As always, the food here is always good.
It comes with a nice starter of either soup or salad and finishes off with a nice chocolate cake and drink.
The salad came with grilled chicken tikka.
The ribs that day were soft and the meat came off the ribs just like Tony Roma's.

[Review 1059] Buffalo cheese @ Saizeriya Italian Restaurant 薩莉亞意式餐廳
14/04/2011
薩莉亞意式餐廳 Saizeriya Italian Restaurant
將軍澳坑口培成路8號南豐廣場1樓R1B號舖
Shop R1B, 1/F, Nan Fung Plaza, 8 Pui Shing Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O
The menu has slightly changed at Saizeriya, the items have slightly gone up in price, but it still tastes as good as before.
Tried the buffalo cheese which was nice, pure white cheese.
The seafood paella which was not on the menu before was good too.
The only item that let the food down was the fried egg, which was overcooked, not with a sunny yolk.

[Review 1058] Taro chestnut cake @ 聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop

聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop
銅鑼灣富明街2-6號寶明大廈地下E舖
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/taro-chestnut-cake-e2162380
Got this taro cake for $13 which is considered affordable compared with other cakes priced at >$30 per cake at other prestige places such as the Pantry, Sift etc.
This cake is considered as a higher end product at Saint Honore, but the service and packaging was treated just the same as their ordinary bakery products.
Despite it was a delicate cake, there was no box provided unless two were bought, which was a bit pathetic since you are paying for an expensive cake, and the cake was stuffed in their plastic bag making it hard to carry around.
Luckily, it was still intact when I took it out.
Taro chestnut cake:
It takes the form of a round cake with a sponge base, topped with taro mousse with sponge layers inside.
The taste of the taro was so faint, but luckily it wasnt over sweet.
As for decoration there was a tiny crunchy chocolate ball on top, and chestnut paste on top.
To my surprise, I found white cream inside the chestnut paste.
Fun to eat, but didnt really taste of taro which was disappointing.
The spongecake base tasted like their usual sponge cake products

[Review 1057] Aquarian feast @ 留家廚房 Kin's Kitchen

It was really cool having dinner here and fun gathering with Aquarians and the lovely LQ.
There were so many items to choose from, in the end we had pomelo skin with dried prawn roe, fried liver, fish, lotus wrapped rice, ribs and stuffed fish, chicken.
It was the first time I tried pomelo skin, so glad I tried it. It was so different to how I imagined it to be.
The texture was like braised white carrot, and it was slightly translucent which I didnt expect because raw pomelo skin is white, like the covering of Camembert.
So somehow through the cooking process it went translucent! Magic!
The taste was amazing, it was light, and no bitter taste at all.
The fried liver was interesting too, I have never tried fried liver before, and it was liver coated in batter and fried.
The texture of the liver was very different, not the usual taste or texture I have tasted before.
The stuff fish was the most intriguing, it was an intact fish that was stuffed with fish patty, with fins, tails and head, the sauce was served separately.
Overall, I am still baffled how the fish was stuffed.

The curry hotdog was a special item at MOS.
It had nice thinly sliced onions and curry sauce topped on top.
Basically it tastes the same but spicy with the curry sauce.
The sauce was thick and messy during consumption.

[Review 1055] Scrumptious snacks that all taste good @ 益昌小食店
13/04/2011
益昌小食店
大澳永安街
Wing On Street, Tai O
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/scrumptious-snacks-that-all-taste-good-e2162186
Initially was attracted by the poster showing all their snacks, especially the squid with Prawn paste sauce.
Prawn paste sauce is found everywhere in Tai O, and Tai O is the only place that serves squid with it, so I just had to try it.
As well as that ordered other snacks too, silky tofu, agar with grass jelly, spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles, and imitation sharks fin soup.
The inside of the restaurant was tiled with shiny white tiles, it was slightly similar to the backstreet restaurants in Cheung Chau.
Squid with Prawn paste sauce:
This snack was nice and simple, squid drizzled with soy sauce, a few drops of oil and topped with prawn paste sauce.
I was expecting the prawn paste sauce to be saltier, however it wasnt that strong, there were bits of grounded pork too.
As well as this place, the prawn paste sauce in the and roti I had at Sun Kwong Cheung Choi Kee wasnt that strong either.
I wonder if the original recipe has been modified to adapt to the taste of modern Hongkongers.
Silky Tofu (warm):
The tofu was warm and smooth, it tasted nice with or without syrup.
Agar with Grass Jelly:
This looked interesting, agar with grass jelly, it was basically agar with cubes of grass jelly.
The taste was slightly different to what I expected, I was expecting the sweetness of agar mixed with the taste of grass jelly, but it tasted like Banana essence.
Imitation sharks fin soup:
The quality of this was amazing, the chicken in the soup was fresh, although the taste was strong of sesame oil and slightly salty, I really liked it.
They used the vegetarian version of sharksfin instead of beanthread noodles.
spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles
Same as the squid, the prawn paste sauce was slightly bland, but still the noodles were good, and the lettuce in the noodles were clean and fresh.

[Review 1054] Snacks at 7-11 @ 熱賣點 Hot Shot

Shop 1, Yin Lai Court Shopping Centre, Kwai Chung7/11 7-11 7eleven

Surprisingly enough, the snacks at 7-11 can be quite good sometimes.
I think more 7-11 shops should be listed for reviews, since 7-11 have advertised with OpenRice about their new food products.
In the past, I have tried a lot of different snacks at 7-11, hopefully I can find pictures for the review.
Recently I tried the Salmon roll, which looks like a marshmallow, they don't usually have green items in their cooked selection.
I didnt know that it came with noodles, so for $10 it was noodles and those salmon rolls.
The salmon roll is made of the usual surimi, but just coloured to make it interesting.
The noodles were ok.
I want to try the salmon fish ball next.
