I havent been to La Creperie in ages so decided to give it a revisit because there were two new crepes on the menu, La boudinée and La Roquefort.

The lift that previously did not work was now working, and it was really nice with crushed sparkling glass pieces on the surface of the lift and fitted with mirrors.

It happened to be a thursday, the day they serve mussels and chips, it was tempting to get the mussels but I stuck to my original plan and ordered the crepes.

I chose to have La Roquefort served first because La boudinee was slighty sweet.

La boudinée:black pudding. stewed apple, salted caramel, sweet crepe
La Roquefort:minced beef, blue cheese sauce, tomato slices, salad
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
La Roquefort:
On my previous visits, the crepes were much smaller and two were not quite enough for me, however they were much bigger this time.
The roquefort was filled with minced beef and cheese, the blue cheese sauce was very strong, it was slightly bitter.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
La boudinée:
This was made from black pudding, and I love black pudding.
In the crepe it was different to the british type where it contains bits of fat, barley. The black pudding here was more like a pate.
There were sweet stewed apples in it. Basically this crepe is the same as the La sextant but with black pudding!
Anyway my favourite crepe so far, because I am blood thirsty.
It is similar to the Flipino dish Pork Dinuguan with pork blood.
I think next time I will ask for the caramel to be put on the side, because the apples are already sweet.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nice cutlery with interesting signs
Maybe only vampire hunters can understand it?

[Review 1210] P-a-s-t-a M-i-o will make my day any day @ Pasta Mio

I love gnocchi and ravioli so when I saw the reviews here I just had to try it out.
In the earlier reviews there were no seating but now there are tables outside the shop.

The last time I had lovely gnocchi and ravioli was at La Piazzetta in Wan Chai.
Review at La Piazzetta featuring gnocchi and tortellini:
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2149877

There is a similar joint like Pasta Mio called Deli Deli at Fortress Hill too which reminds me of New York, but Deli Deli seems more Japanese and Chinese because it serves sweet red bean pizza and oolong tea, adapted more for locals.

The pasta at this place was so tempting I couldn’t wait until winter because I love having a lovely box of hot pasta in the cold.
I prepared myself for the heat and sweat.
It was sweltering that day when I had the pasta.

I checked their website earlier and RETTANGOLI (Salmon-Dill ravioli) was the one I most wanted to try.
But when I got there, they had changed the menu and this one had been discontinued, but Gnocchi and other filled pastas were available. I wish I came here earlier because Salmon and dill as a filling in ravioli sounds yummy.

Pasta Mio is located near the long escalators on the corner. It is bright red, and the logo looks like an O sliced horizontally at the centre with the name in the middle, the sliced halves of the O is made of lines that represent pasta and the colour is dark corn.

The logo resembles Café O, but Café O has the name on top and the big O at the bottom.

It has big glass windows clearly displaying the different pastas available, each of them are labelled.
There is a glass display with cakes because they have a cake shop in Sheung Wan called Sprinkles, so I would expect their cakes to taste nice if they have a cake shop.

The walls of Pasta Mio are grey which matches nicely with their colour theme.

Anyway I sat down and had a look at their menu. At first it can be confusing, but basically you choose the type of pasta first, then the sauce, and then the size.

The pastas they have are:
Farfelle, Fusilli, Gnocchi, Penne (plain/wholewheat).
In the premium pastas range it includes filled pastas such as tortelloni, the choices are Spaghetti, Tagliatelle, Fiocchi (filled with smoked ham and fontana cheese), Tortelloni (spinach and ricotta cheese) and Tortellacci Toscani (filled with Casatella, Ricotta & Parmesan).

The sauces they had were:
Pomodoro (Tomato + Basil)
Arrabbiata (Tomato + Chilli)
Chicken (Tomato + Rosemary Chicken)
Bolognese (Tomato + Beef + Pork)
Melanzana (Tomato + Grilled Eggplant + Provolone Cheese)
Amatriciana (Tomato + Bacon)
Boscaiola (Tomato + Cream + Ham + Mushroom)
Carbonara (Cream + Egg + Bacon)
Four Cheese (Cream + Cheese)
J. Pesto (Basil + Pine Nuts + Olive Oil + Parmesan)

In the end I chose gnocchi with four cheese to compare it with La Piazzetta and Tortellacci Toscani with chicken and rosemary sauce and the size I chose was FIT (the smallest) so I could try both.
The pastas came fairly quickly.
Even though it was sweltering the pasta was so delicious the heat didn’t reduce my appetite.
Gnocchi with four cheeses sauce:

It looked similar to La Piazzetta, but the portion was slightly bigger.
The cheese sauce was quite runny and hot, but it was really nice and not sickly.
On top the gnocchi was powdered cheese too.
The gnocchi texture is similar to the chinese sweet dumplings and Shanghai new year cakes, but the texture of the gnocchi was not all consistent, some where harder or softer than others.
Although it wasn’t consistent it was nice having a variety of textures.
Gnocchi is made of potato and flour and its size and appearance is a bit like a chinese beard candy with ridges on the top.

Tortellaci Toscani with chicken and rosemary sauce:
The base of this sauce was tomato, and there were generous pieces of chicken. The chicken was really tender and fresh. Usually I do not eat the meat, but I ate all the chicken in this.
The Tortellaci was generous but some of it was stuck together.
The filling inside the tortellaci was ricotta, parmesan and casatella.
Casatella is a soft fresh rindless cows’ milk cheese from Lombardy
But anyway I loved it I could have had more, the cheese filling was really strong, I am glad I had this instead of the spinach and cheese filling.

To finish it off I had a tiny cupcake, which came with the set. It was really cute especially the box because the size of the box is about half the height of a coke can.
It was expected to taste good, because their cake range looked professional.
The pricing may be pricey, but its really good, and I cant wait till the summer goes and I really hope the RETTANGOLI (Salmon-Dill ravioli) will be back one day!
Next time, I will be back for the baked Macaroni and cheese.
I am so fed up with the fake macaroni and cheese inspired dishes that are just made with cream.

For health conscious people, they have a calories table on their menu, so you can see how much calories your pasta is because they have given an estimate for different pastas they do paired with the sauces.

[Review 1209] Bailey's cream habiccino @ HABITŪ caffè

Sounded luxurious so got it. I think the most expensive frappuccino since the one I had at Pascucci.

Anyway, the cute guy at the till was probably more tipsy than me, I gave him $52 which was the cost of the drink, then he gave me the receipt back with the $52.

A free drink?? But I just took the receipt!

The drink was light beige in colour, the bailey's was very faint, but I could taste banana in it.
I only drank a third of that and gave it to someone else.
I am not sure how much Bailey's was in that, but I ended up looking like a beetroot.
Thinking back, the guy at the till was a bit tipsy so it is possible he put double the require amount of Baileys in the frap!

Originally went in to try the ice shaken lemon tea, but end up getting the new Peanut mocha.

There were two drinks in the Peanut series, the Peanut mocha and Peanut chocolate chip cream.
If I had saw the other chocolate chip cream poster, I would have ordered that because I am not fond of coffee, but I got the Peanut mocha for the fun of it.

The Peanut mocha contains: Mocha sauce, peanut syrup, Starbucks coffee, topped with whipped cream and caramel peanut drizzle and the Peanut chocolate chip cream contains Mocha sauce, peanut syrup, chocolate chip, topped with whipped cream and caramel peanut drizzle.

When I got my Peanut mocha, I felt I had made the right choice, the coffee wasn’t as that strong, but the bitterness of it balanced out the sweetness of the peanut syrup.
In this case, the Monin’s peanut syrup worked, some of their syrups taste nice and some don’t.

Couldn’t decide whether to get the hot or the iced green tea so ended up getting both.

It was more expensive getting the drinks a la carte than paying extra money when ordering set meals.
But anyway, I wasn’t hungry so I just got the drinks.

Both the cold and hot version cost $20 per cup.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hot green tea
The smell and taste was bitter, it reminded me of DRIED FISH FOOD, the stuff you feed fish with!!!
The smell and taste was really strong. The milk in the green tea was not creamy.
The foamy hot chocolate at MOS tastes better than the green tea.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Iced green tea
This was sweeter than the hot version and powdery.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Overall, the iced version was better.

[Review 1206] Ebeneezer's has slightly changed @ Ebeneezer's Kebabs & Pizzeria

Havent been here for a while, but the people and management have changed quite alot.

The staff are different and the menu prices have gone up, it used to be around $40 per meal including drinks, now it costs $45.

They now have one Chinese staff there, probably to deal with local orders.

Anyway, it makes no difference to me as long as they can speak English.

Got a chicken curry, it still tastes as good as before.

[Review 1205] King of the purple minded pasta, worth da wait @ Purplemind Cafe

Most of the reviews here are on coffee, but as I do not drink coffee, I tried their pastas.

It costs around $48-$60 per dish, and caters for vegetarians too with vegetarian version of meat.
I wanted to order the vegetarian pastas but it cost more than the meat ones.
Anyway their non-vegetarian pastas range was brilliant as well.

ALL of their pasta dishes were al-dente and the chef carefully laid the pasta on the dish neatly and garnished it with herbs.
For all of the pasta dishes you can choose the type pasta you prefer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

Stir fried bolognaise fettuccini:
The fettuccine was al-dente, the width of the fettuccine was nearing parpardelle pasta.
The fettuccine was stir-fried in the bolognaise sauce which contained finely diced onions and green peppers. The diced onions and green peppers was cooked just right, it was still crisp.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Spicy prawn and basil pasta:
The prawns in this were really fresh and not the frozen ones.
The spicyness level was just right, not too spicy, but enough to agree that it was spicy.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

Linguine with stir fried clams and black pepper:
This was also good, it was virtually non oily.
The clams were fresh, but perhaps the black pepper was slightly too strong and dominated the taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Linguine with stir fried clams and garlic:
This tasted even better than the one with the black pepper.
The clams were fresh.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

Cheese and tomato toast:
This was really nice, it reminded me of using grated cheese on bread and grilling it. The tomato went well with the cheese because the cheese was not the processed type.
However I would of preferred the toast not so burnt just like the ones served in the previous food reviews.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

Beetroot juice:
This was a mix of beetroot, apple, pineapple and honey.
The proportions of apple and pineapple were well balanced that the sourness of the apple and pineapple did not over power the beetroot.
When it was served, there was lovely frothy foam on the top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
This cafe is good for dog lover, there are so many pet pictures plastered on the walls and cute dogs at the cafe too.
I have been there a few times and only seen one cat, it would be good if there were more cats too, because the logo of the restaurant features a cat.
