My second visit and I still have not tried their pizzas yet.

I came here especially for the chicken because the reviewers say that it tastes better than KFC!

I tried the following items:
Chicken drummettes with buffulo sauce
Fried chicken
Chicken nuggets

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Chicken drummettes with buffalo sauce:
These were slightly dry and tough.
The meat was firmly attached to the bone.
Apart from buffalo sauce there were other sauces to choose from.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Fried chicken:
This was the best amongst the three, I felt it was better than KFC too.
It is not as heavily flavoured as KFC, but flavoured enough and the amount of MSG is less than KFC because you do not feel immediately thirsty.
On the coating, you can see some dark spices.
As for the texture of the chicken, it was so moist and juicy. The texture of the chicken was incredibly soft like cotton.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Chicken nuggets:
The chicken nuggets are not shaped like the nuggets found in McD's, but they are pieces of chicken dipped in light batter, the same as the ones served at Saizeriya.
The chicken meat used was thigh meat so it was nice and tender.
It came with tomato sauce, but it was not Heinz ketchup, I found the ketchup to be slightly too sweet.

[Review 1374] Ostrich Pie @ 批&撻專門店 Pie & Tart Specialists

I had forgotten about the Ostrich pie at Pie & Tart Specialists because in my memory all I can remember is the strong butter smell when I walk past Pie and Tart specialists.

Their pastries are very localised made with the typical buttery pastry and sweet fillings that are meant to be savory such as the curry beef pie.

The only item that I like here is the Ostrich pie, it is topped with poppy seeds and there are chunks of ostrich meat inside it.
Although it was a savoury pie, the gravy was quite sweet, and there was so much black pepper in it the sweetness and the black pepper complemented each other nicely.
As for the curry beef it was too sweet.

[Review 1373] Take your soul away with a lime soda @ Lime Soul

Walking into this food court, I was immediately attracted by this Thai joint, it was done up the best amongst the rest and stood out.
At first it didn’t look Thai, but when I looked closer I realised it was Thai.

The restaurant name in Chinese is interesting, a direct translation of Lime Soul with the pronunciation similar to “soul” in Chinese.

I ordered a Lime soda and stir-fried vermicelli with salted pork.

The lime soda was the best, it was sugarfree and it tasted like fresh lime juice with carbonated water added to it.

The vermicelli could have been better, it was slightly too greasy and I couldn’t find the salted pork anywhere in the noodles so I am not sure if they gave me the wrong one.

[Review 1372] One stop noodle for $11 @ 佳豐粉麵店

Stopped by this little joint for noodles, however its ordering system is different.

It was similar to ordering noodles in Sai Kung, however the noodles at Sai Kung are much pricier and they will take the noodles to your seat after you have ordered and paid.

At this restaurant, you order what you want, pay for it and then YOU collect your bowl of noodles and find a place to sit down.

I was not keen eating beef organs so I just chose fried luncheon meat.

The noodles were not the ones I were expecting, they were the springy type noodles found in wonton noodles.
But quite reasonable for $11.

After trying the Thai sausage at Thai hut I decided to try the one here.

The one here was too dry and not as flavourful as Thai Hut.
There was less noodles in the sausage and the sausage was chewy.

Not a fan of Chinese dim sum, so just ordered a few items, prawn dumplings, chicken feet and glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaves.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Prawn dumplings:
Had this around dinner time, so these prawn dumplings were probably made during the day and left in the steamer.
They tasted ok, but one of the dumpling skin was slightly dehydrated.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaves:
I felt the rice was a bit too soggy and oily otherwise it was Ok.
The filling was generous and had nearly everything such as roast pork, chicken, salted egg yolk, mushrooms.
I wonder how all that was packed in.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Chicken feet:
The flavour was weak and the chicken feet were not soft enough.

[Review 1369] Second chance to go back in time @ 白宮冰室 Pak Kung Cafe

There was a similar cafe like this called 祥利冰室 Cheung Lee Restaurant in Tin Hau, but it closed down before I could try.

Although I am not a fan of Chinese food, I like to visit these cafes because they are historic.
Inside the cafe it was like being in a scene from a Hongkie film.

Anyway, I really liked the old ceiling fans, clocks, old tiles, chipped chinaware which really matched the old area in ToKwaWan.

I chose the donut because it wasnt that Chinesey.
It had a different smell to the western ones, perhaps because of the oil used to fry it.
