Came here for the green noodles.
Previously I have tried them at Ganpachi, so I thought they would taste the same.
Anyway ordered the green noodles with two extra Japanese drumettes,
noodles in soup and a mini bowl of rice.
The cold noodles didnt taste as good as the ones at Ganpachi, there was a strong eggy taste in it and it was too chewy as well.
The sauce was ok.
As for the noodles in soup, the broth was extremely salty, and rice was a bit too oily.
The drumettes tasted ok, but different to the juicy bigger ones featured in their product shot.

[Review 772] Yogurtime in Wan Chai @ Yogurtime

Yogurtime
灣仔莊士敦道60號嘉薈軒地下3號舖
Shop 3, G/F, J Residence, 60 Johnston Road , Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/yogurtime-wan-chai-e2090690
I was fascinated by Yogurtime, because of their endless choices of yoghurt flavours.
(see yogurtimehk.com)
Currently the two with quite a lot of flavours are Berrygood and Yogo.
Berrygood has pomegranate and earl grey, whilst Yogo has lychee, banana, and the sultana toppings which are unique to them.
The Wan Chai location couldn’t have opened in a better location, it is conveniently located alongside Pizza Express and Shake em Buns.
The topping are the usual, but there was Chalwa, which seems exclusive to this place.
Its appearance is like rough strands made from sesame and pulled sugar, an Israeli delight.
I was disappointed because there were no raspberries as toppings, a big no no in marketing, when you have product pictures of products that do not exist.
The day I visited, there was Taro, chocolate, vanilla and Eurotart.
Eurotart is their signature yogurt. I was very impressed with it, as with all froyo they should have some slight tartness to it, however the taste of Eurotart is close to natural yoghurt but in froyo form.
It went well with the sweetness of the Chalwa strands.
I also had Taro froyo too, something which I havent seen for froyo flavour. It was rather interesting bringing an asian touch to it.
The taro flavour was subtle, and you could still taste slight froyo too, overall I liked the Taro as well.
Yogurtime and Berrygood both tweet, however Yogurtime tweets do not seem to be as up to date as Berrygood.
Interesting flavours and its name: Angel Food Cake, Apple cheesecake, apricot, bing cherry, Black cherry, blue raspberry, bubble gum, butter brickle, caramel custard, cherry chocolate, chocolate coconut, chocolate marshmallow, chocolate mousse, cinnamon apple pie, coconut cream pie, dragons blood, egg nog, elvis special, english toffee, georgia peach, harvest apple, irish cream, island coconut, Kahla, lemon mist, macaroon over miami, maple walnut, marshmallow, mountain ripe strawberry, orange chocolate, peaches and cream, pink lemonade, pink guava, polynesian punch, pistachio, pumpkin pie, tangerine, white chocolate, white chocolate mousse, and the whole complete list, see their website!!!

[Review 771] § The Dragon roll legend begins § @ Dragon Roll

I was surprised there was only one review for this place.
Before my visit, I saw the pictures from Smashing pumpkins review, I was expecting the food to be good.
The sauces caught my attention, I got the impression the roll would be fun with so many sauces to put on it. (Fish sauce, Ketchup, sweet chili, siracha, and teryaki)
The siracha sauce was slightly different to the ones I have seen, the colour here is creamy orange, and the ones I have seen just look like chili sauce.
The fish sauce, which I thought, would be made of fish was actually mayonnaise to go with fish and chips.
The logo design and the shop were brightly coloured, matching the pubs and the partying areas of Lan Kwai Fong.
The dragon on the logo gave it that oriental finish, yet the they were not selling pancake rolls!!
From the menu, it was clear that this shop with an oriental name wasn’t chinese cuisine, yet there was no other cuisine you could quite relate it too.
Also the roll wrap was thin, chewy and soft like the mexican tortilla I had at the Taco Truck.
It was freshly made here. However the choice of fillings here were not authentic mexican.
I wouldn’t say it was turkish or indian either, as the size of the rolls here were slightly smaller and they contained guacamole.
So overall, it seems to be American with an oriental logo to match LKF, with a slight tex-mex touch to it, as most of their rolls contain guacamole.
Anyway I ordered two rolls, the Portobello mushroom roll and the kebab roll.
All the things were freshly done, the roll was freshly pressed on the iron, and the ingredients cooked on the griddle.
Portobello:
The roll was filled with sliced earthy Portobello mushroom, and lettuce, although it didn’t satisfy my hunger it tasted great. All the sauces matched the rolls.
Kebab roll:
This was slightly different to the kebabs at Ebeeneezers, the kebab was a long patty of minced beef and lamb seasoned with a fair amount of cumin.
This was also wrapped with lettuce and onions.
Overall the food here was brilliant, the only thing that I thought was over priced was their coke, it was $17 per can.

Tried the superwings cup which consists of curry glazed chicken wings,
wasabi chicken drummettes, and the hot and spicy wings.
Basically, I felt all three just tasted like the hot and spicy wings,
but with different sauces and spices added on.
The curry had curry sauce on it, and it tasted slightly sweet combined with the original hot and spicy flavour.
The wasabi one basically had herbs sprinkled on the surface, other than that, I couldn’t taste any wasabi flavouring at all.
If they had dipped the drummette in wasabi powder before coating it with flour, it probably would have had flavour.
As for the hot and spicy wings, it just tastes like the usual hot and spicy wings.
The complimentary vuvu was much bigger in size than anticipated.

[Review 769] New dishes outshone by their ordinary stuff @ 海皇粥店 Ocean Empire Food Shop

Tried the two new dishes, the crispy prawn rice roll, and the prawn congee with lobster broth, in addition to that, I also got the usual fried dough rice roll and noodles.
For the crispy prawn roll, I was expecting the prawns to be crispy.
They were not at all, infact I couldn’t find any traces of batter.
It was just the normal prawns wrapped in rice roll and cut in six pieces and topped with floss as shown in the product picture.
As for the golden prawn congee, it was nothing like the product picture.
The product picture looked like lobster bisque topped with sliced fried dough sticks and spring onion.
The name of the congee was a bit misleading, because there was no prawns, only lobster balls, which is makes it cheap, also I couldn’t taste any lobster or prawn in the congee.
So it was over priced for $30 when it had cheap lobster balls that can be found in $18-20 noodles.
Anyway, I may give it a second try, as the branch I went to may not have been educated to make them.
Overall, their normal stuff tastes better than the news dishes.

The chicken was nice and crispy.
fried rice with bacon
Towards the end, i was full already, so didnt eat much of the fried rice.
miso soup with clam and mushrom

Nice cooler for the summer. Peach yoghurt with mini dumplings at the bottom.
There is also a pineapple version too, and you can choose either crystal jelly or mini dumplings.
The yoghurt does not taste like Yakult or natural yoghurt, but the whole drink tastes a bit like the pomelo mango dessert.
