I have bookmarked this place ages ago but never really made a real effort to visit this place, what’s even more surprisingly is that I always walk past it and never notice it, so it shows how it doesn’t stand out.
Today, it must have been late at night, and less people on the street, so somehow it stood out.
I bookmarked this place because of the semi transparent bowls and chopsticks they use, other than that I don’t really like to eat Udon, especially Udon in soup because it tends to be tasteless.
However I did hope for some miracle that it would taste nice like this shop in TST that is closed, the one with the shake shake black octopus udon.
Inside, the seating was quite nice, individual tables partitioned nicely, there were some nicer seats along the wall too with pretty colour changing optic lights.
Even on the bottom of the benches there was blue lighting, and the support to the table was clear acrylic pillars.
The skirting was pretty too, it was tiled with crystals and the mirror was very relaxing, patterned with bubbles.
Anyway back to the food, udon seems to be its main item on the menu.
Typically udon means its Japanese cuisine, however in this case, the outside of the shop doesn’t look very Japanese to me and its name makes it sounds like one of those China provinces.
Looking further at the menu, they do have some rather bizarre items for a Japanese restaurants.
I tend to find bizarre items in Mong Kok, most probably because the people there are more diverse and they expect all sorts of weird and wonderful combinations.
I was tempted in ordering mashed potatoes and escargot, and there were these rolls that were like Mexican tortilla rolls in Japanese style.
As for udon, there was at least ten different soup bases to choose from, the ones that stood out were: carrot, tom yum kung and bak kut teh. Considering they had tom yum kung, they should of had Laksa too!!!
I think carrot would have been nice, but I ordered bak kut teh instead.
I wish they had other noodles to choose from as well.
Apart from the noodles I also ordered stir fried clams Korean style with asparagus.
Bak Kut Teh Udon:
The soup smelt like bak kut teh, although there was a slight sour taste to it, as expected the udon was a bit tasteless.
Stir fried Clams:
The clams were quite big, however 90% of the were tightly shut, which was a nuisance opening them up.
The dish was a bit like one of those Korean clay pots with sizzling ingredients, it had mushrooms in it as well.
The taste was a mix of yellow bean sauce and ketchup with a hint of chili and slightly smokey from the stir frying process.
The asparagus was buried right at the bottom of the dish, and only the stalks was served and no asparagus tips.
Overall the food is so-so, only the decor is nice.
The chopsticks were innovative, but unpractical, it was impossible eating the noodles as they kept slipping back in the bowl and splashing soup everywhere.

Shop 315, 3/F, The Landmark, 15 Queen's Road Central, Central
۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞۞
Arrived at 3.05pm, third in the queue, after waiting for another 10 minutes, the queue behind began to grow.
Finally got seated at 3.35pm.
Ordered the savoury set for two which consists of:
Tuna and fresh mache pave
Lobster sandwich flavoured with tarragon
Premium ham with mustard seed sandwich
Norwegian smoked salmon and caviar sandwich
Lemon & raisin scones with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry jam
coffee and tea for $238
All the sandwiches were presented exquisitely and they all tasted great.
The only thing that spolt it was the jam, it had rose in it as well which made me dizzy.

[Review 788] Freezing cold environment @ 如軒車仔麵

Shop BC, G/F, 36 Jardine's Bazaar , Causeway Bay
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/freezing-cold-environment-e2095288
Along Jardine road, most of the restaurants were full with people waiting outside on a rainy day.
This one only had two customers inside and was pretty empty, apart from that, it looked new and clean, so probably their prices were slightly more expensive that the rest.
Anyway, walked in, and it was freezing, almost like a morgue.
It was so freezing, I couldn't think, and what made it worse, the staff were like loudspeakers!!
Ordered noodles and fried items.
They were cold within seconds due to the air conditioner.
The fried items were totally disgusting, firstly you could smell that it had been refried, and when you ate it, it was totally off.
The noodles were greasy and cold.
They obviously put budget into the restaurant decor and the printed matter which is obviously good quality paper, yet the food is not really up to scratch and they are also wasting money on resources such as turning on the air con too high.

[Review 787] Death by white and dark chocolate - Part 3 @ Vero Chocolates

On this visit ordered a hot white chocolate and the signature hot chocolate drink.
As the weather was hot, the chocolate layer on top had melted quickly.
Since my previous visit, they finally have a proper menu and more choices for the hot chocolate drink.
The white chocolate basically is white chocolate and yoghurt, although I was disappointed I couldn’t taste the yoghurt.
I had some sort of expectation in mind, I was thinking of those yoghurt-covered raisins at the time of ordering. I was expecting that sort of taste, the sweetness of white chocolate and some yoghurt tartness.
Anyway the first sip, was shockingly sweet! It was the sweetness that gives your throat a sting.
The whole drink was very sweet, probably equivalent to 2 white chocolate bars.
The taste reminded me of Nestle’s milky bar in liquid form and the white toberone.
Halfway through I was wondering what it would taste like adding some strong black earl grey into it.

[Review 786] Pistachio and apple yoghurt @ 星巴克咖啡 Starbucks Coffee

With the craze of Froyos, I decided to get some yogurt, but not the frozen ones this time, and not the pre-packaged ones.
The yoghurt here consists of three layers, the bottom consists of sliced apples, then yoghurt and then on top it was sprinkled with pistachio nuts.
The apple slices at the bottom were somehow cooked and preserved with a fresh colour and not rusted.
It still had a crunch to it.
As for the pistachio, it only contributed to like 0.01 of the whole serving, it may as well of been a garnishing rather than part of it.
The yoghurt which i wouldnt classify it as real yoghurt, had froyo taste.
It didnt have the slightest of tartness of cultivated yoghurts, also the texture was not even yoghurt, it was more like aired cream tasting like froyo.

The bread pudding here was surprisingly nice, soft and eggy, except there were too many raisins.
It would have been good, if they had custard or vanilla sauce to go with it.

The lasagne sheets were very al-dente with fair amounts of minced beef in between the layers, and there was creamy cheese on the top.
Beetroot salad:
This was my favourite, it was a mix of beets, red cabbage and it tasted like coleslaw with natrual sweetness of beetroot.
