On this second visit, I came here especially for the noodles that look like rolled up rice rolls.
It makes me curious what they look like before they are cooked.
These curly rice noodles were quite al-dente, and went well with the strong soup base..
Apparently they are pronounced “gwere” in Thai.

[Review 1102] Macau crispy buns with various of fillings @ 澳門茶餐廳 Macau Restaurant

Not really a fan of food served in restaurants Chinese style.

Macau restaurant is basically like a Chinese restaurant serving Macau style food, but I felt it was quite similar to Chinese, especially the curries, crabs, baked rice and the pricing was expensive for that style of restaurant where you need to share tables with others.

Anyway, I only tried the crispy buns, there were lots of different ones to try, from kaya to curried tuna.

I tried the one with peanut butter and condensed milk and the curry.

I forgot to ask them to leave out the butter, so I got a slab of butter on top.

I always find that weird, the slab of butter on crispy buns and pineapple buns.

Overall, the crispy bun was well done, the crust was crispy, and the inside was soft.
For the peanut butter it was coarse peanut butter, and you can see the pieces of peanut.

The savoury one tasted better, the fish was not too dry, but the curry was quite spicy.

Next time I would like to try plain kaya, without butter.

I am not really a fan of Chinese food, but decided to post this review for people who like Chinese food.
Basically it was a group dinner, so it was several courses of food.
To me they just taste like the usual chinese food, but you can judge for yourself from the pictures.
The most memorable item was probably the Abalone, big and tender with rich sauce.
I was surprised they had an English brand of water ICENI
Apart from the food, the restaurant is located outside the mall, which is slightly hard to find if haven't been to the New Territories.

[Review 1100] Strawberry tricolor @ 東海堂 Arome Bakery

Got the strawberry series for $68, it was a set of three items made from strawberry.
They looked nice, but tasted cheap and artificial.
The cake was hard and tasteless.
Only the jelly dessert was good.
Nice concept, design and packaging.

[Review 1099] Six piece deluxe sushi set for $43 @ 爭鮮外帶壽司 Sushi Take-Out

I suppose it is cheap to get a sushi set for $43 which includes Sea urchin, Salmon roe and Scallop.
I found it appealing because it was a combination of the three items that I liked.
I had the scallop sushi to start with because it had the lightest taste.
The taste was ok, not particular good or bad.
Next I had the sea urchin because the salmon roe is saltier in comparison.
The colour of the sea urchin was dull orange, and it was bitter.
This was the first time I have tried bitter sea urchin, usually it tastes sweet and creamy.

Lastly I had the cod roe, it was different to the cod roes I have had previously, the size of the roe was much smaller in diameter than the usual ones. It was roughly the size of BB guns pellets.
The colour of the roe was reddish orange, not the dark orange ones I have seen before.
The roe was all stuck together by a membrane and not loose like the ones I have seen.
The roe also had a bitter and salty taste.

Previously tried their delicious rolls and macaroons, now I am back for Froyo.

There is strawberry and original froyo served there, but every time I went it was strawberry.

Finally went on a day when the original was served.

The Froyo was thick, just like soft serve, except the taste is lighter and not as sweet as ice-cream.

There was some yoghurt taste to it, but not as tarty as Yogurtime and Crumbs.

They had new flavours to their macaroons, which were previously not available such as Baileys and white peach, so I tried the Baileys.
It was nice but I couldn’t taste any Baileys or any bitterness to it.

[Review 1097] Thank you for the excellent roast potatoes! @ 多謝幫襯 Thank You Very Much

This was also one of those shops on my to go list in Sham Shui Po.
It doesn't sell the "usual" type of food.
I think they are unique in Hong Kong, especially since they serve Pita bread stuffed with beef burgers and not kebabs.

The main items that they serve are pita breads filled with different choices of filling:
beef burger, prawn cutlet, duck breast, pork neck, fried fish filet.

I chose the beef one and got the combo which includes a choice of rice, salad, or fried potato wedges and a drink.

After ordering, I was given a letter "a" which was rather cute, it was much more memorable than those plastic coins with numbers written on it.
Due to the design or the shop and the food they served, I felt like I was at infant school playing shop keeper and customer role playing games.

Pita bread with beef burger:
This looked exactly like the product shot, the yellow sauce which I thought was cheese was actually sweet sauce.
The burger tasted really good, even better than I imagined.
I would have preferred less sauce, since it was a bit sweet.
The pita bread was the best, slightly chewy and soft and tastes better than a hamburger bun.
The whole thing feels light and healthy apart from the sauce.

Potato wedges:
Before I ordered, I saw them in the display cabinet and they looked delicious already.
Although they call them potato wedges, they are actually ROAST POTATOES to me.
The pita bread was good, but this was brilliant.
The shape of these potato wedges are actually like cubes, not wedge shaped.
The potatoes are uniformly crispy and golden on the outside, yet fluffy and soft in the centre.
It was so delicious, because it tasted like roast potatoes, but these had salt and spices sprinkled on the surface.
The only improvement is less salt, because it was slightly too salty.

Apart from that, customer service was excellent and friendly, the staff was patient with questions and answering the customer.
