This time got the ☆French cheese dip☆and the ☆chilli and garlic dip☆.

☆French cheese☆:

Slightly smoky and strong mayonnaise taste.
It gave a slightly bitter aftertaste too.
However it wasnt the cheesy taste I was expecting, it was more like blue cheese ranch sauce.
The texture of the sauce was thick like mayonnaise.

☆Chilli garlic☆:
Very strong garlic taste, and you could see finely grounded garlic in it.
Not that spicy, it tasted like a diluted form of chili garlic sauce bought from supermarkets.

[Review 782] Lemon chicken with Spaghetti @ 意粉屋 The Spaghetti House

Previously I have had pasta cooked with lemon, it makes the whole dish very appetizing.

Carnegies in Wan Chai does pasta with zucchini and lemon, whilst California Pizza kitchen does pasta with chicken in lemon sauce.

The spaghetti house version is slightly disappointing in that it is totally sweet, and the pasta is bland.

As for the baked escargots with potato, it was slightly different to what I was expecting too.
I didnt expect to have a large clump of tinned spinach in the middle, and the Parmesan cheese powder on top made it taste like inflight meals.

[Review 781] Computerized booking system @ The Place

Food here was Ok, I was more impressed with their booking system.
Instead of handwritten bookings, they have the restaurant layout on screen and tables are already allocated, and the names and numbers are stored on their system.
The place is not bad for the Mong Kok area, at least it still feels relatively new since it opened.
The range of food is OK too, only the soy sauce chow mein was slightly too sweet.
The desserts could have been less sweet too.

[Review 780] Nice variety of choices @ 美式熱狗專門店 Just Hot Dog

JHD and PHD are both fast food restaurants, one specialising in hot dogs the other on pizza.
Not long ago, its first branch was in the industrial area of Kwun Tong, it was on my to eat list, but Kwun Tong was a bit far fetched.
JHD has proved itself by opening branches in Wan Chai and other places.

For hot dogs, there are only six choices, US relish dog, hot chilli dog, cheese, sweet grilled dog, fresh farm dog, and japanese dog.

The choices of sides are endless, there were so many I wanted to try such as the Gustuv fries (garlic fries), chicken bites, banana foster (fried cheesecake) and the salads (egg salad, bacon potato, and Waldorf).

I opted for the US Relish, although I couldnt find any relish in the listed ingredients: signature beef sauce, diced onions and herbs.

When I got it, I could only see the ketchup, french mustard, onions, I couldnt see any beef sauce or was the tomato sauce meant to be beef sauce.
All the items on the dog went well together, the crunchy onions and the french mustard.

For the side order I chose the mini potato cakes as the salad was sold out.
They were thin flat pieces. It was good they were thin because it wasnt so oily, and there was hints of black peppar in it too.

[Review 779] Shrimp roe beancurd roll

Finally found this shop and bought their famous beancurd rolls with shrimp roe.-
It was slightly different to how I imagined it to be.
I thought the beancurd roll would be soft, but it turned out to be quite chewy and hard.

While I was eating it, I didnt see much prawn roe until I got to the end.

When I was halfway through it, there was so much prawn roe rolled in the centre, shame I didnt take a picture.
The prawn roe basically tasted like the dried ones sprinkled on noodles and very fishy too.

[Review 778] Marbled taro bread @ 東海堂 Arome Bakery

The purple swirls on the bread attracted me.

Basically it was bread marbled with taro puree, before trying it, i thought it would be just coloured purple swirls.

I would of liked it if the taro was stronger and sweeter or more swirls of it.

I just felt that since it was flavoured with taro, I didnt want to put jam or anything else on it as it defeats the purpose of having flavoured bread.
The bread itself was a bit bland and dry to have on its own.

[Review 777] Another creperie? @ 金田日本料理 Kaneda Japanese Restaurant

I was not expecting to be going to Kaneda again so soon, it was a case of been there and tried that.

Walked past and saw a sweet menu serving crepes, desserts and savoury items.
I looked at the menu, I was so surprised, Kaneda being a Japanese cuisine, serving the Crepes at La Creperie.
Studying the menu further, it saids they have a branch in Shanghai, which is possible they imitated La Creperie in Shanghai, and now serving it in Hong Kong.

On my last visit, when they newly opened in Wan Chai, crepes were not available yet, only the desserts section. Ironically, it is located not far from La Creperie.

Anyway, from the menu, the crepes were 90% the same as La Creperie, even the name and ingredients used such as Roblochon cheese, organic egg, La complete, La suzette, La sextant and the history of Brittany!!!
The price was matched to La Creperie too but only slightly cheaper.

Same as my last visit, despite being the first customer there, I had to wait a while for the receptionist to call the staff upstairs and arrange a table. Same as before the staffs are not flexible at allocating preferred tables.

After browsing the menu, ordered the Sausage must (assorted sausages, cheese, french mustard, salad) and La mouselline (homemade salmon pate, spinach sauce).
I ordered the sausage must because the picture showed the sausages were not the usual boring frankfurters but one I havent tried before, and the salmon one because salmon pate sounds interesting and the green spinach sauce was appealing.

Same as La Creperie, the crepes also took a while to arrive, after waiting for half an hour the salmon one arrived.
It looked similar to the ones at La Creperie, however the spinach sauce was totally different to their product shot, apart from that there was salad, mini bowl of criss cut fries, asparagus, mushrooms and extra sauce.
The spinach sauce was different to the product picture, it was creamy white sauce with spinach pieces in it.

The restaurant was beginning to fill up that time, and the air con was turned on full blast, and it was like sitting in windy a freezer.

Anyway, the sausage crepe was yet to arrive, and with the windy air con, I had to tuck into my salmon crepe.
I started on the asparagus, and mushrooms which were both good, then I tried the crepe, despite looking very similar to La Creperie it was tasteless, the crepe was too thick, and not crispy at all.
The salmon was very bland, and the texture not like pate at all or mousse as the name sounds.

Then the sausage crepe arrived, also looking nothing like the product picture, the sausages were different. The sausages were slightly over salty.

After finishing the crepe, I wanted to have crumpets as well, but the air con was doing my head in.
Anyway ordered that as well, and chose apricot jam with it.
It was a gamble ordering the crumpets, because not sure if they could make one well, if their pancakes were so so.
The crumpets arrived dusted in icing sugar served with butter and apricot jam.
The apricot jam was orange in colour and slightly runny.

The crumpets didn’t have many capillaries as the ones I had before and the base was slightly tough, but maybe because I haven’t had it for ages, it tasted OK, however I think I am going to buy a frozen one from the supermarket and compare it to that. So far, this is the only restaurant I have tried that serves crumpets.

I think next time I will try their sweet crepes and desserts.
