The curry hotdog was a special item at MOS.
It had nice thinly sliced onions and curry sauce topped on top.
Basically it tastes the same but spicy with the curry sauce.
The sauce was thick and messy during consumption.

[Review 1055] Scrumptious snacks that all taste good @ 益昌小食店
13/04/2011
益昌小食店
大澳永安街
Wing On Street, Tai O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/scrumptious-snacks-that-all-taste-good-e2162186
Initially was attracted by the poster showing all their snacks, especially the squid with Prawn paste sauce.
Prawn paste sauce is found everywhere in Tai O, and Tai O is the only place that serves squid with it, so I just had to try it.
As well as that ordered other snacks too, silky tofu, agar with grass jelly, spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles, and imitation sharks fin soup.
The inside of the restaurant was tiled with shiny white tiles, it was slightly similar to the backstreet restaurants in Cheung Chau.
Squid with Prawn paste sauce:
This snack was nice and simple, squid drizzled with soy sauce, a few drops of oil and topped with prawn paste sauce.
I was expecting the prawn paste sauce to be saltier, however it wasnt that strong, there were bits of grounded pork too.
As well as this place, the prawn paste sauce in the and roti I had at Sun Kwong Cheung Choi Kee wasnt that strong either.
I wonder if the original recipe has been modified to adapt to the taste of modern Hongkongers.
Silky Tofu (warm):
The tofu was warm and smooth, it tasted nice with or without syrup.
Agar with Grass Jelly:
This looked interesting, agar with grass jelly, it was basically agar with cubes of grass jelly.
The taste was slightly different to what I expected, I was expecting the sweetness of agar mixed with the taste of grass jelly, but it tasted like Banana essence.
Imitation sharks fin soup:
The quality of this was amazing, the chicken in the soup was fresh, although the taste was strong of sesame oil and slightly salty, I really liked it.
They used the vegetarian version of sharksfin instead of beanthread noodles.
spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles
Same as the squid, the prawn paste sauce was slightly bland, but still the noodles were good, and the lettuce in the noodles were clean and fresh.

[Review 1054] Snacks at 7-11 @ 熱賣點 Hot Shot

熱賣點 Hot Shot 711 葵涌賢麗苑商場1號舖
Shop 1, Yin Lai Court Shopping Centre, Kwai Chung7/11 7-11 7eleven
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/snacks-at-7-11-e2162184
Surprisingly enough, the snacks at 7-11 can be quite good sometimes.
I think more 7-11 shops should be listed for reviews, since 7-11 have advertised with OpenRice about their new food products.
In the past, I have tried a lot of different snacks at 7-11, hopefully I can find pictures for the review.
Recently I tried the Salmon roll, which looks like a marshmallow, they don't usually have green items in their cooked selection.
I didnt know that it came with noodles, so for $10 it was noodles and those salmon rolls.
The salmon roll is made of the usual surimi, but just coloured to make it interesting.
The noodles were ok.
I want to try the salmon fish ball next.

[Review 1053] Cool packaging again! Gigantic matchbox biscuits @

I dont really like Chinese bakery, but Taipan Bread & Cakes have been quite creative this year, first with the chocolate bar cake and then the milk carton cake.
Now a big version of a matchbox with matchstick cookies inside!~
Basically it just tastes like normal cookies, except the brown tip part tastes of chocolate.

[Review 1052] Chicken Quesadilla @ Uncle Hiro's
08/04/2011
Uncle Hiro's
灣仔駱克道89號灣仔中匯大廈地下5號舖
Shop 5, G/F, Wanchai Central Building, 89 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/chicken-quesadilla-uncle-hiros-e2160640
A quesadilla is a flour or corn tortilla filled with a savory mixture containing cheese and other ingredients, then folded in half to form.
It is a dish that originated in Mexico and is very similar to a quesada. The word quesadilla derives from the Spanish word queso, meaning cheese.
The one served at Uncle Hiro's is a flour tortilla, and is very thin.
It reminded me of the yummy kebabs at the PFC's in London, the chicken was juicy and dripping with chicken juice.
It was very refreshing because there was lots of lemon juice put in it.
However the mozarella cheese was tasteless.
The quesadilla felt healthy because there were lots of shredded lettuce and coriander.
The food is quite expensive here, but at least they do a daily special which they didnt have earlier!

[Review 1051] Mushroom chicken burger with free apple pie @ 漢堡王 Burger King

G/F, Bank of America Tower , 12 Harcourt , Admiralty
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/mushroom-chicken-burger-with-free-apple-pie-e2160639
Burger king meals are not very filling to me, but there was a free apple pie this time.
I got the grilled chicken and mushroom burger, and as always BK’s chips are better than McD’s.
The burger was nice, but being a mushroom burger I was expecting more mushrooms.
Anyway, next time I plan to try the beef and mushroom burger.
The advantage of BK is that the tea isn’t charged extra, whereas McD’s charge an extra 5 cents for tea when changing from soft drinks to tea in the set meal.

[Review 1050] Competition coming up for Chung's dessert in HH @ 五代同糖 Five Generations Dessert

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/competition-coming-up-for-chungs-dessert-in-hh-e2160630
Wow another popular dessert place has opened in TKO!
Interestingly this place has been translated to Five guy's but the Chinese means “Five generations present together”, but anyway, most of the people working here are guys anyway.
Since my last visit at its first branch in Causeway Bay, there so are so many branches now. They are all over Hong Kong! Tsuen Wan, Hung Hom, Central etc!!
Last time I had the egg pudding, which was too sweet, this time I had it again, but didn’t mix it with the syrup at the bottom.
This dessert house has its own signature purple theme, with purple walls and sofas.
Anyway, Chung’s has a competitor now, purple vs green! The types of desserts served are actually different.
Chung’s are more chinesey, whilst Five Guys are western desserts.
