Usually I get sushi from here, but this time saw some desserts so got the blueberry cheesecake and Japanese taro pudding.

The taro pudding was a layer of taro sandwiched between two layers of black jelly.
I did not know what it was so asked about it, one of the staff there answered me it was Taro which was pretty obvious and it said that on the box, but luckily the other assistant heard and told me the black stuff was Herbal grass jelly.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Taro pudding:
It just looked like taro paste in between some liquorice jelly, the black jelly had a cooling minty sensation and according to the staff it was made from Grass Jelly.
The taro paste in the middle was starchy.
Overall it was quite nice, but extremely sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry cheesecake:
The cheesecake was soft and there was blueberry sauce on top.
It did not taste like the typical Japanese cheesecake, it was neither memorable or delicious.

Wanted to try the new pumpkin soup but I did not feel like having it with burgers, so I ordered a McCafe’s tomato and egg ciabatta to go with it.

The ciabatta was really nice, the cheese had melted and it got infused with the tomato and egg.

After I finished the ciabatta I moved on to the soup, the consistency of the soup was just right and it was slightly starchy due to the pumpkin fibres.
It was quite nice and went well with the ciabatta, the soup was not too sweet or too strong and contained real pumpkin puree. The soup also had a dash of cream on top.

[Review 1407] Fried quail eggs and Natto beans curry @ CoCo壹番屋 CoCo Ichibanya

I had a lovely curry last time at the TST branch, so went to this one as it was located closer to the MTR.

The curry was better but the only let down was the customer service, when I came the restaurant was only 10% full.
There was no one at the reception to lead me to the table, so I just walked in and sat down.

Luckily a waitress saw me so she gave me a menu.
At the TST branch there was water at the table and here you have to request them for it.
The pickles in the glass pot that I reviewed at TST were not on my table either.
However when I was ready to order there were no waitresses around, same when I wanted to pay the bill and leave.
As for the curry I ordered fried quail egg curry with Natto beans.

The consistency of the curry sauce was much thinner than the TST branch, you could see it swish about in the plate when it was brought over.
The presentation of the curry here was much better, the rice, curry sauce and sides were put separately so you could control how much sauce to put on the rice.
The quail eggs were fried just right and the cutlet coating was thin. I was surprised how they managed to adhere the coating to the quail eggs before frying.

[Review 1406] McD's prosperity burger and twister fries 2012 @ 麥當勞 McDonald's

Initially hesitated to try the prosperity burger because I thought it was just the same as the usual black pepper burger except the shape is different.
But anyway got the set because of the twister fries.
As I got the set mainly for the fries I didnt have any expectations for the burger, I just expected it to taste like the black pepper beef burger.
The twister fries were as good as before but not hot enough. However I was surprised the burger tasted nice.
The black pepper was not so strong this time and the sauce was sweeter than the black pepper version.
So overall this burger was nicer than expected because the black pepper taste did not overpower the rest of the burger.
However if you are a beef lover you will be disappointed because the beef taste is faint and the patty is very soft.

Something new again, Korean bulgogi roasted chicken!

Korean food to me just tastes sweet and spicy, but anyway decided to give it a try.

The appearance of the chicken just reminds me of the flava crava roasted chicken with added black and white sesame.

It actually tasted like the Flava Crava roasted chicken with extra sweet and spicy sauce on top.
I have not tried real bulgogi so I can't comment on how authentic it is, but the sauce tasted nice.
In Korea, the KFC there serves a bulgogi burger.
The rice with seaweed was a nice change at KFC too and it was the typical long grain rice and not the pearl rice which you would expect for Korean/Japanese food.
The seaweed however was not the type I was expecting, I was expecting moist kelp to go with plain rice and not the dried laver snack types, but overall I liked it, but the rice could have been better because they gave me the dehydrated rice from the edges of the rice cooker.
Finally the honey green tea was basically a green tea Tea-bag immersed in hot water and syrup at the bottom of the cup which had not been stirred.
As it had not been stirred, I sipped the tea avoiding the syrup because I do not like drinks that are too sweet.

Saw this weird Creamy garlic n black bean sauce dish so decided to get it.
It was a baked dish.
Usually the Chinese baked dishes are tomato sauce or cheese based with seafood or pork chops.
However this one was garlic and black bean, and usually in Chinese cooking it is in the form of a clear gravy, but the sauce for this dish was creamy!!!! Not like the traditional clear brown gravy with garlic and black beans.

I assumed it was going to be served in a ceramic dish with the rice beneath the fish, but the rice was served separately and it was plain boiled rice too which is better than fried rice.
The fish was on a bed of vegetables including Aubergine, carrots and potatoes.
The potatoes tasted and looked like English roast potatoes.
Although the baked dish tried to be slightly different to the usual Chinese baked dish, there was still a piece of processed cheese on top.
Without the cheese, it still would have tasted nice.

The sauce was quite nice, it was a bit like gravy with the black bean flavouring, however I would have preferred a stronger black bean taste.
The colour and consistency reminded me of Chinese black pepper steak gravy but without the pepperiness.

At the bottom of the dish there was about a teaspoon of oil.
Lastly the low sugar green tea was too sweet.

[Review 1403]Indomie noodles Hongkonised and made high-end @ 香港茶餐廳 Hong Kong Tea Time

Indomie instant noodles were cheap and affordable noodles that used to be sold in Indonesian grocery shops for Indonesian expats, now they are commonly served in Chinese small food joints and even at 7-eleven as a noodle snack for less than $10, moreover they can be bought at a slightly higher retail price in Hong Kong supermarkets.

Interestingly, many restaurants now serve Indomie because the Chinese are familiar with it along with the traditional brands such as Dolls and Nissin, and Indomie is cheaper than them both.

Anyway, at this restaurant there was five choices with this noodle and it was priced between $25 and

I ordered the one with the satay, which was sold out; however it took them long enough to tell me that it was not available after I asked them.

In the end I ordered the first which was the noodles in Thai Style!
When it was served, you could see it was loaded with finely chopped chili.

It tasted so spicy I could not finish it all.
As for the noodles it tastes like the usual Indomie noodles but with chili added.
The fried egg just tasted like an ordinary fried egg but quite raw.
