The name of this place sounded interesting like a cherry on a fairy cake, so tried their froyo.

It is self service with six flavours.

The six flavours that day were original, vanilla, strawberry, sesame, chocolate and kiwi.
So I tried all of them except KIWI and SESAME.

The one I liked the best was Vanilla, softer than softserve and not so creamy.
The rest were icy and tasted like Yakult.
The chocolate was not that strong.

The choice of toppings were OK, however the cherry had that fake taste which I havent had in ages.
It tastes like Cherryade and cough syrup, nothing like Glacier cherries.

[Review 1221] Blue House Restaurant opposite the blue house @ 藍屋餐廳 Blue House Restaurant

Discovered this restaurant on OpenRice because of its name.

It is situated opposite the blue house on the historic street of Wan Chai.

It is blue outside, and looks slightly like the Macau restaurant, however when you enter the restaurant, there is blue lighting on the ceiling, it takes a while for your eyes to get accustomed to it.

Anyway, the reflections of the blue lighting were everywhere, I couldn't resist taking pictures of them.

Tried the tea set that was served from 2-30-6-30pm, it was quite generous because most places only serve tea until 5pm.

The range was quite interesting, but quite expensive because for that price you can get a Chinese lunch.

The full price dishes cost around $60+

I got the stir fried cambodian noodles which resembled stir-fried beef flat noodles.
It tasted quite nice because the noodles are thinner and less oily, however it was slightly too sweet.
There was stewed pork knuckles soup noodles which I wanted to try, maybe next time.

[Review 1220] New Shake to put your health into shape @ New Shake

Walked past and assumed it was another Taiwanese beverage but then realised they were health drinks with jars of powder at the counter.
They also sell pre-packaged sachets for people to consume at their own leisure.

Basically there are four flavours: peach, fruit, hawthorn berry and vegetable.

The drink claims to help bowel movement in eight hours, but my bowel movement is more frequent than others so it is biased for me to comment.
However it is not advised for people with diarhea symptoms to try.

The vegetable one tasted the best, the drink was similar to those wheat germ drinks.

[Review 1219] Finally tried the Fish Maw @ 萬豪咖啡室 Marriott Cafe

Apart from The Lounge at JW’s I have always wanted to try Marriot Café.
Marriot Café is slightly cheaper than The Lounge, however the range at Marriot Café is more Chinese.
The environment is noisier than The Lounge, which is expected, because there are more locals there for Chinese cuisine.
The carvery had chicken, which was good for people who do not eat beef.
The chicken tasted like Tandoori chicken and there were about eight different sauces. The green one (mustard with tarragon) was the best.

The abalone and fish maw tasted how it should, but theses days they can be bought cheaply at the supermarket, but it is a matter of cooking it.
Refills of food and drink were faster here than The Lounge, however the choice of drinks that were included were not as good as The Lounge.

It would be cool if they had a super expensive buffet which has all the highlights of JW such as caviar, lobster, abalone and fishmaw.

[Review 1218] The Noodle Party @ Wing Kee Noodle 榮記粉麵 (灣仔)

Wing Kee Noodles are really famous in Causeway Bay on Sugar Street and this is their second shop on Tin Lok Lane which is a stretch that divides CWB and Wan Chai.
Unfortunately this branch didn't survive but then it is hard for any joint to survive in this stretch because it is not that convenient.

This time got the one with all the items thrown in, I was able to try the chicken wing tips.

They were quite slippery to pick up with the chopsticks, but overall it was really nice, but a bit too fatty for my liking since it is just chicken skin.

The bowl of noodles contained pig skin, bloodcurd cubes, porkballs, radish, ox stomach.

Balencia bread that is similar to Bo-logne

Last time wanted to get this bread here, but I didnt realise it was not part of the restaurant.

Anyway, the bread looks similar to the one at bologne, especially the crust.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It is natrually sweet and tastes better after toasting.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The chocolate and cinnamon toast tasted too sweet, but the cinnamon powder was very strong.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The mochi donuts had two flavours: custard and chocolate.
The custard one tasted better and not too sweet.
The chocolate was one too strong.
Basically it was a mochi fried like a donut.

[Review 1216] Another ramen shop in Wan Chai @ 山川拉麵館

12/07/2011

山川拉麵館
灣仔廈門街7-17號百旺都中心地下B舖
Shop b, G/F, Hundred City Centre, 7-11 Amoy Street, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/another-ramen-shop-in-wan-chai-e2181104

This noodle joint is located on Amoy Street, an alleyway in Wan Chai between Queen's road East and Johnston Road.
Previously this joint used to be 波記車仔撈麵 a small noodle shop that seated about 10 people.
It can now sit more people probably about 14 with tables closely packed to each other.

The inside has been decorated nicely with a hint of Japanese style.
The style of the food here is roughly the same as before, featuring noodles and grilled items but now serving Ramen noodles.
Each table was laid with simple tablecloth, and laid with a bamboo mat, black chopsticks and spoon, and basic condiments.

This is the second ramen shop to open in Wanchai, after the opening of 幸亭拉麵 which is seated outside.

Although both these joints do not serve the thin noodles like butao, this one is much cheaper, but the soup at 幸亭拉麵 is better.
It costs $38 for a bowl of noodles with a choice of pork bone broth or miso broth, and a choice of udon or ramen.

The presentation of the noodles on the menu is similar to Ajisen served with meat, shittaake mushrooms, bonito flakes, sweetcorn, bamboo shoots, sesame, enoki mushrooms, and the pink and white slice.

The ordering sheet is a piece of paper with choices to tick split up into three parts, noodles, grilled items and drinks.
It has English and Chinese.
As they have newly opened, all noodles come with green tea which costs $5 a la carte.
I didn’t try the grilled fish, but the staff said it was about 30cm in length, which was true from the picture of one that was eaten by someone else.

Overall, I felt this was a localised version of Ramen. The price of the noodles was very reasonable at $38 per bowl.
