I have been bored of FROYO lately, so I only get it if the FROYO tastes really good such as ROLL or the TOPPINGS are really special.

The Loganberries toppings at Yoshi Yoghurt seems good at Tuen Muen:
http://static4.openrice.com.hk/UserPhoto/photo/2/243/00F18AC238E430CB5E3B30m.jpg (photo from Yan's Review).

This shop was opened last year, but it didnt really make me go in until I found out about the Blackforest.
The Black Forest Cake Froyo is Yogurt topped with black cherries, jelly, chocolate cake, berry sauce and chocolate pieces.

The appearance didn’t look as nice as the one featured in
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2169542 review.

It would have been nice if it looked just like that yogurt in the review above, it just looks visually nice with yoghurt at the bottom and toppings on the top.

It reminds me of the yoghurt served at Smile.

Overall I found the sweetness of the yoghurt too sweet and couldn’t taste the tartness others mentioned, although I didn’t like the yoghurt I loved the toppings.

As it was a hot day, the froyo melted pretty quickly as shown on the photo, and the chocolate cake tasted really nice when it soaked up the liquid yoghurt.
If you have had chocolate sponge with custard, its taste and texture is the same as when the sponge soaks up the custard.
However the taste is even more interesting because, the chocolate cake is sweeter than the Froyo so I could finally taste the tartness in the froyo.
If it has not been for the chocolate cake, the sweetness of the froyo over powered the tartness taste in it and it would have been sickly sweet.
The other toppings were nice too especially the jelly and cherries.
I couldn’t find any berry sauce shown on the previous reviews for the Blackforest yoghurt.

[Review 1132] A Slice of pizza in Sai Kung @ Paisano's Pizzeria

After trying Slices decided to give Paisano's a try.

Slices review:
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2169456

Paisano's has opened in Sai Kung for a quite a while before Slice's but I didnt try it.

Anyway, since I tried Slices, I decided to try Paisano's as a comparision, but for authentic Italian pizza, I was recommended Pomodoro in Sai Kung by Bibini's Italian owner.

I got the Paisano slice which has olives, pepperoni, cheese and herbs.
The pizza base was slightly crispy and doughy. Not as chewy as Slices but the taste was like the Pizza's from Pizzahut.

The spinach ravioli was bland and needed salt and pepper.

[Review 1131] California dreaming awoken by "The fry up!" @ Delaney's Wanchai

When I sat down, we were allocated on the corner with the open windows, it felt like Al-fresco dining, there were some brown leaves on the table, so it reminded me of the song California Dreaming.

~~~~~~~
California Dreaming lyrics:
all the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk, on a winter's day
I'd be safe and warm. if I was in L.A
California Dreamin' on such a winter's day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway back to the food, I ordered the ultimate fry up just to wake myself up.
The fry up consists of: egg, bacon (streaky and back), fried liver, black pudding, baked beans, grilled tomato, toast, fried potato and mushrooms.

When it came, the plate and portion was massive.

I was certainly brought back from day dreaming, anyway the food was good, only slightly too greasy.
The roast potatoes were the usual potatoes from the carvery but fried.
The bacon was too dry.

Anyway, I prefer the fry ups at The flying pan.

[Review 1130] Slices and more slices please @ Slices Pizzeria

13/05/2011

Slices Pizzeria
銅鑼灣禮頓道128號舖
Shop 128, Leighton Road, Causeway Bay

Slices turned out to be quite good, it was what I was expecting, the tomato sauce in the pizza tasted like the tomato sauce I was expecting, not the sweet ones..
The cheese was also good, not the tasteless mozarella that the Chinese people use.

The pizza base was chewy, the only thing I didnt like was the cheese was overcooked.

I think I must have went the wrong time, cos most of the cheese on the pizzas were over done.
I wanted to try the four cheese, but since it was burnt, I opted for the margherita.

The margherita has fresh leaves of basil in it.
Whilst I was there, there was fresh sprigs of basil being prepared.
They also had extra dried herbs to condiment the pizza.

Next I am going to try Deli Deli, and other Italian restaurants.

It would be really cool if they did a promotion like a $2 discount at YOGO after eating pizza at SLICES as they own that too~

[Review 1129] Steamed chinese buns takeaway @ 包點皇 Bao Dim King

包點皇 Bao Dim King

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/steamed-chinese-buns-takeaway-e2169455

I am not a fan of Chinese food, but since I tried "Tong Gay Bau dim" for the sweet steamed buns, I might as well try this one.

They are famous for the pork and vegetable bun, and potstickers, but my instincts told me to get the picked vegetable and meat bun.

Anyway, I got the pork vegetable bun, potstickers, steamed pumpkin bun with purple rice, and the lotus leaf wrapped glutinous rice.

Pumpkin and purple rice sweet bun:
The filling inside was pumpkin and the steamed bun was mixed with purple rice.
The filling was at the right sweetness level, and the taste was a mix of pumpkin, shredded coconut and custard.
It tasted like a custard bun and a chicken tail bun mixed together.

Potstickers:
Probably the largest size in Hong Kong!
About 7cm in length and 4.5cm in width!!
The filling inside was pork and cabbage.
The dumpling pastry was very thick, about 3mm.
The vinegar was definitely needed to make it more appetising.

Pork and Vegetable bun:
This had the familiar taste of the usual Chinese steamed buns because of the GINGER!!
I think next time I will get the spicy cabbage as it doesnt have ginger taste.

[Review 1128] Second time for Brunch @ The Lounge (香港JW萬豪酒店) (JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong )

The Lounge (香港JW萬豪酒店)  (JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong )

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/2nd-time-at-the-lounge-e2168466

As always the food is always flawless at J Marriott’s Lounge.
This was my second visit, hence I was better prepared.
The problem is, the food is excellent from salad to desserts, so save some space for dessert.
Last time I came, there wasn’t Abalone sashimi, but this time it was available, the abalone came in slices, and it tasted great on its own without sauce. It was very sweet.
The fruit juices were refillable.
Most importantly to finish of a good buffet is to drink a good tea or coffee.
I didn’t realised there was a whole book of choices for tea, there are some which you need to pay extra, but the complimentary tea’s and coffee’s are already superior enough.
I tried the Wife cake, which I previously didn’t and that tasted nice coming from someone who does not really favour Chinese food.
Throughout the meal, there were other delicacies brought to your table such as scrambled egg with truffle and potato cakes, and grilled tomato.

[Review 1127] Pancakes @ The Flying Pan

Been here numerous times and have tried the nearly everything except the pancakes.

The soup is a new item that wasnt there last time.

Anyway this time ordered the scrambled eggs with chicken patty, grits, tomato soup and pancakes.

For the tomato soup, it was very natrual, there are real bits of tomato in it.
It was quite funny because it was supplied with a chinese ceramic spoon.

As for the pancake, it was really nice too, soft and light.

However I think next time I will ask for it without the butter.
