks from Panash because they are not native drinks.
There were three flavours: Sour cherry, Clear blueberry nectar, and Strawberry and apple.
These drinks are from serbia, and they all taste sour with a strong apple juice base.

[Review 753] From Jump stick to Drum stick @ 金裝燉奶佬餐廳 Daniel's Restaurant

I was quite impressed with the food served here, Tsui wah used to be my favourite, but not anymore thanks to this place.
Tsui Wah tends to be more on the local side even though it has an English menu, same here, but they have a website too!
However most of their locations are in the New territories, city ones are located here and Causeway bay.
The range of food is very extensive, covering from Pakistani curries, Vietnamese noodles, Laksa and traditional local stuffs.
The Laksa was quite nice even though its not the authentic one.
The chicken and chips was accidently stumbled upon, at the Causeway Bay branch, the dish was spelt "Jump Stick steak" which intrigued me, then at this branch it was "Drumstick steak", so I suspect it was a case of mispelling of "Drum" sounding like JUMP!!
Anyway Drumstick steak still intrigued me, how can a drumstick be a steak? or was it simply chicken thigh?
As it was a recommended item, I decided to try it. When it came, I could understand why it was called a drumstick steak.
The chicken leg was flatterned, the thigh part de-boned, and there was half a piece of bone remaining in the drum part, so it was part steak and part drumstick attached.
The chicken was grilled nicely with crispy skin, on top of it was a grilled cheese slice and a scallop on top.
The chips were the crinkle cut type, slightly overdone no my preference.
Crispy bun with salted beef (corned beef) [NO PICTURE]
This was also another one of my favourites, crispy bread like the french buns, not too crispy. The filling was salted beef and melted cheese, basically the salted beef is the chinese version of corned beef, but a more moist and softer version.
Although the bun was crunchy, it still had some chewiness to it, and the smell of yeast.
Veal cordon bleu
I felt that this was a chinese version of cordon blue/escaloupe.
It was trimmed pork chop that was sliced in the middle with cheese in between it and coated with breadcrumbs and fried.
The dish is served with pasta, rice or vegetables and chips.
There is a choice of curry sauce or tomato sauce.
I had chips and curry sauce for my pork chop.
The porkchop was nicely none, very crispy with cheese oozing out from the middle.
The vegetable was wintermelon which tasted surprisly good as a boiled side, usually it is mushy and found in soups.
The curry sauce was not what I expected, it was watery and contained onions, and very hot. The portion of curry sauce was generous, it was served in a soup bowl.
Having the sauce with rice and pasta would be good too.
I had so much sauce left, I ordered another pork chop bun to dip it in.
Pork Chop bun:
The pork chop was trimmed and the fat taken off, every bit of the pork chop was edible.

[Review 752] Tai Hing Hot Pots @ 南燒北鍋 Roast Pot

南燒北鍋 Roast Pot

G-1/F, Greatmany Centre, 109-111 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/tai-hing-hot-pots-e2085479
The name Roast Pot intrigued me, so I went to try it.
I can see how it calls themselves Roast Pot as they are a subsidiary of Tai Hing Roast, and this place mainly serves Hot pots, hence Roast Pot.
Another shop to compete with Little Fat Cow a few shops away.
Anyway, got some soy sauce chicken with BBQ roast pork.
I was expecting it to have the same standards as Tai Hing Roast, but it wasnt that good.
Ordering chicken is a gamble, it depends which part they give you.
My first impression here is obviously not that good, I got chopped up chicken wing, which is skin and bone to me.
I don't even know why they bother serving that, there is nothing to eat.
I wish I had just got only roast pork and rice, and it would have been much cheaper for $22!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the bad impression, I was left drooling at La Creperie across the road!
Luckily the BBQ roast pork saved the day, the portion was quite generous and it was lean and juicy.
The ginger and spring onion was a bit weird, the oil sauce peanut oil which spolt the ginger and spring onion aroma.
The set came with VITA's low sugar lemon tea, basically it tastes the same as the normal one.

[Review 751] Rocky Road Swiss Roll @ 聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop

Shop F, G/F, Spring Garden Mansion, 29-41 Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/rocky-road-roll-e2084720
A dreamy swiss roll filled with chocolate cream, marshmallows, and crunchy chocolate balls.
The swiss roll is slightly bigger than the normal big swiss rolls priced at $38.
In terms of price, it is definitely dearer than the local chinese bakery, however the quality is assured, at least there will not be eggshells in it.
Compared to the upper end swiss rolls, this would be classified as the economic version.
Anyway, the presentation of the swiss roll was nicely done, it was decorated with castor sugar patterns of leaves and flower shapes, almost like a Japanese sakura roll.
Taste:
The ends of the roll were slightly dry, but the centre was moist.
As with all St Honore bakeries, it has their standards, so it wouldnt taste bad, infact it tasted really good, especially the marshmallows, it melts in your mouth, and the marshmallow dosnt have a skin covering it.

[Review 750] Refreshing fruity ice @ 許留山 Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

There are two types, one served with red beans and the other served with sugar jelly.
I ordered the sugar jelly one, because most of the elements I liked such as strawberry, peach, sugar jelly, pearls.
It was presented on a bed of fruity ice, with sugar jelly, strawberry slices, peach slices, dragon eye, pearls and another scoop of fruity ice on top.
Overall, it was pleasant, not too sweet.
The pearls let the dessert down as it was hard and chewy.
I was impressed with the strawberries because they were red and ripe.
The texture of the fruity ice was slightly like sorbet, but since it contained hokkaido milk, it was not so moist, but brittle and dry.
It didnt taste that milky but there was hints of dragon eye in it.

The low sugar green tea was sweeter than claimed.
The toast was fried more like toasted.
