At this place you can get dim sum at any time of the day and most items under the sun except for my favourite Prawn dumplings.
This time got the steamed beancurd rolls and shaomai with quail eggs.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
steamed beancurd rolls
As usual these were greasy and MSG loaded, inside there was lots of pork fat and oil.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
shaomai with quail eggs
These were ordinary shaomai wrapped with white wonton skin and the quail egg on top.
Again they were quite oily and tasteless and the quail egg was hard boiled so it tasted really dry.

[Review 1654] Impressive Chinese sausage roll by Maxim's @ 美心西餅 Maxim's Cake Shop

Went past Maxim's and saw these sausage rolls for $9 which looked really nice so decided to get them.
I was really lucky because they just came out of the oven, had they not, they would have tasted totally different, the pastry would be hard and clumped together.
The appearance and filling is quite similar to an English sausage roll, however the pastry is slightly different and the sausage meat inside is different.
The filling here was quite nice, there was lots of herbs in it just like an English sausage roll, however the meat used was leaner which was good but not as soft as the English filling because less fat was used.
As for the pastry, there were less flakey layers than the English sausage roll and it smells different because the butter/ lard used was different.
That was why it tasted nice freshly baked because when it cools down the thick pastry becomes hard.
The major difference with Chinese pastries is that there is always a gaping hole in the middle between the filling the pastry.

[Review 1653] Green tea sundae x Wasabi flavoured sauce @ 麥當勞 (旺角)McDonald's

I wanted to try the caramel pudding McFlurry but it was really similar to the caramel sundae I tried before but with Oreo crumbs so I opted for the green tea sundae.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Green tea Sundae:
Left the red beans because I do not eat them and the green tea sauce was pleasantly light.
The ice-cream and green tea sauce tasted quite nice together and not too sweet, however I heard the red beans were rather sweet.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Wasabi flavoured sauce:
The wasabi flavoured sauce was really sharp and if you have tried the McD’s wasabi fish burger the sauce is the same as that.

[Review 1652] European breakfast @ 翠華餐廳 Tsui Wah Restaurant

Shop 1B, 2/F, The Broadway, 54-62 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/european-breakfast-tsui-wah-restaurant-e2245526
I don't know why, but I always think the food at TW is over priced.
Anyway I tried their breakfast which costs $35.
As I do not drink the Chinese style Milk tea it was pointless getting the noodle set, so I opted for the European breakfast because it comes with orange juice.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Orange Juice:
It was sweetened orange juice and it seems to be the Tropicana brand.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
European breakfast:
Egg:
It was tasteless and needed condiments, it tasted like McDonalds scrambled egg.
I was really disappointed with the egg because other places such as fairwood the egg tastes nice without salt.
Baked beans:
Just the usual baked beans but definately not the Heinz brand.
Fish cutlet:
The fish was nice and tender however it was slighty over fried.
Pumpkin:
The pumpkin was not soft enough and sweet.
Crispy bun:
This was something I liked because the bun was not sweet and it was buttered.
Sauce:
I thought it was salad cream but it turned out to be Japanese mayonnaise which saved the tasteless egg.

[Review 1651] Egg and ham six inch sub @ Subway

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/egg-and-ham-six-inch-sub-subway-e2245442
Got the egg and ham sub because the product shot showed the egg was omelette style, however when I got my sub it was egg and mayonnaise and not the omelette style.
It was quite nice but egg and mayonnaise is a little too heavy for breakfast.

[Review 1650] Lovely tea and relaxing time @ 川善茶居 Sinmei Tea

I was planning to come here a while ago but this place was fully booked so came here another time late in the afternoon with IVYCWK.
The decor of this place is really nice featuring lots of traditional Chinese teaware and prized tea leaves.
They even have their own brands.
I ordered the matcha snow white which has ice-cream floating on top and IVYCWK ordered the Rose Island.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
matcha snow white
I was really impressed with the drink, the sweetness was just right and even after the ice-cream melted it did not make the drink too sweet.
First I drank the green tea and left half of it to mix with the ice-cream to get two different tastes.
The green tea was not too bitter or grassy which was good.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Rose Island
IVYCWK's drink was fun, but since I am allergic to Rose and Lavender I could not order that, but it comes with Perrier to be added in the drink.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I wanted to try the food as well but I had dinner afterwards so I couldn't, it was so nice of them to let me try their earl grey cup cake and it was delicious, the earl grey was really strong and I loved the icing on top.
It really reminded me of the cupcakes at school.
While I was sitting there I could smell their cooked eggs which made me hungry so next time I shall order their eggs.

Came here in March and a week after I decided to go again and it had already packed up.
There were so many other dishes I wanted to try such as the fried oysters in port wine.
Anyway the stuff that I had was the French sliced chicken skin.
It is a piece of mantao with sliced chicken liver and crispy chicken on top.
"法式片皮雞 –由春雞‧鵝肝‧炸饅頭組成" quoted from the previous review.
I really liked the chicken liver and the crispy chicken, however I did not like the chinese mantao because it was sweet.
As well as this dish, ordered other items, but they were not as good as this dish.
