Since my last visit, there has been tremendous improvements, they offer more variety and have a dinner set in the evening which is really good.
Apart from noodles, they also do grilled items such as seafood, mushrooms and other things.
The range of noodles has improved and now they have spinach noodles.
I had spinach noodles in sauce, this time there was more sauce.
I got the fried pork intestines too, a snack that I normally wouldn’t eat.
I was surprised how clean they were.
They were slightly chewy yet crispy on the outside.
It had spices sprinkled on it.

Overall, the shop is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

[Review 1118] Japanese style Western Restaurant @ Pokka Cafe

POKKA café is just one of those restaurants that has always been around.

It didn’t really appeal to me before, because the food is just similar to a combination of other western style Japanese restaurants.

Browsed the menu, it was just curries, ramens and steaks.

In the end just ordered a salmon and avocado toast and a Japanese style Korean bento containing grilled beef, soup and Korean sides.
The toast tasted how it should, however the cuts of the salmon were not that good because it contained grey bits in it.
The Korean bento was quite good, but it felt slightly Japanese with the miso soup, and the cucumber and octopus in wasabi soy sauce.
The Wasabi sauce was actually rather hot.

In general, the food was acceptable, but I felt the pricing was overpriced.

[Review 1117] Still the best soft serve in Hong Kong @ 菓匠茶屋 Kasho Chaya

As usual, the soft serve here tastes great every time, however I found the one in TST doesn’t taste as creamy and thick as the CWB branch.
I wanted to try their new drink, but it was sold out, and the next day I went it was also sold out, so I got the plain ice-cream instead.
Anyway, it still tasted good!

[Review 1116] Coffee and Bakery at Spring Garden Lane @ 酵母兵團

I really hate and love Spring Garden lane, there are so many nice eateries, but its a battle of pedestrians and cars.

Discovered the new Yogurt shop which is totally out of place, it is really done up compared to the other shops next to it.
The rest on this road are Chinese.
There is another branch of this at Shatin.

Basically this shop sell three items, pastries, coffee and froyo.
I dont drink coffee, so didnt buy coffee.
It would be good if they had a sit in area.

Anyway from the pastry counter at the front I was attracted by this [pie] looking pastry, which turns out to be an apple turnover.
I wonder if it is a Chinese version.

If you search for an Apple Turnover using Flickr or foreign Yahoo, you'll get a triangle looking puff pastry, whereas if you search for a cheese and onion pie, you'll find the one looking like the apple turnover they sell there.

In the end, I got the apple turnover, basically it was apple puree/jam inside not diced stewed apples.
The pastry was very buttery to the point you could smell and I hope it wasn't pork lard because they have a habit of using that in Chinese bakery.

It was slightly too localised for my liking.

[Review 1115] Impressive taro steamed bun @ 唐記包點 Tong Kee Bao Dim

Shop CHH15, Choi Hung MTR Station, Choi Hung

I don't usually buy Chinese steamed buns, but after reading the reviews, it said the buns were not that sweet.
These steamed buns sell like hotcakes, I wanted to get the sweet potato one as well, but it was sold out.
I managed to get the taro, which was one of the flavours I wanted to try.
The bun cost $3.5 and it was fairly big.
The color of the bun was lilac and inside it contained dark violet filling.
The bun was moist and too sweet, the filling was thick and starchy
Hopefully next time the sweet potato one isnt sold out.

[Review 1114] Chiu Jao food of Tai Hang @ 鄭記潮州食家 Cheng Kee Chiu Chow Restaurant

Anyway stumbled upon this Chiu jao joint after trying the dessert shop next door.
Ordered the fish, oyster pancake, soup and blood curds.
I felt most of the items were a bit greasy, and not my cup of tea because I am not a local.
The lanterns at the front of the shop were interesting, they are bright red with these black things looking like bats, but they probably do not represent bats.

[Review 1113] Thai style cooked fish gas bladder @ 泰妃雞 Thai

泰妃雞 Thai

In my previous review I said I was going to try this.
For $57 I got the Thai style cooked fish gas bladder.
It was served on top of a piece of lettuce.
The main ingredients in it were: beanshoots, egg pieces, chicken, fish gas bladder, yellow chives.
It reminded me of the famous chop sueys from takeaways in UK.
Chop suey is a Chinese dish consisting of meats (often chicken, fish, beef, shrimp (UK: prawns) or pork) and eggs, cooked quickly with vegetables such as bean sprouts, cabbage, and celery and bound in a starch-thickened sauce.
The dish that I got also had a light taste, it was not spicy.
The yellow chives gave the whole dish some aroma, and the egg was scrambled and cooked in such a way, they were like shreds in the dish.
The amount of fish gas bladder in the dish was quite generous too.
