Noticed this tiny joint that sells Thai food at North Point market.
It reminded me of Ra Cha Moo Yang.
As there was no where to sit, I just got the desserts.

There were quite a lot of desserts but I chose the yellow pea dumpling and coconut jelly.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Yellow pea dumpling:
When I opened the box, there was a really pungent smell, the yellow peas were slightly off, but there was a small sachet of sugar with sesame and coconut to go with this because the dumpling itself is not sweet.
Apart from the smell it tasted ok, it was similar to the Chinese zhongzhi's with the yellow peas.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
coconut jelly:
The jelly tasted the best, the texture of the jelly was soft.
On top of the jelly there were pieces of young coconut but it was green because of the colouring.
Overall I would get it again but I felt it was a tad too sweet.

[Review 1782] Afternoon tea sets @ 榮式燒雞扒 Wing's Catering

I have always wanted to try the afternoon tea sets at Wing's catering because it incorporates their signature chicken steaks and lotus root pork patties into Western style.

There are two choices: a burger or a croissant set.
The burger has the lotus root pork patty inside which is a perfect because the patty is shaped like a burger anyway and because it would taste nice in a burger.
The other set was the chicken steak in the croissant and the long shape of the steaks fits perfectly in between the croissant too!
I was looking forward to eating both because they were both quite different.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lotus root pork patty burger:

The burger was really nice, it even had the usual lettuce and tomato, however I would prefer tomato ketchup sauce and not salad cream.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken steak croissant:

The chicken was as good as usual, and the MSG was lighter than usual but it tasted nice with the mayonnaise, tomato and lettuce, however the croissant was stale, and it was so stale that after it was toasted the whole croissant was rock hard.
If it was a fresh croissant the centre should be slightly soft.

[Review 1781] Big Slice of Pizza served in a ▼gular shaped box @ Big Pizza

Previously this joint used to Uncle Hiros, anyway now they sell big slices of pizzas.
Every time I came past the pizzas looked rather burnt so I did not get it.

This time I walked past the pizzas looked OK but the display cabinet was not a heated one, so the pizza was reheated when I ordered it.

There were about five flavours ranging from $30-$40 per slice.
For $45 you can choose any slice of pizza which includes a drink and 2 chicken wings.
Before the pizza is the made, the pieces of dough are carefully cut into smaller pieces and weighed.
The pizza box was rather neat, it was triangular shaped to fit the individual slices.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken tikka pizza:
The chicken tikka taste was not that strong, but the herbs were nice and strong.
There was lots of tomato sauce on the pizza, which was good, and the cheese was just right.
The chicken was slightly dry though.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken wings:
They did not look as good as the product shot. They looked paler.
They were quite spicy and dry and tasted off.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple and pandan flavoured bean paste mooncake HKD30:

The taste of the apple was quite refreshing but not strong enough.
If the apple could have been more tart then it would balance out the sweetness of the mung beans.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black glutinous rice with red wine cherry and mung bean paste mooncake:

This flavour tasted quite nice because the cherry flavour was strong and on the purple dough skin you can see finely grounded glutinous rice in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Other flavours I should get next:
Custard and egg yolk
Custard, purple potato and birds nest

Had the fried eggs and luncheon ham as usual and this time I added extra curry which costs $2.

The lunch comes with drinks which are the usual choices you get in Chinese cafes ie HK style tea, lemon tea etc so I changed it for the seaweed and chinese radish soup because the chinese radishes at this joint tastes really sweet.

It only costs $2 extra if you change from a drink to the soup.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
seaweed and chinese radish soup:

As expected the Chinese radishes were naturally sweet and soft.
The seaweed was really clean that there was no sand.
I don't know why but the seaweed had a hint of rose taste in it.
The slight let down was that it was slightly too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry sauce:
It was very coconutty and spicier than I expected.

[Review 1778]Loving green tea and loving green vegetarian food @ 川善茶居 Sinmei Tea

Although I am not a vegetarian I really love vegetarian food especially soy steaks and western style vegetarian because they are not greasy.
I was in Sheung Wan and suddenly decided to pop over to Sin Mei, on way my there I bumped into the owner.
Since my last visit, they now have a kitten and more food choices which are vegetarian.

The main thing I came for was the tofu burger and the Perrier series, however the tofu burger was sold out so I ordered the club sandwich instead and the Jasmine Blossom.

There are four drinks in the Perrier series: Jasmine Blossom, Loving Matcha, Rose Island, Honey on the rock.
The drinks not only sound fun but are made with a cocktail of ingredients that go nice together.

Since I ordered the sandwich it only costs $20 more for a drink
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Matcha soul with rose:

This was a treat from the owners and not on the menu because the Matcha Soul original does not contain rose.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Jasmine Blossom:

I really liked this, it was visually stunning as expected with lovely Jasmine Sorbet.
It was not sweet either which was good and the lime and Jasmine were a refreshing and light combination.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Club Sandwich:

It smelt really nice! I think they have a talent cooking the eggs because last time I came here, someone else ordered eggs and you could smell it sitting a table away.
The egg in the sandwich was similar to scrambled egg, it was light and fluffy and I loved the tea leaves sprinkled on it too.
The vital ingredient to this perfect sandwich was the mayonnaise, it was proper mayonnaise and not Chinese salad cream.
The sandwich itself was great because the bread was embedded with lots of barley and it was crispy as well as light.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
To try: Matcha affogato:
On my way out I spotted Matcha affogato which I must try next time!!
It would be fun pouring hot matcha on to icecream.

[Review 1777]TST branch was heaven, the TinHau Branch was hell @ 文華雞飯(新加坡)

18/09/2012
文華雞飯(新加坡)

G/F, Parkview Centre, 7 Lau Li Street, Tin Hau
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/tst-branch-was-heaven-the-tinhau-branch-was-hell-e2258535

Previously I used to dine at the TST branch because the chicken there was good so when this branch opened I did not hesitate to go and try it when I saw the recent reviews.

The interior is basically the same and left how it was from the RED FRUIT TREE, one of the female staff that used to work at the RED FRUIT TREE was retained and now works under the Mandarin Chicken.
Anyway, the service was not that friendly and she grouped the people to sit in one area.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Rice in chicken oil:
I tried the rice first before trying the chicken or vegetables and I couldnt believe how salty it was!
How could the rice be saltier than the main dishes?
But considering the stingy portion of chicken, it was thoughtful of them to make the rice overly salty because when the chicken and vegetables were finished there was still a decent half bowl of rice left so the rice could not be tasteless~~
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken:
The portion of chicken was plain stingy, after removing the skin which was extremely fatty and thick there was not much left!!
The amount of chicken after removing the skin!

++++++++++++++++++++++++
Chicken at the TST branch:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetables:
This was blanched kale and there was nothing special about it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:
The soup was chicken soup and tasted like soup made from boiling overnight chicken bones and meat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ginger puree sauce:

Ginger water with solid chicken oil floating
The chicken is supposed to taste nicer when it is dipped with ginger puree, but in the ginger pot there was no ginger puree left, it was just ginger water remaining with bits of chicken oil that had solidified and floating on top!~!
I also stirred the pot of ginger sauce and it was mainly ginger water and there was so little puree in it! See blog for video.
The picture below shows the ginger sauce at the TST branch which is much more decent.
