This restaurant has been around for ages and because it seems to be there all the time I end up trying other restaurants first.

When you walk past this restaurant they have lots of cooked chicken hanging by the windows so their chicken is probably quite good.

I finally tried it because the one I wanted to try was closed.

Ordered the chicken rice with flavoured rice and the pork knuckles with rice set which comes with coke.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:

The soup came with the chicken rice set. Although it was Chinese soup and not Thai wintermelon and chicken soup it still tasted nice.
There was no msg in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hainan style chicken with rice:

The rice was a little too soft but the colour was lovely and yellow, the taste of the rice was aromatic and not too greasy even though it had chicken oil.
The chicken was good as well, there were no bones and after removing the chicken skin there was clean chicken meat left! As for the chicken it tasted fresh and tender.
Although this may not be authentic chicken rice but least I got chicken meat and not fat and bones.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork knuckle with rice:

The rice had lots of marinade sauce over it so it went a bit soft. The pork knuckle skin was extremely soft and sticky and the pork knuckle meat was nice and tender.
The pork knuckle was boneless too.
There was generous pickles on top to balance out the heavyness of the pork knuckles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sauces:

There was soy sauce and Thai chili sauce for the chicken and the Thai chili sauce was quite nice because there was lime juice and herbs in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Satays:

On the way out the satays on the mini griller looked appetizing as well as their sauces.

[Review 1850] Orangelicious deep sea octopus and turkey gizzards @ 多多吃站-鹵味牛什王 Dor Dor Eatery Station

I rarely eat from these street stalls because it usually results in food poisoning, but this particular stall is one that I walked past all the time and get the temptation to try it, however every time I pass by it is always crowded and it is right on the corner of the road where everyone crosses the road from.

It was really good because the cabinet had the whole gizzards and octopus tentacles so you could visually see how big they were.
Recently I tried some orange coloured pig intestines which I have never tried before and realised they were really delicious and did not have a foul smell.
The ones that smelt bad were the big intestines with a fatty lining but the smaller intestines looks like huge flattened macaroni.

For these street stalls snacks I just found out that there are two ways of eating the snacks, one is eaten chilled and the other that is blanched.

The snacks here are eaten chilled and surprisingly for this type of snack there are only two sauces to put on it: yellow mustard and sweet sauce.

Finally I had the chance to experience the messyness of eating snacks on the street, holding the skewer away from the body so that you do not drip the sauce on your clothes but on the pavement/road.
Anyway the owner was quite nice, she said I could take my time eating it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep sea octopus tentacles:
I tried the octopus because the tentacles looked huge. It was so delicious I had another one.
The tentacles were extremely tender and the sauce it was marinated in was packed with aromatic spices that are not spicy.
The tentacles looked so glassy and shiny in the cabinet that they were just irresistible.
I tried without the sauces and it was nice but after adding the yellow mustard which had a hint of sourness, it was even more appetising!

Second skewer:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Turkey gizzard:

I was surprised at the enormity of these gizzards, I thought the chicken was fed drugs to enlarge its gizzard or it had some illness.
Then after looking at the menu I found out that these were not chicken gizzards but TURKEY which explains the size.

As for the taste, it was really nice and well complemented by the sweet sauce and yellow mustard.
The gizzard texture was really meaty and did not smell.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I am really surprised that this snack joint only has one review which was dated 2010, so this joint must have been here for quite a while and every time I go past it, there are so many people queuing for it too.

[Review 1849] Jaat Doh Jaat Reggae rhythms on electric road @ 泰國翟道翟街頭粉仔 Thailand Chatuchak Noodle

I have always wanted to try this place every time I walked past because the front of the shop was really colourful.
Basically this shop stands out from Electric Road.

Anyway, the owner of this shop also has a Japanese restaurant called Omerice round the corner.

They used to have a restaurant in Sai Kung but I can't remember what it was.

This place is famous for Chatuchak noodles, at first I did not know Chatuchak was a city in Thailand, I thought it was some cool name and I also thought this place was opened by William Chak.
But somehow the name Chatuchak and Reggae is a good pairing along with the colourful decor.
The signature noodles that they serve look like jelly but I am not a fan of noodles that have a texture like konjac noodles so I tried the Vermicelli and some other snacks.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Nice decor:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drinks:
I was really surprised with the variety of drinks they had. They had these drinks called red ice and green ice but I forgot to take a picture of them, but apparently they taste like lollipops.
For bottled drinks they had DEDE coconut juice and Oishi tea.
The Oishi tea was an interesting brand because it is from Thailand but they have other Japanese brands under their name and Japanese restaurants too in Thailand.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thai Street style vermicelli:

Basically it was vermicelli noodles in soup with fried pigs skin, fishballs, pork slices and beanshoots.
The broth was just right and not to salty. The fishballs were really cute because they are smaller than the standard ones.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken satay:

The chicken was lovely and tender flavoured with lemongrass herbs.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Glass noodle salad:

I did not know this was spicy because there was no chili sign next to it like some items.
But anyway if it wasnt spicy, it was refreshing as a starter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato pillows:

This was crispy toast on the outside filled with sweet potato puree with mochi.
The sweetness was not cloyingly sweet which was good.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
DEDE coconut juice:

The drink was really nice with pieces of young coconut.
They serve it with a glass of ice so the drink is even more refreshing.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Photos of the restaurant:
When I walked by, this restaurant reminded me of Simplylife and Maxim's western style restaurants.
The decor inside was similar too.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tagliatelle with Chinese roast pork:
It was really good that they used Tagliatelle instead of ordinary spaghetti because the tagliatelle absorbs more soup and it was tastier.

The roast pork was just the usual, there was nothing spectacular about it but there was no complaint because it was not too fatty or dry.

The broth tasted like Knorrs chicken soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toast with ham and scrambled egg:

The toast was reasonable and the ham and scrambled egg was just done Chinese style.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coffee:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Photos of the menu/tea sets:

They had fish and chips and minced pies but as the style was not really Western I did not bother ordering that.

[Review 1847] Piping hot egg tart with silky smooth filling @ 惠籮餅店 Violet Cake Shop

Located on the corner of Electric Road, it is hard to miss.
The difference from this bakery is that you see the cakes from outside and order from the counter.
The egg tarts looked quite nice from the outside so I decided to get one.
However I could not see the prices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shop photos:

 ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg tart:
When they remove the egg tart from the metal casing they will use a piece of bread to act as a surface to knock it out.
Then they will put the egg tart in a cake casing and put it in a small carrier bag and pass it to you after you have paid, however if you are still fumbling with the coins they will hang the bag on the window.
When I got the egg tart it was really hot, the pastry base was shortcrust and luckily it was not that buttery.
As for the sweetness of the overall egg tart it was just right. The custard filling was quite runny just like the Chinese smooth steamed egg.

Pickled salted vegetables and pork stomach soup!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Goose:

The goose this time was OK, the given pieces were not too bony.
The meat was moist and their secret sauce enhanced the goose and rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pickled salted vegetables and pork stomach soup:

I have not tried pork stomach soup with pickled vegetable so tried it, it was not as salty as I thought it would be, but pickled vegetables taste better than white pepper.

Previously dined here before and their semi-buffet lunch was good, so this time went again.

Although the buffet was not as good as before, the mains were still OK.
The buffet choice was quite limited and there was no soup or fried chicken which was available before.

Even the dessert buffet selection was limited.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Catfish sandwich:
I have always wanted to try the catfish so I ordered that.
The catfish was coated in cornmeal and came with freshly made crisps.
The coating was really interesting, the cornmeal was extremely fine, and it had an extra crispy texture.
The coating was light because the cornmeal was ultrafine like semolina.

The fish was nice and succulent and tender but the coating was slightly too salty.
As for the crisps, they were slightly hard but since they were freshly done they were quite nice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chili beef:
As always the chili beef is packed with so many spices and my favourite kidney beans.

It also came with coloured nachos which all tasted the same and it was available in the buffet selection as well.
