Previously visited the Mong Kok branch.
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2151238

This time walked past the TST branch, so decided to try the other set which has a chicken drummette, couldnt tell from the picture if it was a chicken drumstick or a drummette, and also the chinese didnt know what it said.
It turned out to be a chicken drumette in the end.

Although the guy from MK said the chicken drumette wasnt spicy, it turned out to be spicy.

The rest of the fried stuff tasted ok.

In comparison to the MK branch, the staff here were not as organised as the MK branch, they didnt really know their product range.
Also there was less people and the food took longer to arrive.

[Review 1006] 100 per cent Chinese cafe 100% @ 百份百餐廳 Cafe 100%

There are not many restaurants in this mall, but the first time I came here was specifically to try Cheese Pizza.
Café 100% seemed quite interesting as a first impression, so went in to try it.
After browsing the menu, found out it was part of a chain that includes: Pebbles, T.Pot and Forbidden City but I couldn’t find any of them on Openrice.
The items on the menu were nothing spectacular, although the curry “seems” good so ordered that and the signature chicken.
The price however was a bit expensive considering the food was rather boring.
The chicken was dry and tough, the soup was luke warm, and the curry was lumpy.
The staff dress code was interesting though, it was dark navy blue, the guys looked like they were car mechanics.
The chili sauce was cute though, the packaging was shaped like a chili bottle.

[Review 1005] Slightly overpriced, but the beef was nice @ 台灣牛肉麵 Taiwan Beef Noodle

I don’t usually eat beef, but the beef broth here looks strong and also they serve the new bamboo rice vermicelli.

Went during the public holidays and a tiny dish of peanuts was placed on the table, the first sentence the waitress greeted was “It is the holidays so they are compulsory”

Ordered beef shin with new bamboo rice vermicelli, and the other one with the standard noodles.

The other one arrived first, and the noodles for that were similar to Udon, but thinner, the texture was slightly al dente.
Later the beef shin noodles arrived, and with it came another dish with pickled vegetables, however they should of came with the first bowl of noodles as well.

The pickled vegetables were nice, chopped up too finely, however the portion was minuscule.

Overall the noodles were ok, the broth wasn’t as strong as I expected, but the beef was good considering I generally don’t order beef.
The beef shin had interesting layers, it was like eating layers of tender beef and tendon sandwiched together. The gelatinous looking stuff was not chewy either.

Since the soup wasn’t that strong, the noodles tasted a bit bland.

For Kowloon city, I felt that the noodles were slightly overpriced and the portions could have been bigger.

[Review 1004] Apple muffin @ McCafe

The apple muffin had a sweet smell unlike other muffins, you could actually smell the cinnamon and apple.

It was quite a large muffin, the top of the muffin was rather dry, but the taste was packed with sweetness and cinnamon.
I thought there would be pieces of apple embedded within the muffin but there were none.
I was then surprised to find apple filling in the middle of the muffin, however it was too sweet.
If the muffin weren’t so dry, then it would have been good all the way through.

[Review 1003] Egg tarts @ Kee Tsui Cake Shop @ 奇趣餅家 Kee Tsui Cake Shop

As Chinese bakery isn’t really my cup of tea, I haven’t really made an effort to try their products.
This bakery has been around for quite some time; they still have those old green tiles on the floor.
I am sure anyone who has visited that bustling market would have seen it.

There are always people surrounding that shop, it ranges from egg tarts, chicken cakes, savoury crackers, banana cakes, coconut tarts, glutinous rice cake filled with red beans, there should be something for everyone.
For westerners I would just recommend the egg tart.

Initially I wanted to try the chicken cakes with the red beancurd, but I thought they would be quite fattening, so I tried the mini egg tarts, which cost $6 for four.
The egg tarts were in a metal dish, which they use their bare hands to get the egg tart out.

The egg tarts tasted how it should, there was more pastry than filling.

Next time I will try the chicken cakes.

Along Amoy road, there are at least three Thai joints, an upstairs one, this one and Café Y Taberna.

This one is more down to earth, however the prices at Café Y Taberna are even more down to earth, yet the restaurant is more done up and they have another restaurant at Tai Hang.

The menu, design and the whole look is one of those typical Thai joints with pictures of food all over the walls.
The theme there is bright orange and the logo looked really familiar, then I realised it used to be at Spring Garden lane, where the new Nam Kee noodles stands.
However it never made me stop by before, perhaps that street is too busy for me to stop by and look at the menu.

Previous location:
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=19435

Anyway, I think the new location is better and quieter.

The items on the menu are similar to the Thai joints at Kowloon City, offering noodles, pork trotter and rice.

Ordered stewed pork trotter with rice, and fried noodles.
The noodles were very hot and spicy but without the lingering spicyness.
The pork trotter was rather dry and hard, and the sauce was too sweet.
The soup was pretty average and the drink was watered down.

Although there are some interesting items such as fried chicken fritters and instant noodle salad.
The Vietnamese sausage looks strange too on their product shots, it looks more like a Chinese wax sausage which is red/orange.

[Review 1001] Hokkaido ice cream with apple vinegar @ 匠 Mazter

It does sound weird, ice-cream with vinegar syrup, but I tried it.
Reminded me of Japanese yogurt, the yakult taste with a hint of apple.
The hokkaido ice-cream they serve there is soft serve, there are various of vinegar’s to choose from: berry, fuji apple and yuzi.
Apart from fruit vinegars on ice cream, they also sell bottles of fruit vinegars at the supermarket for people dilute with water and drink.
I also tried the half boiled egg with was very good, the inside was thick and runny, and the egg white didnt taste bland.
