Made the mistake of getting chicken from here again!

I got two pieces of chicken drumsticks for $20, they were quite big considering the price tag stated they were small chicken drumsticks.
The price tag didnt state 2 for $20 so I just assumed it was $20 for one.
The other chicken product on the left of it was interesting too labelled "chicken outlet de royale".

When I paid for it using a $20 dollar note, she gave me $1 change, so I assumed it was some special discount, then she realised she made a blunder and asked for it back.

They were dry and hard, and the taste was weird. It was sweet and had that Chinese spice smell.
The coating of the chicken was very floury and made the chicken taste horrible.
The real thing was darker than the display.

[Review 1190] Mint mocha frappuccino @ McCafe 麥當勞 McDonald's

When I came, they must have been doing some cleaning because I could smell milk that had gone off, it was rather sickening.
Anyway ordered the mint mocha frappuccino.
I was looking forward to it, but then saw that it was made with MONIN's syrup, it took the magic away.
It seems the whole world is using this to make drinks such Burger King, Kami Teapresso and now McD's.
The taste of coffee in the drink was quite strong, the colour was dark brown, the frappuccinos I have had in the past were not so strong.
The mint taste was quite faint too.

[Review 1189] Nice place for dining but service was rude @ Assaggio Trattoria Italiana

Situated at the art centres, it has a nice view over looking the sea, you can choose Al-fresco dining or sit inside.

The thing I was most impressed about was their digital menu and ordering system.
It was really good because it contained pictures and information of the dishes, and an ordering list on what you have ordered.

When I sat down, I was given a normal menu, the staff briefly said something was not available which I assumed to be updated on their hi-tech ipad.
Anyway, after browsing their digital menu, I ordered four items and passed the digital menu back to the waiter and he said “I told you that item wasn’t available, how could you forget”.
I felt that was a bit rude.

I wanted to get the grilled chicken with mustard, chili and lemon juice but I got the pizza instead.
So I ordered the Buccatini Amatriciana, Tartufo pizza and Spuma di yogurt e anice con coulis di fragola e meringhe.
Buccatini Amatriciana was hollow spaghetti cooked with pork cheek, onion in light tomato sauce.

After ordering, I was served some bread, which came with vinegar and olive oil.

Next the pizza and buccatini came.

Buccatini amatriciana:
This was so different to the menu description, instead of pork cheek it was fatty bacon, and the pasta was really oily.

Tartufo pizza:
This was pizza with truffle, tomato, mozzarella and fontina cheese and raw spinach leaves.
It looked nice and the truffle slices were big, but the whole pizza was tasteless.

Tartufo pizza
After finishing the mains, the same waitor who accused me of being forgetful that an item he said was unavailable asked me if I wanted to order dessert was also forgetful himself because I had already ordered dessert, so I said I already ordered dessert and he said “oh yea”.

Anyway the dessert I ordered was anise flavoured yogurt foam with strawberry coulis and meringue.
It was quite a nice dessert however I found it too creamy and bitter lacking yoghurt taste.

[Review 1188] Dined here before the groupon mania @ PizzaExpress

Even though I knew there was an offer on groupon for Pizza Express I did not get it.
Anyway, dined here before the the groupon offer started.
Pizza Express has always been good for Pizza and I always have it in the UK.

Ordered a pizza, pasta and a dessert.
For the pizza base there are two types, in the UK I usually have the thinnest one (Romana), however in Hong Kong they advised on the classic pizza base, so I had that.

Farfalle con Salsiccia
This was Italian sausage crumbled with bow-shaped pasta, cooked in white wine, rosemary, cream and chilli, finished
with grana padano cheese.
Although it looked really creamy it was not, and the cheese was really nice.

Sloppy Giuseppe pizza:
Hot spiced beef with red onions and green peppers.
Overall this pizza tasted really nice, but I really regretted not getting the romana base, the same one as I had in the UK.
Although the classic base is thin, it is not as thin as the Romana one.
The beef was finely grounded and evenly distributed on the pizza and the spicyness was just right.

Fig Tart
This was soft almond tart baked with figs served warm with a spoon of mascarpone.
There was also ice-cream instead of mascarpone but I felt that ice-cream was sweet so I stuck with mascarpone.
The mascarpone was a really good match with the tart because it was dense and creamy a bit like clotted cream.
To be honest the fig tart looked more like a buttery cake with plums in it because the fruit did not look like fig at all.
I really liked this tart.

Tried the new Saku Saku chicken burger with lemon sauce.

The chicken filet in the burger was crisp and juicy drizzled with lemon sauce.

The coating of the chicken had some black pepper which could be seen.

It tasted really similar to Cantonese lemon chicken.
It was basically the same as the grilled chicken burger with orange and black pepper sauce.

As well as that I got the lemon and honey konjac drink, however from labelling it said it came from Taiwan which was unexpected, I assumed all MOS products to came from Japan.

[Review 1186] Un autre choix pour les crêpes françaises @ Kramp House

I was browsing newly listed restaurants on OpenRice and found this one.

Kramp House caught my attention.

Kramp House sounded interesting. I didnt know what to expect, but KRAMP sounded like Cramp, so I was wondering if the restaurant was small and cramped but actually they probably chose the name because Krampouz is a famous manufacturer for crepe and waffle making machinery in France.

I wondered if their machinery was also from Krampouz.

Anyway, it was listed as a French restaurant on OpenRice, but after searching it on the internet, found out they served French Crepes.

There are now two Creperie restaurants in Wan Chai, and this one is closer in distance to Alliance Francais.

Apart from this restaurant, there is another newly opened restaurant called Madam Sixty Ate (headed by an Aussie and an English chef) at J senses which was also tempting to go, but I opted to go to this one.

It is located on Ship Street where Shakembuns used to be, I was actually quite surprised it had closed down, there is only one branch remaining in Central.

Anyway, the decor of that restaurant matched that street and it was very modern, however the name and design of the logo made me feel like I was in Belgium.

The restaurant had a simplistic modern colour theme, red, black, white and silver, the tables were red, and chairs were silver.

The menu was red with black and white fonts and the menu cover had their logo on it.

The chairs were actually solid metal!

Anyway be prepared for the icy coldness of the metal chairs, If you are wearing thin material, short skirt/shorts you will feel the icy coldness of the metal chair on your skin!
It takes a few seconds to get accustomed to it!
It reminded me of jumping in icy cold water and the coldness passing from the lower limbs to the upper body!

Foodwise, this place serves savoury crepes, sweet crepes and waffles.

On weekdays they have set lunches like La Creperie and on weekends it is A la Carte, but there are more choice for A la Carte.
The pricing is slightly cheaper than La Creperie.

At La Creperie it felt like a local town in France, and the restaurant was more masculine, however Kramp house had more French femininity to it but it felt more like Belgium.

I ordered four crepes two savoury and two sweet ones.
Le complete, Le Poulet, Le Tatin and Le Tartine

******************************
Le complete:

This was simply cheese, ham, egg.
It was simple and delicious, however I cant compare it to La Creperie because I havent had their version of le complete.
The crepe was crisp and slightly soft in the centre, the egg yolk was good for dipping the crisp parts of the crepe.
The crepe was topped with fresh chives and the cheese inside this crepe was just melted and I loved that texture.
The ham was wafer thin, it was pale think but it was delicious, not too salty.
******************************
Le Poulet:

This crepe contained chicken, mushrooms, parsley. creme fraiche, garlic and cheese.
This was also nice, it was creamy, the chicken that was used was white meat, and the mushrooms were button mushrooms.
******************************
Le Tatin:

This was a sweet crepe filled with stewed apple, creme fraiche and sprinkled with cinnamon.
The sweetness of the apple was just right, the apple was apple puree.

******************************
Le Tartine:

Tartine with fig jam
This was also a sweet crepe with a choice of jam, so I chose Fig, it was quite sweet.
******************************

All crepes were folded into a square and served on a rectangular plate.
The crepes arrived quite fast and they did not arrive one by one.
I cant wait to come again for more crepes!

Je voudrais délicieux crêpe à bientôt!

[Review 1185] Chinese fusion style ramen @ 八哥拉麵

The name of this restaurant is definitely Chinese and the menu does state that it is fusion, so don't expect Japanese style ramen.
It is quite interesting how they have used ramen in a baked dish, the signature item of a chinese cafe.
Although I didnt try it, I wonder how it would taste.
Anyway I just got the ramen in soup, the soup was made from stock powder and the noodles were the usual Ajisen type.
