Tried this Vietnamese restaurant in Mong Kok, but felt that the food was more Cantonese.
I seem to get the impression that most foods served in the Mong Kok area are Cantonese style even though they are not meant to be.
Ordered the stir-fried vegetables which was cabbages, broccoli and carrots and it tasted like Chop Suey!
As for the noodles, the noodles were not in long strands, most of them were broken which can be seen in the bowl.
The bowl of noodles were really amateur and presented in a mess.

[Review 1521] KFC's Spudastic tomato flavoured Potato party @ 肯德基家鄉雞 (KFC)Kentucky Fried Chicken

I love potatoes so i just had to try this, however the KFC in Hong Kong is not as good as the KFC in UK.
In UK, we have fries/chips and not the Criss-cut Fries that come as a standard in Hong Kong, and they also have chicken gravy as an option for chips.
Anyway, since the Potato party was slightly different I decided to try it.
They are hash browns in the shape of discs and stars which are bite sized.
I was disappointed they also had the criss-cut fries with them because the star of the snack is really the hashbrowns.
I can understand they are trying to give you more variety because it is called potato party, but I dislike these criss-cut fries.
When you open the box there is a tomato scent and the tomato flavouring is sweet and artificial.
If you have tried the Walker's tomato crisps you can actually taste ketchup, but the tomato flavour on these hash browns tastes neither like tomato or ketchup.
The taste is very sweet and not sour at all, it tastes of paprika and carotene flavouring.

The Nagoya uma-dare chicken was available last year but I did not try it because I am not keen on the sweet sauce it has on top of it.
Anyway, decided to try it this year and it was surprisingly quite nice.
It is fried chicken covered with sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
The coating for the chicken was not the original secret recipe one, it was much lighter and not so heavy with the MSG that you could taste the Uma-dare sauce.
The sauce for the chicken was not that sweet and there was a hint of vinegar.
It reminded me of the fried chicken in black vinegar sauce served at Ootoya.
If the chicken was not too dry, it would have been perfect

Stopped by in the hustle and bustle of Sham shui po for some shao mai.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Shao Mai:
They were too soft and steamed for too long.
The sauce that they put was quite spicy.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Chilled intestines:
I DID NOT EAT THIS, but they are intestines coloured orange to make them look appealing.
They are chilled and eaten with mustard sauce and the Chinese sweet sauce used on rice rolls.

I never went in because it looked dark from the outside compared to other restaurants on that street.
Went in because my friend wanted to try it .
After looking at the menu, the design of the menu was not that Japanese and it was quite colourful.
As for the prices the food there was quite cheap.
Got the sushi set and the donburi rice which came with miso soup.
The sushi and rice was Ok however the quality was similar to the sushi sold at the local supermarkets.
As for the soup it did not taste like miso soup but tasted like Chinese soup.

After my first visit, I found the food quite nice so decided to give it a second visit.
On the second visit tried various things.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soymilk with dumplings:
Same as before, I love this dessert however they are not consistent, sometimes the dumplings are too soft and sometimes they are just right.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried luncheon meat, egg and rice:
This was simple but nice, a lot of places in Hong Kong just serve luncheon meat, egg with rice, but here you get preserved vegetables with it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shanghai dumplings:
The skin was rather thick but it was filled with meat juice inside after it was steamed.
The vinegar looked authentic with the sliced ginger in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef in five spices with rice:
The beef was quite nice and not too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Glutinous rice with pork floss and pickled veg filling:
NO PHOTO, but I found the rice too dry and the filling too sweet.

[Reiview 1516] Da Egg rolls R different 2 months later! @ 姊妹 Sisters Kitchen

After seeing the photos of the egg rolls on OpenRice, I found them quite appealing so I bought some to try.
I have not tried these before nor do I know what they are.
I thought they were sweet pancakes at first with chocolate sauce drizzled over it according to the photos posted on OpenRice.
Anyway, got some egg rolls and the Buk Kut Teh soup.
They also had CHICK kut Teh soup which sounds cute because it is chicken instead of pork!
I wonder if they have it in Malaysia because there are lots of religions there that can not eat pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Popiah Egg rolls:
They looked quite different from the rolls sold two months ago, they did not have any sauce on it. (Left top corner of this picture)
I asked if there was meant to be any sauce so they gave me some vinegar which looks nothing like the sauce used before because the sauce on the picture is thick.
Inside the rolls were mostly white carrots, a few shreds of cucumber and some crushed peanuts.
The roll was sweetish with some Satay sauce taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Buk Kut Teh soup:
The soup tasted really nice but there was too much oil on top.
The herb taste was really strong especially the wolfberries.
In the soup there were button mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, tofu puffs, beancurds and a piece of pork ribs.
