Been here numerous times, in general the food is always good.
They will feature specials every day which is not on the menu.
The special for the day was sharks fin soup at $28, before they had grilled "octopus suction cups" which was surprisingly very good, so I didn't hesitate to try the sharks fin soup.
It was slightly disappointing though because the soup for the sharks fin was very sweet rather than savoury.
As well as that ordered Japanese rice cake, which tasted like sweet potato cakes those made by villagers in HK.

[Review 980] All chinese 'chinese new year' menu @ 意粉屋 The Spaghetti House
09/02/2011
意粉屋 The Spaghetti House
將軍澳坑口重華路8號東港城160舖
Shop 160, East Point City, 8 Chung Wa Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan Ohttps://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/all-chinese-chinese-new-year-menu-e2148518
The interior of this Spaghetti house looked good, so went in for dinner.
However the promoted Chinese New Year menu was all in Chinese and put me off that I didn't even want to look at it.
Ended up ordering the sets which included asparagus soup, lasagne and rice.
The asparagus soup was very good, it contained fresh asparagus and the taste was as good as Bachelor's instant asparagus soup.
The rest of the food tasted how it should.
It would be great if there was an English menu for the seasonal set dinners!

Decided to try their a la carte items as well as the mains, tried the pumpkin and crab soup which was surprisingly nice.
In general pumpkin soup always tastes good if done nicely not with added sweeteners as the Chinese like it, it contained plenty of crabmeat.
The cheese and ham toasted sandwich was also good, but it looked different to the product shot.

[Review 978] Herbal tea replaced by Taiwanese tea @ CoCo都可茶飲 CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/herbal-tea-replaced-by-taiwanese-tea-e2148374
Previously this corner shop used to serve herbal teas and herbal eggs.
No one can escape that herbal concoction smell when you walk past.
The unnoticeable grim corner has been replaced by Coco Fresh drinks, unmissable being bright orange.
Before it opened, it stood out already but I couldn’t quite guess whether it was drinks or a froyo joint.
Finally Coco opened, so I came during its first few days of business and there was a promotion going on.
For every cup of Taiwanese tea with pearls you get a free green tea with cream on top, essentially buy one get one free.
The Taiwanese tea was only $13 so I paid $13 for two big cups of drinks at 500cc.
There were staffs from Taiwan to train the locals and a big sign promoting their current offers.
The pearl tea was ok, not too sweet, but then all Taiwanese drinks can be personalised these days with the level of sweetness and the amount of ice you want.
The green tea with the milk cap tasted ok too, except the cream was not as thick as Gong Cha, it was more like foamy milk.
The design printed on the cup is interesting, instead of volume markings, it has a Taipei building with various heights representing different volumes, although it is meaningless ie ABCD’s.
I was also surprised that they have a branch in New York too! People holding drinks with the Taipei tower printed on the cup in the big apple!

[Review 977] McDonald quality fries @ 東京便當 Tokyo Bento

東京便當 Tokyo Bento
將軍澳坑口培成路15號連理街商場110B號舖

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/mcdonald-quality-fries-e2148053
The bento boxes were Ok, but this time I tried the fries, which is slightly unusual to find in a Bento place, there was fried chicken a few shops away with fries, but I picked these fries because they are sprinkled with Perilla (Ji-So in Chinese) and these are the fries you get at McD’s.
Initially I thought they were sprinkled with seaweed, but they turned out to be Perilla (Ji-So). I have never tried it before, but in Asian cuisine they use a lot of it.
When I looked it up, it seems that Basil is also called Ji-So in Chinese, but Ji-So doesn’t taste like Basil.
Basil is mostly used in Italian dishes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perilla
The picture of Perilla is like a nettle leaf, and the reason for confusion is that Basil is Lor Lack in Chinese, and the Perilla is also called Japanese Basil, hence when I looked for Perilla, results of Basil also turned up.
Anyway, the fries were nicely fried, golden yellow and not over done, they were seasoned reasonably with salt, however I could not taste the Perilla despite there was quite a fair amount on the fries.

[Review 975] Food @ 薄餅博士 PHD

薄餅博士 PHD
將軍澳唐德街9號將軍澳中心地庫1樓B16號舖
Shop B16, B/F, Park Central, 9 Tong Tak Street, Tseung Kwan O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/phd-e2145959
Not sure if this is a subsidiary of Pizza Hut, but there is a big sign pointing to Pizza hut, however it turns out to be the PHD!
Even on my printed credit card receipt where I signed, it also said Pizza hut.
PHD is not a doctorate, but a pizza joint that specialises in pizza take-outs and deliveries.
I did not order pizza on my first visit, but rice, snacks and pudding.
I was attracted by the rice, because it was rice with tofu, cheese sauce and seafood.
Not many places put tofu and cheese together, as well as that I ordered chicken rings,
because I liked them since trying them at Pierce chicken.
The dough in porcini sauce was also ordered because they seemed interesting,
and lastly the tofu pudding was something that I wanted to try as well.
Tofu and cheese seafood rice:
This was quite a big portion, however the amount of sauce and rice was not that good, there was about 15% sauce, tofu, seafood, and the rest was rice, so there was not enough of it to go with the rice.
Chicken rings:
Tasted the same as the ones at pierce, but not so crunchy.
Dough Rolls with Porcini Sauce:
this was dissappointig and dry, it was dough rolled with onions, sweetcorn and mushroom, no sauce.
Hokkaido Milk Tofu Pudding:
This had tofu taste, the topping was slightly different to the product picture, it was cocoa powder instead of biscuit crumbs.
The texture was creamy with gelatin firmess.
