Initially I wasnt going to write this review because the menu bored me.
In the end, I ordered the Spanish fried fried or so called paella from the boring menu.
It was presented nicely with lots of herbs, it was slightly spicy, and I saw bits of dried shrimps and scallions which was obviously XO sauce.
Anyway, the drinks were good.
The apple and berry fizz and the creamy ribena punch were weirdly named champagne which doesn't make sense.
The apple fizz was nice and light, and the fresh strawberries were sweet.
The creamy ribena punch was also fizzy with a creaminess to it.

[Review 971] 1000cc winter melon tea @ 水研社茶品專賣店 Drink Tea

水研社茶品專賣店 Drink Tea

Was attracted by the massive bottle, so got it.
There were three choices, I got the winter melon tea which cost $16.
I requested for a not so sweet version, but they insisted giving me full sweetness and I could dilute it if necessary, so I guess I got more than 1000cc worth, since it was too sweet, and dilution was needed.
Overall, wintermelon tasted like Pandan, it was made from wintermelon syrup and diluted infront of me.

[Review 970] Paper cardboard restaurant @ 西龍纤味 Slim Taste

西龍纤味 Slim Taste
中環士丹利街11號9樓
9/F, 11 Stanley Street, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/paper-cardboard-restaurant-e2144525
I came to this restaurant because of its interior, from seating to ceiling, it is made of corrugated cardboard.
Interestingly, 90% of the customers were female, and there were only a few guys in the whole restaurant~!
This restaurant is part of a group that owns QQ Rice, 39 degrees bakery and Peking hand noodles.
After dining here, I have finally dined in all three above.
Slim Taste used to have another branch in Sheung Wan, however the interior was not as good and unfortunately it went out of business.
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=23359
The food here is basically the same as Peking hand noodles, they all served noodles, rice and snacks.

The ganoderma lucidem mushroom rice I ordered was so delicious, it was not greasy, and it tasted like home cooked fried rice.
There was pieces of diced mushrooms and scrambled egg whites, and it was not too salty.

[Review 969] WLY hot dogs vs Denmark Bakery @ 永樂園餐廳 Wing Lok Yuen Restaurant

永樂園餐廳 Wing Lok Yuen Restaurant
中環昭隆街19 號地下
G/F, 19 Chiu Lung Street, Central

Came here to try their famous hot dogs, they are very cheap at $10, and $12 for two sausages.
I wanted compare the hot dog here and the hot dog at Denmark bakery, I was expecting the one at Denmark to taste better but I felt that the one here tastes much nicer.
Both these hotdogs are Hong Kong style hotdogs with mayonnaise.
If they had English on the menu, I would have ordered the hotdog with double sausage, and it would have tasted better too!
Overall breakdown of the hotdog:
Bun:
Fresh, warm and soft, and didn’t collapse when held.
It is a normal bun, not those horrible chinese sweet buns or the ones glazed with egg white or topped with sesame.
Sauce:
Its aroma and taste was sweet on impact, it was fairly generous and there were pieces of gherkins in it.
The taste had a vanilla base in it, it tastes like a mix of chinese mayonnaise, chopped gherkins and the famous HK condensed milk.
If I had ordered the double sausage, there would be less sweetness in it.
Sausage:
This was surprisingly good too, the sausage was grilled and the skin was wrinkly, yet inside the sausage was piping hot and soft and juicy.
The texture reminded me of a chipolata sausage, and the taste was really nice.
The sausage skin and meat was slightly separable rather unlike usual frankfurthers.
The only drawback was the sausage was too small for the bun, it was mostly eating the bun until you got to parts where the sausage was present.
Wing Lok HD vs Denmark HD
Bun: the bun at WL was much nicer, the Denmark one was too crispy for my liking.
Sauce: the sauce at WL was a winner, there was more, but not my cup of tea.
Sausage: WL was definitely the winner, because the one at Denmark was salty and chalky, the Denmark one felt like it had grounded shell in it.
Although, Chinese hot dogs are not really my cup of tea, WL is definitely a winner for the two.
I would have preferred simple ketchup and mustard.
As well as the hotdog, I also ordered chocolate tea, I wanted to ordered the instant noodles with bitter melon.
Their noodles and afternoon sets are quite pricey, prices ranging from $41+
The chocolate tea tasted nothing as nice as the real instant packaged Lipton choc tea.
It tasted like hong kong tea mixed wtih milo powder, definatley not my cup of tea, but i suppose it is slightly better than normal HK tea as I managed to drink more than one sip.

Came here to try their famous hot dogs which was very cheap at $13 with two sausages.
I wanted compare the hot dog here with the hot dog at Wing Lok, however I was expecting the one at Denmark to taste better but it didn't.
Both these hotdogs are Hong Kong style hotdogs with salad cream.
Overall breakdown of the hotdog:
Bun:
The top of the bun was crispy, and the bun tasted sweet.
Sauce:
This was the most disappointing aspect, there was virtually no sauce, it was so dry and there was no cheese.
Sausage:
This tastes like the typical hot dogs sold in the supermarket, chinese style, with a very gritty texture.

When I first saw the restaurant name, I assumed it was Vegetarian until I saw pictures from the review.
However, they serve very fine dishes under the all you can eat menu.
There was so much choice, ranging from carpaccio's, fried items, western dishes to cheese fondue.
There is also a salad bar.

Both hotdogs served at V8 and Red moment are HK style hotdogs, however at V8, you can see how overloaded with salad cream it contains, similarly the HK cafes for some weird reason like to add tomato and cucumber slices to it.
Anyway, the winner is Red moment because it contains tomato ketchup and mustard which dosnt taste so weird, also the hotdog is hot rather than cold.
