Previously walked past Princess in Central but never went in.
Now there is finally a Princess at Wan Chai and located on Queen's Road which I saw late last year but the cakes looked really heavy so I didn’t try them.
Recently when I walked past I saw the mini crown cake so I got it.
The cake was packed in a really nice box that looks like a handbag with a ribbon as the handle.
When I opened the box I found the ball from the top of the crown had fallen off which could not have been caused by carrying it back because the edges of the box could not touch the top centre of the cake but only the sides of the cake.
Anyway, I was slightly disappointed because the edges of the box got chocolate on it, and it is such a waste of a lovely box.
It would be great if they had a mini box to put the cake in and then into the lovely elegant box so that it keeps it clean and easier to carry.

Dark Crown - Chocolate and earl grey tea HKD48
The chocolate on the outside is made of thick mousse and not solid chocolate as it looks.
Surprisingly the sweetness is just right and the earl grey filling can be seen inside the cake.
Although the earl grey was strong I would have preferred it to be stronger to match the name Dark crown.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as their cakes I want to try their savory cakes such as Champagne caviar, Foie Gras, White Truffle and Savoury cookies which I hope taste 100% savoury and not savoury and sweet.
Another interesting product I want to try is the Pure egg white crisps!!

[Review 1469] Gulliver's journey experience in Hong Kong @ Brobdingnag & Lilliput
02/03/2012
Brobdingnag & Lilliput (已結業)
荃灣荃錦中心2樓81號舖
Shop 81, 2/F, Tsuen Kam Centre, Tsuen Wan
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/gullivers-journey-experience-in-hong-kong-e2222299
I have always wanted to try this place because I liked the name of the shop which comes from Gulliver's travels.
However its location is quite far from the city and there is now another shop located at Mikiki.
Although with the convenience of modern travel today, I was lazy to travel here compared with Gulliver's adventurous travels to various cities in the novel.
Anyway, when I got here, I was greeted with the B and L logo composed of the illustrations of the ice-creams that they sell.
It shows giant icecreams (Brobdingnag) and dwarf icecreams (Lilliput) arranged like a compass which correlates to travelling and matches the Gulliver theme with waves beneath the name of the shop as if it were a ship.
From the reviews there is taro ice-cream, so I ordered that but it was not available that day so I had to order something else.
The flavours are listed on the board on the right which is quite confusing because not all of them were available.
It turns out that the available flavours have an icecream shaped magnet stuck to it which I thought was part of the decoration.
Anyway quite alot of the flavours I wanted to try were not available that day such as taro and white chocolate, so I just got the tutti frutti.
I saw these colourful tiny cups which have coloured liquid inside that freeze in the freezer so that when you take them out you can pour alcohol shots in there to chill it.
The colour cups were tiny so I ordered it thinking there would not be much ice-cream, but the portion was quite big.
These cups can be taken home and it was thoughtful of them to give me a plastic bag to carry the dirty cup home.
As well as ice-cream they sell ice-cream for space (space foods), ice lollies and mini ice-cream flowers which come in a box with small pieces of ice-cream shaped flowers in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tutti Frutti ice-cream
It was different to the tutti frutti taste I was expecting, but there was a strong pineapple taste and the texture of the ice-cream was really icy and creamy at all.

[Review 1468] Good dose of Curry @ 新景園咖喱小廚 Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant

灣仔春園街20號地舖
G/F, 20 Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/good-dose-of-msg-curry-e2222276
The curry is quite nice here but contains so much MSG that your mouth feels weird for the whole day.
Had it twice recently and found that the spicyness of the curry goes down at the end of the week.
Although MSG is bad for you, the MSG in this curry makes it quite addictive.
The pork cutlet was quite nice, but there were quite a few fatty pieces.

[Review 1467] Having chicken again after renovation @ 榮式燒雞扒 Wing's Catering

榮式燒雞扒 Wing's Catering
灣仔晏頓街8號地下
G/F,8 Anton Street, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/rennovated-wings-catering-e2222268
After this shop got renovated I gave it a visit for their chicken steaks.
But expect to feel thirsty afterwards because it contains a lot of MSG.
The chicken was not as juicy as before and the vegetables were quite oily.
But anyway, this branch is better than the Anton Street branch.
It looks a bit like those small ramen joints after the renovation.

[Review 1466] Cute BK Burger shots and mini ice-cream! @ 漢堡王 Burger King
02/03/2012
漢堡王 Burger King
灣仔軒尼斯道314-324號地庫
Basement, W Square, 314-324 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/cute-bk-burger-shots-and-mini-ice-cream-e2222255
Saw the poster of the mini burgers at Burger King so decided to try them.
The design of the poster was really good, the makeup artist gave the model a futuristic cyber look with metallic patterned eyebrows, colourful eyeshadow, metallic nails and metallic edges on the ears.
There were two flavours: beef or pork sausage and there are two burgers per order.
One is paired with crispy onions and the other is paired with grilled onions.
The two mini burgers were wrapped together looking like a long bun wrapped up if you did not know what was inside.
The concept of these mini burgers were really good, but the burger patty itself was not a mini patty which would have made it cute.
The patty was the usual patty sliced in half, same with the cheese!!
The bun was just the local Hong Kong sweet buns and not imported, the burgers tasted like the food from the Chinese cafes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef/Pork with deep fried onions
For the fried onion version, the beef tasted better.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef/Pork with grilled onions
For this one I preferred the pork sausage because the onions were thinly sliced.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mini icecream
I don't usually order their soft serve, but it was included in the set, and I was surprised it tasted quite nice, the vanilla taste was strong and not as milky as McDs.

[Review 1465] Kingdom of German cakes galore with Chinese style bad service @ 酥皇西餅店 Kings Pastry
29/02/2012
酥皇西餅店 Kings Pastry
尖沙咀彌敦道100號The ONE地庫1樓105舖
Shop 105, LG1/F, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/kingdom-of-german-cakes-galore-e2221896
I have always wanted to try this place but their previous location was too far.
Last time I came to this branch, most of the cakes were sold out and today there was so many different flavours that I could not try them all.
There were two cabinets, one had pre-cut samples which I was puzzled why she did not offer me any to try, after I had bought a piece of cake, she still did not offer me any samples.
In UK, they always offer you samples and let you try things, so I would have thought that as Germany is part of Europe that it would be similar too, and if it was managed by German people, they would probably instruct their staff how to offer people samples.
Anyway, I bought the Spanish Vanilla Slice with Raspberries and Cream first, after I ate that I decided to go back and order another cake, the next cake I chose was the chocolate and cherry cream slice and then she finally offered me a sample of the cakes!!!
Although she said that these cakes were imported from Germany, I was surprised it was not owned by the locals because the service was localised and not European.
If only they had arrived earlier, then it would be interesting to judge their customer service.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spanish Vanilla Slice with Raspberries and Cream:
I was expecting real raspberries, but it was raspberry puree. When you look at it from the side, they looked like real raspberries, but it was puree in that shape.
The base was cake with chocolate, the chocolate had been cut and mixed in with the cake mixture before baking so when the cake it baked, there are dots of moist chocolate in the cake!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate and cherry cream slice:
I really loved this one, the cherries were tart and chewy.
The cream was frozen cream, so its texture was slightly dehydrated and firm, but I really liked it because this is the type of cream they have in UK, but you can’t expect the cream to be fresher because it has been frozen and imported.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I like German cakes because they have a wide variety of cakes and tarts that are served throughout the Germany, most are commonly made with fresh fruit, Apples, plums, strawberries, and cherries. Cherries are my favourite and plum cakes are rare in Hong Kong because everything in Hong Kong is god damn mango!!!

[Review 1464] Don't forget your dessert included in da set lunch @ Coyote Bar & Grill

Gaylord Commercial Building,114-120 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/dont-forget-your-dessert-included-in-da-set-lunch-e2221825
The set lunches now include a dessert and the food was as good as before.
Anyway after finishing the main dishes, I was waiting a long time for the dessert because they seemed to have forgotten about it.
Then when I told them they just came over with a bill, so I asked where the dessert was, and she just walked off.
Then about five minutes later, she came over with the dessert with no apology and just placed it on the table.
The dessert was just chocolate cake with icing sugar, it was not too sweet, moist and soft.
